Hey my Jolly Bud seems miniscule to be in this thread but she is now reaching out 8 to 9 foot wide trained as I have done with her. I 'd like to include her as a large plant grown outdoors. A couple pix looking at her from different angles. Me for size reference. Thanks for the views...DD

Hello and thanks to everyone for their valuable time and info.

I am building a 14' x 28' greenhouse and cannot decide which size pots to use. and how to space them. so far i was thinking either 2-3, 300 gallon monsters right down the center. or 6 smaller pots. 3 on each side with a path down the middle. i guess what im asking is how would you more experienced outdoor growers use this space?

I'd do 2 450 gallon (8' diameter x 1.5' tall) home made smart pots on top of an 8' wide x 28' long prepared trench that is maybe 1' deep...1.5 would probably be better...

Also if you can go 16' wide on your green house and 32' long you'll get better spacing and have less construction waste

the two custom pots makes sense. what about plant numbers? would it be better to do 3 plants in each since i can do 6 total or just one in each? plan on starting these with supplemental light in early april.

I am grateful for the inspiration from this thread, and the sharing of cultivation methods too. My biggest doesn't even compare, but I have gotten my first pound plus plant using some of the things I learned here.

She is Turloco, and only 4.5 feet tall.

I might suggest that with some strains, 450 gallons of dirt may be overkill. In a greenhouse application, like in my garden this year, plants that did not get TOO big were a serious concern.

The Pineapple Cough, in 450 gallons of dirt would bust the confines of that GH, even at 16 feet. My Largest Marge (pics to come when the Blue Dreams that block her come down) is fully 14 feet wide, but its competing like mad with surrounding plants. With more space it might have sprawled a full 15... in 200 gallons of dirt.

Nice yield on the D.O.G.s. When did they come down?

On another note, I haven't contributed a pic to this thread in a while, so I thought that I would add another pic of Jorge Cervantes walking amongst the giants this year on his visit to my garden. Thanks to Unknown Prophet for setting up these visits.

The first cuts came in on Oct 1 and I got 3 lbs of tops per plant. The rest of the D.O.Gs will be harvested and dried in the first part of this week so I'll know the exact yield soon... I guess I should say at least 5# per

I think that if you're going to have supplemental lighting any strain put in to 450 gallons of dirt, especially if dude is going to only have 2 will get gigantic...green house plants grow faster than full sun plants in the summer because of the increased humidity and a little warmer under the cover and the ability to just leave the lights on till July 31 ( some thing I will be doing in 2011 ) you will see some gigantic ganja trees.

Can't wait to start harvesting some of that Bomb Threat...!

i was thinking about running casey jones and super silver haze. any thoughts on these two particular strains, and their space requirements in regards to my greenhouse dimensions(14x28)? my experience comes entirely from indoor, with the exception of this summer. I used 20 gallon pots and found that the casey was the standout for yield.
i also have the following varieties in my nursery to choose from if anyone thinks they would make a better selection: god bud, jack the ripper, sage n sour, jillybean, 707 headband, purple diesel, ssh x sd

Nice. Part of the master plan for 2011 involves a continuous harvest from mid September. Something that finishes October 1st would be sweet for after the real early strain, whatever it turns out to be. What do you think you could get out of the DOG if you had her in the pot, under cover with supplight on May 1?

I would stick with the SSH.
