I wouldn't doubt if some of it had to do with wanting to keep the true UK clone a UK only super plant. Some sort of UK pride going on there.

I don't think it has to do with just the UK. It's the same thing in the US with certain "elite only clones".

I just don't understand why certain people (probably the same ones that are sitting around and hoarding these "elite only clones", feel the need to whine, bitch and moan about other companies that are attempting to get these "clone only" strains out to the market. They're not going to be identical to the clone obviously, but they are at least trying.

If somebody feels that they can do a better job, then they should put their money where their mouths are and just do it, instead of whining about people who are actually doing something.

one question... where's Big Buddah and why hasn't he chimed in?

so his cheese isn't even a selfed real cheese cut? sad, sad....

ps i bought some GHS cheese, too bad.... i thought it was a selfed cheese?
sad, really? A company having pride in making their own product rather than just doing the easiest thing possible and selfing a clone. Yeah, shame on those guys.

OK Brother,
Then i am very confident that an STS or C.S. reversal of the original Cheese clone should kick out fem copies of her.

I don't give a shit what a company wants to produce or market, but to sell me genes that are "the cheese" and finding out I've got beans of some [(cheese x afghani) x cheese] x cheese x cheese is different... Why not just self the cheese? Why bring other genes into the mix at all? That'd be like REZ selling his Chem BX1s as "chemdog", and not telling us the kush was used.... :bashhead:

How am I unjustified in feeling sad about this turn of events? I paid my hard-earned money just like many others, and now I find out the beans have other genes in their genepool... Not that they might not give me great plants, but this is news to me... ?

And don't question my knowledge of breeding or growing... I've nothing to prove to anyone who's skeptical, take that elsewhere...

And I've no problem with any company wanting to be proud of their own product, but to call it "Cheese" instead of Cheese BX4 or whatever is sure decieving in my book...

-gp

And I don't wanna pissin' match with you or anyone else, I'm not into e-thugs or know-it-alls, I'm allowed to express my dissapointment in finding this out without trolls deciphering my responses... I thought I bought "THE CHEESE", not some cheese hybrid beans... As many others here seem to be surprised as well.

I totally agree with everything you said. After the fact, every cheese grow I've seen now is not "The cheese". I have yet to finish mine and make up my own mind but so far, half the beans i have popped are slow growing runts that normally wouldn't make the cut.

Half of the pictures that I have seen on here posted by people claiming that it's the clone look completely different. I even found a picture of a "real Cheese" clone that looks very similar to the one I'm growing out. And I haven't noticed any slow or stunted growth and both beans germed fine. I have no idea how it smokes yet, so I have no opinion on that yet.

And I'd also like to add that I didn't purchase my Cheese beans out of ignorance, because I knew the deal beforehand. I research my purchases. If somebody wants the 100% identical same thing as the clone, then they need to get the clone, lol. Common sense, and I'm not even a breeder.

......

has anyone had any experience breeding with the cheese and selecting phenos?
also i noticed cannacopia are sell cheesexdeepchunk, has anyone grown these yet?

I have grown and smoked Cheese x Strawberry Diesel [Rez, not sure of rest] ... it really tasted like Cheese x Diesel, good shit, but maybe not better than either parent so not using it. I do not know details of the selection process, but the breeder is a very knowledgeable guy. It had at least a 50% Cheesosity factor taking the fight to the diesel filth... without asking him I do not know if it was 1 in 100, or the least Cheesy one of them.

I have just taken down and am smoking Cheese x Kali Mist [first seed of, more now made, so, not a selected pheno, that is coming....] This is damn Cheesy, but with a decent bit of Kali Hazey woody/earthy in there. The hit seems about halfway between the two.

Sagarmatha's Cheezewreck is looking very nice vegging in the sun, can't wait to give her a go this Autumn.

you bought the seeds without even reading the description..... :bashhead:

This is 100% your fault.

quoted from the description. You're the dumbass that didn't read it. They weren't trying to hide shit.
Introducing, for the first time, the UK's number 1 strain, the Big Buddha Cheese A backcrossed version of the Cheese, a clone only form plant which has been growing in various places in the UK The Big Buddha Cheese retains specific parts we loved from the original cheese, namely its sublime, distinctive taste, which, when tasted reminds people of the old skool cannabis they first smoked in the 80's when the first hybrids were developed, The high from the Big Buddha Cheese is also very special indeed, a no ceiling, uplifting, motivational, high, in fact we have had members of our crew smoke the BBC everyday for the past 3 years with little change in effect and quality of high. In modern times the most "sensi"able way forward is by growing your own produce for personal consumption, today there is so much information available to start making your own home-grown. Having top quality genetics will help you to successfully achieve your desired goals. Buying Big Buddha seeds guarantees you will always find a great plant, with distinguishable qualities, and a unique gene pool history.

Strain type: Sativa/ Indica Hybrid
Parents: Afghani (male) X Cheese (female) x 5
Growing Info: Indoors: Flowering time 7-9 weeks
Outdoors: End of Oct. start of Nov.
Sensory Experience: Very uplifting High, No Ceiling, Clear, Long-lasting.
Smell: unique, pungent, old Skool aroma
Taste: very appealing, fruity, fresh
Yield: Indoors: average of 250- 400g per square metre (with 600w dependant on grower, environment)
Outdoors: 200- 450g

and the GHS description
Cheese ® (Feminised) Awards: 1st prize Indica Cup HTCC 2006. Genetics: Skunk-Kush cross, straight from the UK Effect: Intense musky earthy flavor, very dominant. Strong body stoned, with bursts of mental energy. Flowering indoor: 8-9 weeks, with rock-hard buds and tight calyx formation. Production up to 700 grams per square meter. Flowering outdoor: Ready mid October; plants develop really bushy, so make sure to space the plants enough. Production up to 800 grams per plant.

Yeah 2 beans is a good comparison <sarcasm> I've heard from 2 other growers they had runts too. I honestly think GH needs to work on this strain more instead of what they have done "rushing the market"

I can only speak from my own personal experience with them so far.

Hmm, not the way I was hoping this thread would go, but nice to see folks are keeping it civil!

Cheese is probably a True female, I have never heard of anyone having a Cheese hermie on them. I must stress here that when I refer to Cheese I am referring to the real, original cut, all others are not interesting to me at all.

Using CS to make the plant reverse sex has nothing to do with an intersex trait at all, if the Cheese doesn't carry an intersex trait (which I'm pretty sure it doesn't) the S1s seeds should also be free of an intersex trait.

It has been said that if you use the Cheese to breed with, you won;t be able to keep the unique terpenoid profile that make it Cheese, not just another Skunk, well, maybe the S1s will be nothing like Cheese or maybe they will be, I really do not know, informed speculation is all fine and well but it will only take you so far, I'm the kind of guy that has to try these things for himself before being 100% convinced.

Now I've shown that it can be done, someone should do it and make Cheese S1s then we won't have to speculate about how it breeds anymore and will actually know what Cheese breeds like.

HoutHouseFlowers/Breeder's Choice did a load of work with the Ceese and told me it was hard/impossible to stabilise the Cheese terpenoid profile, but that guy is the biggest liar, thief and fuckwit on the internet, so I need to test these things for myself!

Looks pretty good to me, is that the cut? I see similarities for sure but it might be a bit leafier from those pics, but hey, if you enjoy smoking it and it takes you places you enjoy, it's good, right?

Why didn't GH S1 cheese instead of introducing new genes into it? Personally GH's cheese shouldn't even be called cheese unless it is an s1

Exactamundo Chief, what's wrong with telling the truth? If their Cheese isn't the real, original cut, it casts doubt on their Trainwreck and Chemdog too, thing is, they MIGHT have the original Arcata TW cut or the authentic Chemdog #4 and they MIGHT actually S1 these cuts, but if they can mislabel one strain, they can certainly do it with others.

SOmeone used Rez's Chem BX work as an example of this earlier in the thread and pointed out that he could have called it Chemdog, but he didn't, he told us about the Kush he used and how he had made the seeds. Say what you like about Rez, and I know some don't like the guy, but that is a much more honourable and ethical appraoch in my eyes.

However, I really don't want this to become a thread about various breeder's ethics, let's focus on the positives and the whole point of this thread was to point out that Cheese can be made to produce staminate flowers if sprayed with Colloidal Silver brewed at home, to show folks it CAN be done simply, cheaply and most improtantly safely (no nasty chemicals - you could drink the CS and it would not hurt you). I would encourage folks to try this for themselves and share the seeds freely with others.

If you are unhappy with the ethics of some breeders and the quality of their seeds and not pleased that unwitting folks have been conned into wasting precious resources growing plants that were not upto scratch or like they were expecting, I say you can do something about it other than just bitching on the net and that thing is to take a spray bottle of CS and spray it on the Cheese cut and make your own Cheese S1s, the more people you share them with, the more folks you have saved from being conned and disappointed. I'm not saying Cheese S1s would necessarily be great, but I am saying that I hope folks make some so we can find out just how good or bad they actually are, I was doing exactly this but was prevented from finishing, but I want to see others pick up the baton I dropped and carry it over the finish line!
