This is my understanding as well, to a degree. We haven't bothered checking PH due to the soil being built all organic; I was told countless times in the organics sub forum that PH isn't a concern if I followed these recipes correctly. It could be PH, but why would it only show up in one plant the way it has? All of them are in the same soil and get watered exactly the same. If it were PH, I would think all of them would be having the problem (at least those of the same strain). Next time around though, we'll pay more attention to PH.

Thanks for stopping by!

Hey,
in organic you don't have to worry about pH is a faulty statement.
When growing organic, lots of people use garden lime in their soil, these people don't have to worry too much about it. The lime is essentially "powdered base slow release", and as soon as anything liquid comes in contact with it it dissolves (giving off Magnesium and Calcium, another good reason to add some) , therefore neutralizing the acids. You can dump straight fertilizer with pH of 4 in the soil, the runoff will be pretty close to 7.
I don't know if you used lime in your soil, because if there is no lime, pH plays a big role. Sorry man, i am not trying to tell you how to grow, i am just adding some knowledge i learned with my current grow.

Your plants look great by the way. The plants start to use up all their stored nutrients at the end of their life, so by the looks of it, you're at the end of the summer and the beginning of fall. Harvest should be near. So about these deficencies i wouldn't worry too much, as long as the rest looks fine. The plant also throws off the big leaves because most of it's energy consuming growing is done now, it doesn't need them anymore. The removal of the leaves (don't take 'em off though, the plants feed off it), will also allow the last warm rays of the fall sun to reach the flowers. So, your plants obvioulsy seem to like their environment and are right on schedule with everything. Looks like you got another 15 - 20 days to go.

No need to be sorry friend! I appreciate all and any feedback you guys have to offer. We do in fact use powdered dolomite lime in our soils, which as you demonstrated above, is why I don't worry about PH. Like I said though, we will pay more attention to PH next grow just to make sure it's not an issue.

Hey, it looks like you're seeing the same things we are. We figured anywhere from 5-20 days, depending on which plant we're talking about. We planned to just let them finish their days and that most of the fan leaf trouble on Petunia is likely in large part due to self consumption as a result of nearing harvest time. We can't wait!

Thanks again!

Wow,thanks Jamie. Though we got the thing to work, we're still no pro's at using it, so it's kind of an inexact science, if you know what I mean. :joint:

I know exactly what you mean :) If I want one good photo, I'll take 20 to be sure!

Very nice work dudes. Glad I got a seat for harvest

KJ: Those girls are looking :yummy: And you moved the light down!!!!!!! :)

Glad you got your microscope working. I went with the jewelers loupe. What kind do you have?

ScrubNinja: Yeah, I really need to start taking 2-3 of each plant so I am more likely to get a good one. Thanks for swinging by and saying hello!

BorkBorkBork: Welcome, and thanks for the compliment! Indeed, moving the light down seems to have really supercharged the girls; next time we'll have them as low as possible during the entire grow. As for the microscope, we bought it online and it's probably a lot like what you might find for $25 at Radioshack; maybe we'll go pick up a jeweler's loupe too.

Wow, I can't believe it, this journal now has 20k views! I wanted to be the one to view and post at 20k, but I'll take 20,001. I'm just so glad that so many of my fellow IC'rs have found this journal useful, entertaining, or worth a laugh at least. Happy to serve this great community in some small way. Thanks for all of your support!

The girls are looking good and getting frosty. I can't believe how much weight Purdy seems to be packing on still; her secondary buds all blew up over the past few days and there are a ton of white hairs still coming out on all of the colas. Petunia is still putting out a few new white hairs, but has stopped growing for the most part; I think she'll be ready to come down this weekend, but we'll see. Baby and BillieJean are getting super frosty and still putting on a bit of weight; they're going to be two nice little loli-pops...I can't wait to try these two.

I checked the trich's when I watered them the other day (just plain water) and things are looking mostly clear on Purdy, opaque on Baby and BillieJean, and totally opaque on Petunia. We'll look for mostly opaque with maybe a few amber before pulling them, so Petunia is nearly there.

Check back soon because there just might be some harvest pics if Petunia is ready to make her sacrifice at our alter. Until then... :joint:

Day 65, more pics!

Day 65, more pics!

Here we are at day 65 and things are feeling good. The plants look amazing, as you'll soon see. I thought for sure we'd be harvesting at least one of them this past weekend, but no go, they aren't quite ready yet. Petunia is the closest, but even she is still showing very little amber in the trichs and still has quite a bit of new pistil growth on her ancillary buds. We're still doing regular waterings with just plain, filtered water, which they seem to love. The temps in the cab are hovering between 74-78 when lights are on, and about 8 degrees cooler at night.

The aroma's are amazing and getting better all the time; I still favor the BM's which have this fruity, nearly grape smell to them. The BM's are also getting really resinous, sticky and frosty looking; they also are starting to bulk up in the middle and lower sections to where they almost look like one large cola. Purdy is putting on the weight every day; she still looks like she has another 2 weeks in her...we'll see.

One thing we noticed recently is that the wires we used for LST'ing these ladies was wrapped around the trunk too tight, causing the Pure girls indents in their main stems where the plant stopped growing. Purdy in particular has a deep indent which made it so the stem for that 1/4" area is only about half as thick as the rest of the stem above and below. It's hard to describe, so maybe I'll take a picture when we harvest so you can see what I'm talking about. Petunia has one too, though less severe. The BM girls escaped this fate because we made the loop around their stems much looser. I would imagine this cost us some weight and negatively affected plant health, so we'll be sure to adjust our method next grow.

Enough from me, I'll let the pictures tel the rest of the tale. Thanks to my lady for taking these; they're some of the best we've taken of them thus far.

Petunia is looking damn HOT! :D

Doesn't she though? Her fan leaves are being consumed for bud-fuel, but the colors it brings out are nice and Fall like. She's still putting on the frost too.
