NASA-Funded Research Discovers Life Built With Toxic Chemical

You just created the first NASA-NWO-arsenic conspiracy theory. Web sites will spring up in its honor soon enough. The theory will certainly include Monsanto and a program to breed all forms of life except the human slaves to arsenic-based in preparation for our extermination.

Wait, wasn't there a story out about how Monsanto created a new type of corn seed that when planted grows corn that will turn anything that eats it into arsenic consuming bacteria? :alien:

No man... it's like this... they want to make it where we all have to buy arsenic dna retrovirus shots from them... it's all out there man... just ask alex jones and jesse ventura... where's the tinfoil?

Well actually I didn't know, I think I read that in a forum on the Internet? If it's on the Internet though then it must be the truth right? The Truth is out there. :alien:

This is terribly off topic, but speaking of GM stuff, I read this neat study yesterday where researchers develop improved methods for tracking/predicting gene flow between transgenic crops and non. They discovered that pollination/natural gene movement was much less important than human activity.

Completely off topic and probably not interesting to anyone except farmers, botanists and maybe some of you outdoor growers. Whatever...

I remember back in the pre-internet days, my wife and used to use "well, if was on tv then it must be true" in the same farcical/facetious manner.

Not really, don't you know? The Internet is the new TV! :D

I like the old adage "Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see."

All joking aside this does raise some very interesting questions and certainly goes a long way in solidifying the possibility of other life being out there in the universe. I mean more then just that the odds favor there being other life out there. Seeing life that can so quickly adapt in a fundemental way to a hostile environment now we can reason that life out there doesn't have to be limited to earth like planets.

I agree, but the moment a govt. funded agency does anything of the sort the crazies all start screaming socialism.

As they SHOULD! Let private industry deal with things...NOT the government!

No man... it's like this... they want to make it where we all have to buy arsenic dna retrovirus shots from them... it's all out there man... just ask alex jones and jesse ventura... where's the tinfoil?

Actually you SHOULD ask them...better than listening to the propaganda machine that you listen to! You're the ones with the tin foil.

What DO you expect? You can't believe "studies" any more...they're all fixed, the people paying for them decide what to publish. You're being manipulated!

Yes you STILL believe the bullshit they spew...if it's "mainstream" and that includes science...it's propaganda!

Oh...I wanted to thank you for my 2 week vacation head...thanks for getting me banned! That's one way to squelch the opposing view...eh? I'll be MUCH more careful in the future...believe me...I'll have to hide my real feelings like everyone else. Yup, real great place you're creating, censored speech, censored ideas...yup, bet you can't wait until EVERYTHING has been sterilized for our safety...are you jumping for joy yet? Feel safer flying getting strip searched before you board? Feel better that WikiLeaks is being targeted? Like the bankers getting free money to cover up their misdealing? No, all that's GOOD is being destroyed by the government. Good luck! Be careful what you wish for...

since reading this i have wondered if the creatures living in the volcanic vapor flumes under seas that live in a toxic sulphur environment have the same potential

they are shrimp i believe, a crustation of sorts irc but a higher life form nonetheless

space shrimp that can survive toxic environments and mine foreign celestial bodies for minerals and have them collected for testing

Let me straighten this out for you...

This isn't some "new" space life. It's regular life from earth that found itself in a hostile environment and at least ONE of these organisms had a "defect" in it's DNA that coded for using Ar instead of P for biological functions. It happens ALL THE TIME. It's how you get "resistant" organisms. They have a defect that allows them to metabolize differently than the others. Most "plant/insect/fungus/bacteria/virus killers" act on metabolic processes to kill. When one is born with a defect that changed metabolism, the organism survives the "poisoning" and is labeled resistant.

Normally they die...sometimes they happen to be born where this defect gives them an advantage and they thrive. It's nothing special...it's evolution and survival of the fittest.

which is the case with the sulphur breathing marine life in the sea that already exists

the curiosity extends to whether they too have differential in their DNA

the space shrimp was a joke because of the fund of sourcing

guess it was to dry for you to grasp

So the first thing you do when you come back is return to the ignorant personal attacks that got you banned in the first place? In all my life I've never met a personality like you, ibjamming. You're so quick to criticize everything and everybody before you have the least bit of evidence for your criticisms.

What DO you expect? You can't believe "studies" any more...they're all fixed, the people paying for them decide what to publish. You're being manipulated!

Lol, what? No I'm not, but thank you for you're misplaced, completely cynical concern. Are you drunk by chance? I'm trying to account for the fascinatingly consistent lack of coherence in your posts...

this reminds me of when the g'ment announced all the metals they found in Afghanistan....those were found many years ago but they tried to make it seem like they just stummbled upon it when they released the message....if they cant get to space anymore of course they will charter a new course for the money to keep coming in..... "oh we found life on a lake" ....now we need money to study it. STUDY THIS ONE.....who cares about an arsenic breathing whatever, i guess they do......we got an air problem of our own on the plantet.....can you get to it nasa and start worrying about the real living people on the planet, maybe you could put that rocket science mind to some real work....and once you have made the world a better place with all those genius minds then go have a look at the lake and and do what you need to do..... mo.....dont even need a microscope to see whats wrong with this place...mo... Nasa equaled one big waste of space and time....jmo....what have they brought back...moonrocks and pics for the past umteenth years....if life is out there just leave it alone...... we have enough to worry about already, mo

this place is in the worst shape and we have a bunch of rocket scientists with a microscope standing around a lake....getter dun!:good:

LMFAO

what amazing ignorance and stupidity you spew.

You KNOW you were banned for repeated willful TOU violations, not for any of your asinine opinions.

You yourself and you alone got yourself banned with continuous asshattery and refusal to abide by TOU. I have absolutely no power to ban anyone, or get anyone banned. People get banned because of their own stupidity alone.

I'd wager it won't be long till you put yourself right back in the same boat.

LMAO that you imagine you've ever straightened anything out for anyone.
seems like you are barely able to grasp the content of the article.

clue: Nobody here thought this was space life or new life. It is not a single individual with a defect. It is not a defect at all.

Again, I don't see what NASA has to do with other world problems really. If you feel that more money needs to be allocated to other problems, there are many more useless government programs that should be downsized before NASA, imo.

Everybody is so cynical all of a sudden. Yeah, so they over-hyped a PR event for the release of the study to the public/peers:

http://www.sciencemag.org/content/early/2010/12/01/science.1197258

What do you want them to do? Pretend they live in a non-capitalist, altruistic society where people can develop good and beneficial projects without having to beg/advertise for money at every turn? They have to beg for their portion like the DEA and Halliburton. At least NASA is in the group of programs we're paying for that don't contribute more to the problems. So find another source of money to be angry at. :)

That is exactly the only really relevant point made by the discovery.
