IF you can't find kelp meal, per se, AND you're considering buying Maxicrop, then perhaps you could consider buying this product for $13.99 per lb. Rate of usage is 1.5 tsp. per gallon of water - about 96 gallons of ready to use kelp extract.
Maxicrop arrives in the USA from Norway as a powder as well. It's mixed with water and bottled though their powder is also available. It's about 2x the price of the product I linked to.

Just 6 weeks into flower, and my first attempt at the organic thing with LC#2 & dry nutes, I thought I'd post some thoughts and a pic or 2.
These Blue Dreams did not stretch the way I have seen them do in hydro or soil with bottled nutes. I think the reason might be due to the fact that the ingredients used (bone meal, blood & kelp meal) in my soil might not be of high quality and therefore have a bit lower nutrient availability.
They have been getting plenty of Maxicrop kelp in the watering & foliar regimen and an EWC tea about once a week or every 10 days or so, early on, they got the EWC via foliar also. Kudos to MM and CTGuy for their knowledge.
And truth be told, even though I am slowly getting to B1's belief about ph and organics, I have been ph'ing all waterings to 6.3 +/-. Overall, I am thankful to B1 for his easy to follow beginner instructions.
On the plus side, this has been a very easy grow. It appears that the quality and quantity will be above average, as compared to a soil grow with bottled nutes.
There are still 2.5 to 3 weeks left in flower.
The only deficiencies (aside from the questionable quality of the underlying meals used) is an occasional Mg deficiency, easily treated by a few epsom salt foliars and several epsom salt applications in the 2 alfalfa tea waterings I gave 'em. This side did not get the K-Mag in the soil ahead of time, so it was given several doses of Liquid Sulfate of Potash (Aagrand product), and just recently, was given a few applications of "Sulfate of Potash" that I finally obtained as a soluble power. Thank you V and CC.
I used Dr. Earth's Kelp Meal, but the boxes were at least 3 years on the shelf, so not fresh. The bone and blood was "miracle grow" organic meals, I don't think I would use any of these products in the future. I'll be more discriminate in the selection of the bone, blood and kelp meals I mix into the soil in the future.
Critiques and comments welcome.
I tried a few green houses, nurseries, garden centers, hardware stores and even a hydro store and no kelp meal in my area!! The hydro store did have the liquid maxicrop though but I really want to blend the dry blood/bone/kelp meals into my soil mix. The only blood meal I could find was "Organic" but it was time realeased? I stayed away from it. I guess the internet it is.
RECIPE #5
Fish and Seaweed (This is sooo easy)
For veg growth…
1 capful 5-1-1 Fish Emulsion
1 capful Neptune's Harvest 0-0-1 Seaweed or Maxicrop liquid
1 gallon H2O
For early flowering…
1 tbs. Neptune’s Harvest 2-3-1 Fish/Seaweed
1 gallon H2O
For mid to late flowering…
1 tbs. Neptune’s Harvest 2-4-1 Fish
1 gallon H2O
Go to the hydro store, show them the maxicrop product and tell them to order it. that's what I did and it was there the next day with no shipping charges.
Simple.
yourcorpseI didn't know you were an artisan baker CC, i just started getting into it heavily this year. Nothing beats a bread that takes days to make.
Mix all the dry ferts into the soiless mix well and wet it, but don't soak it with Liquid Karma and water @ 1 tbs./gal.
If using recipe 5, can i add in molases during flower? If so how much?

I think this is what they were trying to say..So ...don't soak it with liquid karma? When do you add the liquid karma and how much?

My name is listed in the last book as I was one of 500 'beta testers' for the formulas that eventually found their way into the final edition.
You might want to look into joining the Bread Bakers Guild of America (BBGA) - some areas of the country have active chapters.
Are you able to buy General Mills' "Harvest King" flour by any chance?
CC
yourcorpseI have the Bread Baker's Apprentice and Crust and Crumb (also by Reinhart) that my girlfriend bought be this year. the first one being a bible to me, hah.
I will also check into the whole grain breads book, i love a hearty bread. Very cool that you beta tested some recipes!
I'll check into the BBGA , i would love to be apart of something like that.
I have not used harvest king flour from GM, i will see if my local stores carry it, if not im sure i can find it somewhere online.
I use mostly king arthur bread flour, and king arthur sir lancelot hi-gluten flour, and of course some rye flour.
grapemanA Question CC. I am ordering a # of the seaweed to try from the link. But I noticed that there is NO N-P-K ratios for the product at the website. I know that the majority of nutes will not come from any seaweed/kelp product, but it'd be nice just for comparison purposes.
so the question comes down to your experience I suppose. In your experience, is this a comparable/superior product?
Thanks
Seriously, you're better off ordering the soluble from simplicitea as CC said.
96 gallons for $13.99 of better quality vs. $30 a gallon for Maxi..I would guess that Maxi buys the soluble from the exact same source as them, and then waters it down for you and charges you more...Snag a pound of Humic acid while you are there as well.

I think this is what they were trying to say..
Add LK to water at 1tbsp per gallon, and then water until soil is wet, but not soaked.
The idea is to keep moist instead of heavily watered.
