Tutorial Organics for Beginners

First off thanks burnone for posting this shot, I had a Casey clone that was doing very poorly from some kind of ph lockout. Since then I put it in lc's no 1 and it's been getting healthier ever since. Got one more question, is the greensand supposed to supply K? The only greensand I can find is 0-0-5 but I was thinking kelp meal was supplying the K.

Thanks

Kelp should supply plenty of K. It has a lot of trace nutrients also.

If you have a fire place and any type of hardwood, the ash is also a great K source. And free.

Go for the K-Mag Natural 0-0-22. GIVE THEM A CALL OR write an e-mail and they will send you free samples. When I was in America I used this stuff all the time. Looks like salt. Comes in fine or medium.

What is the chemical analysis of K-Mag Fertilizer?
The chemical analysis of K-Mag is 21-22% potassium (K20), 10.5-11% magnesium (Mg), 21-22% sulfur (S), 2.5% chloride (Cl) maximum, and 0.14% water (H20).

I have posted this up a hundred times I cannot understand why people do not use it. Here is their link.

Good luck.

dolomite lime has like calicum and other good stuff too

I understand it has other stuff in it, but in reference to it being used as a PH buffer I don't understand how it works... From what I understand it helps the nutrients get soaked up when they aren't the proper PH. However, I thought that was what the humus was for, not the dolomite?

From Burnones original post:
"The humus will allow the nutes to be taken up through the roots, even at such an extreme pH reading.
So throw those pH meters away folks and enjoy the ease and safety of organic gardening."

Does this mean that when I am just RO water feeding (or any organic nutrient feed), for this matter I just ignore testing the PH, because the Humus will change and alter the PH within the soil when the reaction takes place down there?

And if so I have a bottle of some organic humic acid from Humbolt Nutrients, would that be a good thing to through in my mushroom compost tea w/ molasses for the plants to break it up and digest everything properly? Or is that something different?

By the by does anyone know where to find dolomite other than walmart? mine doesn't have it...?

Lime helps to keep ph of soil stable. Not sure the chemistry, but thats what it does. Also is a CaMg supplier.

Most lowes carry lime. Check there.

As for ph with organics...No need. A healthey soil and all is fine.

Would you suggest watering with Epsom salts as a way to fix a magnesium deficiency (they are 53 days into flowering with a 65-70 day strain)? I am using LCs soilless mix #1 with recipe #1 (mixed exactly to a T except I used pelletized dolomite lime because I could not find any powdered) I think this is causing a cal/mag deficiency or do you think it could be a ph problem?

maybe lime is like some vitamins, keep em strong so ph dont matter? i need to read some books...

The pH is still the same. Humus (humates / humic acids) let the plant take up nutes without "lockout". The pH doesn't change.

i've got all kinds of worms in my mix and theyre not fishin worms, does that mean my mix is alive?..plants are growin like a mfer.

hahaha "I've got worms... excuse me? I've got worms.":muahaha:
I think your soil is "alive" when you treat it as such. If you are feeding the soil enzymes, beneficial bacteria, fungi, and it has a system of replenishing itself by creating the food it needs through natural reactions it is "alive". Compost teas, top dressing, probably even your worms doing their thing are all biological reactions that take place in the soil that help the plant... so I would guess yes...? But it's a guess so don't take my word.
I wonder if live worms damage the roots at all?

So humus makes it so that it doesn't matter what the PH is, because it will still allow it to be taken up by the plant. No matter if the PH of the water or final organic nute/tea is 3.2 or 8.7, it will still receive the benefits because it allows the plant to take it up regardless. I understand now, thanks for that, made it a lot more clear.

So without the humus in the mix, I will have PH problems, especially in a soiless mix. I'll make sure I have that with the teas, should I also find a source (like a powdered humus) to put in with my COCO mix? and if so what is a good source?

MG organic and earth juices

MG organic and earth juices

Like a dumb ass, I didnt research enough and just started growing. I dont even have a ph meter, yet.. but one is coming.... Have a aquarium ph test kit, and it says I was way high so I have given everything a light flush with some vinegar adjusted water, and it seems to have helped.
I grew 6 years ago with a soiless mix much like #1 and it worked real well, but I apparently forgot that. I found a bag of seeds marked White Peak, which I vaguely remember and germinated 12 of them, my legal limit.
Any way, they all popped, and I stuck them in 1 gallon pots of organic miracle grow, with about 20% vermiculite, and 20% perlite under a 430w son agro light.

Half the plants took right off, and are still doing well. The other half turned yellow, N def, and I gave them some liquid MG organic and some super thrive. That brought them out of it, but they arent doing as well as the others as you can imagine. The only thing I can think that happened is the miracle grow wasnt consistant enough, although I mixed it real well.

The plants are 27 days old now, under a 600w mh, and need transplanting cuz the roots are coming out the bottom of pots. I have some earthjuice grow, and earthjuice bloom along with a couple bags of the miracle grow organic. Does the MG organic have the microbe stuff in it allready? Or will the earth juice help me out in that respect?

My plan is to mix the same stuff up to use for transplanting and start flowering next week. But add some earth juice grow until transplant shock is over then go to the earthjuice flower... Will it work?

I dont have access to hydro shop, out here in boonies, but have wal-mart, home depot, lowes.... Although they are replaceing all the garden stuff with Christmas things. I can order some things if anyone, anyone at all has some suggestions to help this dumb ass get his shit together. I dont know what half the brands I read here are, or what I really need to make this organic grow go.... I see people talking about cal/mag.. is that a brand name or???? I suppose some lime would help, or is it in the MG? I wouldnt be against ordering a whole new supply if need be.. Of course someone may have to hold my hand and tell me where to order it...

Its amazing how much stuff I cant remember until I realize I cant remember.... make any sense>???? lol

Help me out..

Thanks..:fsu:

fishwater-
The hard work has already been done for you. I'm not going to hold your hand. It's up to you to read and look for what you can use.
I suggest you make one of LC's Mixes and use Recipe #1.
