PARTY CUP CHALLENGE
(formerly Yogurt Cup)
Spring/Summer 2017

This contest is open to ALL icmag members; there are NO restrictions at all on environment / equipment / method, only the container size. (The primary rule being that roots must remain entirely inside cup at all times). The true purpose of the contest in my eyes is to drive participation & cooperation on the site and bring members together in a spirit of sharing knowledge and experiences of growing in tiny containers.

RULES
Read Closely

1) All participants must use an individual Party Cup (AKA Beer Cup) max volume is 16 oz

2) All participants will use a clone, seed, or seedling of any Cannabis variety, male or female. Please specify strain/hybrid/breeder lineage in as much detail as possible (or even if it's a bag seed; tell what kind of herb was it in the bag the seed came from).

3) Participants can enter up to 5 plants (one plant per cup), and will choose the best one to be judged.

4) Seedlings may be germinated or not at the time of entry; Clones maybe rooted or not at time of entry as well.

5) All roots must remain inside the cup for the duration of the challenge and may require trimming. Any type of feeding is allowed, but if roots grow out the bottom of the container they must be trimmed immediately and not be outside the container.

6) Harvest must be no more than 16 weeks from today, that's November 28, 2017 . You can enter and finish ANY time between now and and the end of the challenge but MUST be harvested with finished product pictures and smoke report by November 28th,
2017
.

7) Keep the photos and updates regular, one per week at least. Missing 3 or more weeks without any update disqualifies a contestant, so keep up steady updates for maximum participation and to be considered in the winners poll.

8) Winner will be decided by a poll posted after the challenge is completed.

9) It is expected of all participants to keep a good attitude in the spirit of community and sharing of knowledge and experiences. Let's all have FUN.

Completed Grows will be judged by the ICMAG community in a poll upon completion of the contest. Finished grows will be judged on:
Quality of the information given
Frequency and presentation of updates
Quality of photographs and / or videos
Explanation & details
Design of the grow (concept)
Smoke report
Answers to questions about the grow
Quality & Quantity of the harvest

Last but not Least; a list of micro container challenge history on ICmag (some great info and grows in these threads):

Looks good, gonna' be some big plants and good yields.

I already grow in 16oz cups, but as a casual grower have
seldom flowered the monsters I've seen from other growers
in small pots, lol

I'm in, but will start after the temps go down a bit.

:woohoo:
Well how convenient, I just started a run in hempy party cups. I'm popping some regular autoflower crosses I made. The seeds were put in water last week 7/24. The crosses are:
The Devil (Delicious) x Lowryder 2 (Seedsman)
La Musa (Delicious) x Lowryder 2 (Seedsman)
Ultraviolet (Samsara) x Lowryder 2 (Seedsman)

Five of each were soaked in water for water for 24 hours, then put into paper towels for another 24 hours. Finally the smallest tap root and longest tap root were culled and the remaining three were transferred to the hempy party cups. They were watered with RO water and Superthrive. Today they are just above the ground and placed under 86-watts of off-the-shelf LEDs.

Going to give this a try.

Going to give this a try.

Greetings friends.

I'm going to give this a try. I'll spend the next couple weeks researching and deciding on a grow style for this challenge. I have a hard time keeping my plants happy and healthy in a 5 gallon pot of soil so this should be a great challenge for me and I hope I learn a lot. I will probably use autoflower seeds for this grow.

@ReikoX- I love your hempy beer cup approach to this grow. I've heard of taking cuts and rooting them in those cups but not a full grow. Looking forward to seeing how they do!

Thanks Fiddy, I use the shot glass party cups with perlite for my cuts. Works great for my micro grow. I put them in a small jiffy greenhouse and clone above my T5 in veg. I've grown in small containers before, but this whole [passive] hydro thing is new to me. Good luck and HAVE FUN!

i also just started some seedlings...and some clone cuts.
so one can expect some kind of effort from me.
Chemdog Sour Diesel regular (2010-2012/35 starts) & GSC x SSSDH S1 (2015/13 fem. cuts)

I am searching the Sour Diesel for a proper male. these seeds were from a (back?)cross in 2012 from the original Chemdog drop in 2010. found then a phenomenal male and collected multiple grams of pollen (mrs trichrider disposed of all of the pollen, accidentally...) so i'm trying again.

the GSCSSSDH slips are rooting now, and if the mom impresses there could be a cross.

be back later to post pics.

i'm gonna take on the challenge this time as well....
have a bunch of CBD hemp in cups, already a foot tall; might run with one of those - also have some THC cuts ready to go, been rooted about 5 days....
also got clones in the domes ready to pull out....
sounds like im running a bunch of clones this run.

@RekioX- looking good. Looks like a great set up. Good luck to you as well. I have no experience with small container grows other than the pissed off plants I've had when I didn't transplant them in time. I might try something similar to what you are doing.

A few guys from my jungle thread have been talking about doing a cup challenge for a couple weeks now so I posted the link to this thread. I think we will get some more people in on this challenge from there. We will see if there are takers.

Good afternoon Rodehazrd.

Great to see you've also accepted the challenge. Yep some real pros here and I hope to learn a lot. Have a look back at past challenges for some good lessons as well.

I'm in. Will take pics tonight. You beat me to the punch Avi, lol. I was just about to post these pics in the last yogi thread, with the statement "I'm waiting"

So I'll do this one as is, and put one in a solo cup in about an hour from now.

Here they are. The yogi cup is just for fun. In the solo's I have a Deer Breath (Deer Breath = OGKB 2.0 x Chem 91' IX) and 2 seed plants of Stink Panties x Strawberry Dogshit.
