At least the MMED requirements help to reduce the number of stupid people trying to legally work with cannabis. Most of the folks I know who would even be remotely interested in growing or selling weed in CO have some kind of criminal record, most of them because they did something stupid and got caught. CO is most likely not going to make it easier to get clearance to work with cannabis legally.

To the OP, if you want to grow commercially, I hope you have some cash. You need to be able to grow enough volume to make up for the lower margins that a legal market is going to create.

That's because CO actually has shit to do outdoors. It's a very physical state. I found the same to be true in the Sierras. People are a lot healthier in more rugged places. Forget dieting. It's not about how much you eat, it's about how much you use your body.

Thanks for this. I got so pissed off and frustrated at our idiotic and corrupt government here in North Carolina that I'm seriously thinking about up and moving the fuck out -- if I can sell my house with our state economy going from the toilet to the septic tank.

We've been trying to get a medical marijuana bill through for four years. Finally got a bill with a number assigned. Been calling the rules committee chair (the fucking douchebag who brought us the anti breast legislation http://www.alternet.org/news-amp-politics/nc-gop-declares-war-womens-bare-breasts) for weeks to find out when the MMJ bill will come out of committee for an up or down vote.

As of yesterday, they couldn't tell us when or if the rules committee would meet, like GFY, we meet when we want to. Come to find out they called a meeting at the last minute and killed our bill, just like that, today. The GOP owns this state and they're going to abuse it until it stops twitching.

The "no titties" bill -- which I don't think anyone in the state was lobbying for, unlike MMJ which has about a 60% approval rating -- sailed right the fuck through. Fracking is on a fast track, too.

So yeah, looking into moving. I want to live somewhere beautiful and out in the country, if I can get a place for $75K or less on at least an acre or two, not too many asshat conservatives around, I'll be good to go.

Where would you look for the above situation?

Yeah, it's kind of looking like that. I have my own non-weed income generation that I can do anywhere, so I'm not looking to hop on the green rush. (Though I do think trimming buds would satisfy both my love of weed and my OCD/love of using fine motor skills for hours.)

I've actually been thinking about New Mexico, because as mentioned above, I just want freedom to not be bothered with bullshit on my own property. Doesn't seem like that much to ask, but apparently it's not happening in NC. (We're just finding out now that somehow, don't ask me the fuck how, corporations own the mineral rights under some people's houses and they don't know it.)

Anyway, NM is a medical state, and to my knowledge the state where you can also cultivate shrooms legally. If I can grow my own weed there I'll never have to leave. Only problem is the landscape -- kind of reminds me of vacant lots in the inner city where I grew up. A big flat bunch of nothing with little scrubby plants every here and there.

Colorado is pretty. I don't know, maybe I'll look into Oregon. There are a bunch of cheap houses in the Emerald Triangle. Juneau, Alaska would be great, but also spendy. Fuck it. Guess I should start getting my place ready to sell.

This place is a hot mess and only getting hotter with the situation in the state house. I wish there was somewhere we could go to live that weed was legal and fracking was illegal. I must be crazy.

They've fracked the shit out of Colorado, which is something I really need to look into in terms of if I'm going to be able to find somewhere in the state not directly affected.

North Carolina is going to be completely trashed before it's said and done.

I think that's mostly what I'm looking for -- a place where at least people fight back. There are a lot of people here trying to fight back, too. But there's this kind of inertia in the south, where even if people agree with you they sort of resent you bringing up problems that they could just avoid. So the people trying to fight back have a serious uphill battle -- not only the Republicans, but the moderate people who care but don't want to hear about it or do anything. It's hard to explain.

I've been told about a little town in the mountains that sounds pretty great for me -- Crestone. What's the fracking sitch in the mountains? Fort Garland looks great, and Pagosa Springs. I've found quite a few possibilities there.

I look at the aerials of some places I've found with good acreage, in the flatlands near the mountains, and seen massive yellow, red, and black pools. I reckon that's the fracking. I believe we'll find chemical solutions to the pollution in the years to come. But honestly I more don't want to deal with the social disruption -- lots of drunk, bored men, heavy truck traffic, smell, noise, etc.

I don't know about Garland, but Pagosa Springs can be nose bleed expensive. Crede would be less expensive, but remote and right leaning. Lake City is cool, but again very remote and somewhat pricey. Gunnison is nice, but again it can be pricey. Someone mentioned Salida, its an area I would be interested in. Very cool pinon juniper forests, kinda reminds me of a model railroad landscape.
