If the temperature goes up 50 degrees when reheating shouldn't it be smart to start low then raise it if you want as much flavor and high as possible due to not burning anything which degrades the substances?.
I've got an Extreme Q. Just checked their site for a fitting from the whip into a water pipe (frosted glass fittings). No dice.
Anyone know where I can find such a doodad?
I'd love to find a groove to use the whip, but on its own, it doesn't really do much for me. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like if I could fill up the chamber on a tube, that might do more for me.
Does anyone know if the SSV reheats at a higher temp?
Raising the temp will dry out the weed at a much faster pace. With every hit, as you extract vapor from the weed, it becomes drier. Increasing the temp on top of it will create that thick visible vapor indicative of overheating.
LOWERING the temp while the weed dries out, preserves the pot, keeping it moist and tasting better. Your high increases and you wind up vaping much less pot overall.
If you go through more weed vaping than smoking, you are vaping at too high a temp.
After I discovered I was vaping at too high a temp, I found I was changing the screens more often. They get gummy a lot quicker when you vape properly. I replace my screen every 5-10 uses now as opposed to every 20 or 30.
Many people like to grind their weed prior to vaping it. I don't do this because you wind up vaping all the taste out of it on the first hit. I'll put a bud in and rotate it around the first couple hits. Then I have a small pair of scissors I use to snip the bud after a hit to release some flavor. One snip per hit. By the time I'm finished, the bud is all chopped up, dry, sandy shake, all the vapor removed. And because I lowered the temp the whole way, I never get a bad taste in my mouth.
You guys just have to try my coke can pipe it's the shit!
I used to make a new one every time I traveled... love that slurpee effect too br0
Sand... expansion level refers to the heaviness of the toke, or the rate it expands after being released into vapor/smoke... when it hits the lungs does it dissipate or does it expand? I prefer a massive expansion.
I've had my Volcano for 10 years, and it's been very helpful with my pain relief, but it seems to be lacking in the hit department, and takes many bags to actually get the relief I need. Also the taste is rather ordinary, and I hate buying consumables. Since most of the other vapes on the market are so poor imassumed the Volcano must be the best of a bad bunch.
I was mistaken. I found the Verdamper at the Treating Yourself Hemp Expo in Toronto last year and fell in love with the device. It's very frugal with bud, while still hitting hard. And it's so tasty! When you use the verdamper you are able to find out everything about your bud, because the taste is so clear and pronounced. Great device. And cheaper than the volcano, he was selling them for $575 at the show. Great value. I'm going to get one when I go to the cup in November.
KonradZuse,
Your post is too long to quote and while I don't think I'm going to convince you of anything, I will respond to you nonetheless, simply because I find Europeans amusing.
1) Whether my vape is actually "reheating" or not, I have no idea. The digital thermometer claims the temp gets sucked down into the low 100s (Farenheit) whenever I inhale and takes about 30 seconds for the digital reading to "reheat." And it usually reheats hotter than what its set at, as I've mentioned numerous times above. I have toked, however, before it "reheats" and it doesn't seem to affect anything. Perhaps the digital thermometer is overly sensitive, but that wouldn't explain why it reheats hotter. Yes, I have a shitty vape and this thread is aimed at those, like me, with shitty whip-style vapes. For those of you with your Bentley thermostat controlled vapes, fuck off, this isn't for your rich ass. I still have over $200K in student loans to pay back, I'm not buying a geothermonuclear vape.
2) I agree thick rips don't equal overheating. Thick rips plus burnt popcorn taste does.
3) When I'm discussing moist weed versus dry, I am speaking in relative terms. Some weed is drier than others. I buy medicinal grade from California coops because I have my recommendation. The Green Crack I have right now is fairly moist, you get nice perfume hits at first and see almost no vapor. My Woody Kush, however, is relatively dry and I pull some pretty thick vapor off the first hit. I'm not a noob, I've been smoking chronically every day for over 20 years. You are talking to me like I'm an idiot. It just may be that I'm misinterpreting your Euro tone.
4) Now that I'm not overheating, certain strains will gum up my screens faster than others. The Alaskan Mist I have right now will gum it up in 3 sessions. Less sticky strains I don't have a problem with. But I agree with your assertion that vaping too hot will destroy some actives. That's why I believe lowering the temp was responsible for better highs.
5) That makes sense, what you said about pulling air over the nugs. And I do notice that with the smaller nugs I throw in, now that you mention it. But I pull the perfume off the side of the nug closest to the heating element. Then I turn it on the next hit, and get another perfume hit. Then I snip it on the third hit, releasing more flavor.
6) The bottom line is that if it works for you and it ain't broke, then don't fix it. I was hoping this thread would reach out to two types of people: (a) people who don't vape because they haven't experienced the vaporbong and (b) people who vaporbong but may be vaping too hot.
And I love you Europeans btw, I just didn't feel like converting temps on google atm.

I missed a good portion of your wall of text but it sounds like you are unhappy with your SV? I eventually learned to gauge the temp of my Supreme by 'torch time' I will admit that the digital display is klugy and varies from vape to vape. I know it changed when I had to replace it and the temp probe (so I feel your pain there in regards to temp) And yes, I will agree that it can very easily 'overvape' your herb before you know it. Yes, this can be VERY frustrating.
My suggestion to you would be to look into a GOOD whip based vape. Once I got my SSV, my Supreme went to one of my good buddies. Can my SSV combust? Absolutely... BUT - once you get your temp dialed in after playing with it (when you first get it) it will give you rip after rip after rip of thick milky hits. AND it does it oh so gently without combusting. (Stirring between hits mind you)
Good luck in your vapor quest!
