BeAn...Hey Marra...doing good....
You...?
Girls are fine m8..but being honest..they haven't hardly moved since before I went away.
This is the longest patch of dank and torrential rain since I got here.
Apparently our local hospital has had 400 cases of severe mozzie bites in the last week..and they don't normally have Any....
(Wish you were Here...?.......)
Gonna set the cupboard up tomorrow

glad to hear man, all is well here...had no smoke untill i found a carrier bag of ggdp in the garage...was trimming a wispy seeded plant that was as big as me, and after a while got fucked off n threw the un trimmed wet buds in a bag and put it on the shelf, forgot about it untill i was looking for a container to put sinfull early indoor buds in...lol...girls are good, nepal males outdoor liking the cold...mexican is finishing up, the congo is still going and is 4 wekks ahead of the mexi lol..wish i was in spain man, id seriously D.I.Y amputate one toe on each foot to have an unhindered future off 365 day outdoor grows...tis a dream, all i want for xmas is a poly tunnel in spain..:)

that little bird in your signiture tells me that the jem is bieng re released, fuck yeah man i want the red one.......!!:woohoo:

wow mossy, those colors are amazing man. :jawdrop::bow:

fantastic pictures as allways, thanks a mill for sharing. i especially like that royal red pheno. im so sorry my dysleksia caused a pagelong highjacking of yer thread.

i reccon you run yours on a 18/6 or closer to 12/12 regime? if so do you think it affects the size of the plants? also, how tall do you think they can get? whats the tallest auto you have seen?

hope you dont mind all the questions, this is my first run with autos, and im totally bitten by the bug :D peace mossy, keep up the good work master

Aw me too marra..me too..

:listen2: If I win the lottery and get one..I will send for you.
If you cannot move over full-time..I'll book you a nice long holiday over harvest time and we can smoke and yap until our hearts are content. :joint:
That could take a while...:chin:
:biglaugh: :biglaugh:

girls are good, nepal males outdoor liking the cold...mexican is finishing up, the congo is still going and is 4 wekks ahead of the mexi

Sounds as if you better bring the Girls with Ya..
your girls would make good matches for mine..:yummy:

hey mossy, you should lucked out or chose very wisely on your only ever seed purchase
Cheers pimp_grow!

Total luck m8.
I knew diddley-squat about canna when I made my selection.
But..I'm a plantsman...I know Genetics...without having to know the specific plant.
I would have done exactly the same with a geranium..:biglaugh:

If I'd been sold sh*te..I could have told you that After I had grown them out..
but not before.
I relied on breeders blurb like everyone else

I can rifle through genetics like a terrier after a rat..
if it is there..I can get it. out.
but it has to be there in the first place.
Luckily..it was there..as you can tell by what I got out.

wow mossy, those colors are amazing man
Cheers arcticsun..they have given me Years of pleasure.

No need to ever apologise for hi-jacking here...my threads are sharing/learning threads..Always.

reccon you run yours on a 18/6 or closer to 12/12 regime?
On a lighted grow I will run 20/4.
It seems to be optimum.
I know some people go full 24 hour light..but I cannot get over the fact that every living thing needs a rest period.
Mostly I grow outdoor...and then they are at the mercy of natural light patterns.

IMO..I find Hours and Quality of light are More important to them than temperature.
I have had them in extreme heat and cold and both affect them to some degree..
but low light screws the growth and leads to mold/bug problems on even the most hardiest ones.

whats the tallest auto you have seen?
This is hard to answer as you have seen me trying to catagorise these semi-auto..:chin:
But..
if the semi-autos are simply Large/taller autos that step outside the designated time scale set by the Joint Doctor for the Original LR's..
then I have had everything from 8 inch phenos to 4.5 footers.

this is my first run with autos, and im totally bitten by the bug
With you m8..they are so rewarding to grow
and I think the further into the generations we get..the better the plants themselves become.

Have a great weekend everyone. :joint:

thanks for the reply mossy  -about the all living thing needs a rest thingy .. just have to remind you about the arctic fauna, the midnight sun which we have in my area in summer.

alltho from july 20th the sun is no longer visible at midnight, from that date we get 10 minutes less sun each day. its still very light nights throught most of august. trees shed their leaves in september which has 4-6 night hours.

the pehkuruder male was about 3 feet, the females about a foot taller. just an inch or so short of 4 feet.

i think ill try to pollinate a ssh female with some pollen from the pehkuruder male. i would want her to be even larger if possible.

my problem at this stage is that i only have one male, he is a stud, but all ancestors off this line will come from that male. is this a major problem do you think? -with future X'ing in mind?

also i have read that prolonged internode spacing is a masculine feature, if i choose a female with long internode spacing does that mean she will have a lower THC content then her shorter sister? -im speculating here that THC production is a feminine trait which will be more dominant in a more feminine mother.

hope you understand the questions, let me know and ill try to rephrase.

thanks for any reply guys, -massive respect -arcticsun

Does it affect Humans much...like interfere with your sleep patterns etc..?
I am very light dependant for sleep/wake patterns..it would kill me.

my problem at this stage is that i only have one male, he is a stud, but all ancestors off this line will come from that male. is this a major problem do you think? -with future X'ing in mind?
IF it was me..(don't everyone shout at me at once...:biglaugh:)
I would take the chance...then open up the male selection in your f1's and
f2's..then start picking your Studs.

Because most canna are mongrels..
(LR /AF's have 3 crosses just in the LR side alone..)
I would say you could pick the diversity up within the male itself
BUT..that is only off the top of me head..not playing with it myself..
it is hard to judge.

pipeline will probably know about the tech side than me..he has qualifications...:smoke:

we all learn from brainstorming sessions.

hi again mossy. god i love that picture of the dog at the beach it looks like a great time for you both :D

about the light deprivation thingy with humans in the arctic. this is a very complicated issue, as there has been a recent study done which says that people from my region in the arctic are much happier and less depressed then people in sunny italy. this could have something to do with the fact that arctic scandinavians have much more sex then other europeans, drink more cognac and wine then any other people on earth and eat more fish. and there is also a strong economy which means people have money to travel to feks spain if they want to.

there is also the acclimatization factor which makes locals less prone to light deprivation related issues such as lack of vitamin D. light skinned people absorb much more vitamin D from the sunlight then dark skinned people do. there also seems to be a degree of cold resistance in the locals here. we have a certain quite large percentage of people that we call climate refugees. people that cant handle the climate and move south. this is apparently less likely for people with a long family history in the area. however this can be from many reasons. the most prominent feature of this acclimatization among caucasian nordics is the light skin which helps in absorbing vitamins from the sun and the narrow nostrils and nose as opposed to the africans wider nose structure. ive heard this is a feature which helps when inhaling very cold air through the nose.

i often hear that foreign workers and immigrants say they suffer from depressions in the winter. i think this has more to do with the extreme weather which makes you have to spend an awful lot of time indoors unless you have the nessesary survival skills for the arctic outdoor. which very few foreigners do.

take a dog breed like the alaska malamut for example. it has a very calm behavior indoor. it has lived with the inuits for generations, having to wait out extreme weather for extended periodes of time. whenever it doesnt have to work it lies down to rest and save energy for a potential extreme situation. i think we see much the same behavior in arctic people, a mellow placid behavior- calm and patient.

for non natives especially the arctic summer seems to have an exillerating effect. the continous sunlight gives energy.. seemingly, until people get exhausted from neglecting the bodys signals. there is a degree of confusion between what the body tells you and what the eyes tells you. body says night, eyes tells you its daylight outside. one learns to be very attentive to the bodys signals.

ive often had visitors who come here for the first time explain the experience as like being on a different planet. in my eyes i would find the constant routine of an equal length day and night as barbaric and torturously boring like a jail sentence. this is as strange to me as i guess my habitat is to others.

come to think of it, many birds migrate and experience a continous summer. many species migrate from antarctica to the arctic and back. a species with this behavior is the albatross, it grows larger and lives longer then any other bird.

it will be very interresting to see what mutations comes from breeding true autos in the arctic. these pehkuruders are bred at 62 north, just alittle south of the arctic circle. id like to see a 7 foot auto on the long term, suitable for scandinavian and alaskan/north canadian outdoor.

i do hope you are right regarding the single male problem. hopefully someone can answer that. im hoping that by using a ssh, which is a strain with great hybrid vigour, that this will bring some pheno variation in the offspring. what you said does sound logic, that put me somewhat at ease. i guess i need to put these in the hands of a capable breeder at some time, the first priority however is to ensure stock of beans for the local scene. first of all because i think the acclimatization they can get here is unique and priceless and second because the people here really descerves and needs a shot at a descent outdoor crop.

ill try to see if i find that thread on feminine and masculine features, its been a while since i read it so i dont know if ill be successful in retrieving it tho.

thanks again for helping me aswering my newb questions, im sure ill have a ton more as i go along.

all the best -arcticsun

I will be saving it all and we will chat..it is certainly a train of interest
on the human reaction..and I am really looking forward to seeing how it affects plant growth.
Great.

i think you were banned for trying to sell other breeder's work behind their backs, don't lie...
