So is anybody getting real road kill skunk smells. (after dry/cure)
Or just more of the sweet sweet?

Roadkill was roadkill dry. Nothing sweet about it.
From what I'm reading this sounds like something similar to the chem family.

Except the pine. I like that. Damn I wish Pine Tar Kush was about.

:tiphat:

nice show keep up the work

TR

I haven't found any true roadkill skunk yet.

The 4 I had went like this
Garlicky - keeper
Sweet/Dead - not a keeper
Pine - actually has the weirdest odor of them all, it dried up into a cucumber melon lotion/pine smell. Very unique, I bet women would love it. Im not sure if I will keep it much longer.

And this last pheno up above, too early to say for sure because it needs to dry, but at this moment Im not getting any RKS odor. A full dried report will be posted in about 2 weeks.

The thing with testing for roadkill skunk is you kind of have to have the test done by someone from North America that has actually smelled a skunk. If you've never smelled a skunk you wouldn't know what to look for.

The skunk bud I used to get when I was younger was loud skunk, not kind of like skunk it smelled just like a skunk. The whole car would stink.

Im a little disappointed to not have found true skunk, I had really high hopes. Atleast I got some nice buds to smoke and a few keeper plants to run a few times.

The garlic pheno albeit not skunk is still some killer herb. I liked it so much I am on my 3rd run with it.

I myself will continue to look for RKS. I found a Med Man RKS male that has skunk like odor, I might fuck around with some F2's for a bit. Im going to use the garlic pheno and the purple pheno's as these were the best and had the most branching.

P.S

I was looking at the old SSSC catalog the other day, and even when those catalogs were made the Skunk #1 was listed as a sweet strain. So I kind of have my doubts that roadkill skunk was skunk at all.

Exactly.

The garlic is what made me think the chem family.
The sweeter notes brought chem sis to mind.

I agree with what you said about RKS not being a skunk as well.

Round the time of it's emergence people were being forced inside from the outside and switching from long sativas to shorter style indicas.

I believe some heavy afghan work is where that smell orginated from.

Thank you for being honest. Glad you got a few pheno's you felt worthwhile to keep.

Hello I found that the smell really came out in the cure. Mine weren't too stinky at the end but after 2-3 weeks in the jar very smelly. I also took them earlier than some with mostly clear some cloudy no amber. I took a bong hit last nite and nearly passed out! Nice head rush and its been a while for that, I think the last time was some killer og kush . I hope Medman can isolate the best RKS IBL and keep it out there. Meantime I am getting some prsk peace sdd

Looks like the Skunks left me a few presents, been trimming and found a few seeds in some other plants I had.

So far I found 10 schrom x rks, 5 chem sis/nevilles hz x rks and a few RKS #4 S1's.

Smoking some #4 tonight very potent bud, but Im going to hold off till it has a week or 2 to cure. The #4 buds look top shelf, I can't wait to show you guys. :joint:

So I got a chance to take some pictures today of the RKS pheno 4.

I still have a few smoke reports to get to, hopefully this weekend I will find some time. I also have some pheno #2 in flower now so I'll get some pics of those up too.

In the meantime here is some dried bud pics of RKS Female #4.
Beautiful bud, very colorful.

I'd say it's a hybrid high all the way. It's very relaxed but just like the pheno's it's very introspective, you can do what ever, but you might find yourself lost in thought. It's a quiet high, not very social.

This #4 purpleish pheno is much cleaner than the others in the high, no paranoid edge not quite as intense but a long lasting smooth ride. It smoother flavor, it's more kushy tasting, it kind of taste like it looks if that makes any sense, hashy, purple, smooth, flavor stays with you for a while.

Potency is very strong, it's strain for medicating more than once a day, I've smoked 2 joints of it today equally high both times.

Smell is weird, is has slight hints of a garlicy funk covered over by mellow sweetness. Not dead sweet like the #1 pheno more of a mellow fruity/berry sweet to it.

I think this one would be most liked, it's very good in all categories, and mellow enough in flavor and smell for anyone to enjoy.

Here's a couple more pics, first one under fluorescent light shows truer colors.

This one gets a 10 for bag appeal.

I just took down my RKS Female #2 (best pheno) round 2 plant on day 64 12/12. Sorry I didn't get any plant pics, but I have another one in flower I will get some pics of that one when it gets further a long.

Yield is improved from round one, also odor. I feel so far the odor is much stronger than round one, and perhaps less garlicky, but time will tell.

I'll get some dried pics put up in a few days.

I think these should go closer to 70 days but I had to chop them in a hurry, nanners start popping out around day 55.

I had nanners and a few seeds on 2 of my females from round 1, at the time I wasn't sure the cause but now after round 2 I feel they are genetic.

I did find about 40 seeds in the bottom buds on female #4 purple pheno and about 20 seeds in a few other plants that had been pollinated by the skunk nanners.

It's weird, the nanners seem to pop out from the lowest buds and make seeds right a long the base. I guess that's the plant telling you they are done.

Im going to pass the seeds off to a friend, I think these will be perfect genetics for him.

sweet pics man. ya mike had the same thing on his keeper.

i notice that even my silver skunk will throw nanners once they want to be chopped.

i have never taken a skunk plants longer the 8 weeks. and the silver skunks usually need 6-7 weeks. i am very surprised about your 70 days though. what is your method to judge ripening hiding?

Well usually I take them when there is a few amber trichs.

Other than that it's a smoke test which will determine when I cut.
If a strain is close to being ready but gives me a sense of anxiety or raciness I will give it a few more days to take the edge off.

When cut early this skunk gives me a little raciness so my personal preference would be to take it at 70. But it is ripe enough at 64, with all cloudy trichs.

cool, thanks for sharing. i know its very subject to the user. i prefer the nice balance between body and head. typically most my kinds go 60 days then 3 days shock ripening.

so right on par with your trichome observation. i def find i lose alot of taste after this point, which is usually what matters most to me, even if i get a bit of spychosisi with it lol :)

I usually take just about everything to 70 days, these are the fastest strain I've had in a long time.

But I agree, I think smells and taste is better on the earlier side, over ripening is no good. I like just a few amber in the scope.

Super WELL Documented Test Grow Here HidingInTheHaze. I've been reading up all of the med-man threads in his section as I grow for smell and believe med-man is the breeder that brings some of the stinkiest kinds, definitely the stinkiest in Canadian Breeders hands down. If anyone can isolate the strain that gives us nugs that smell like they have been sprayed by a skunk Med-Man is the one who can put it in seedform. Might take a little more work but I believe it will eventually get there. Thank you for all the information you've brought to everyone here at ICMAG, I've been thinking about ordering some RKS from DNA or Reserva Privada as there is a big sale on the 7th but have decided against it from reading and watching too many bad reviews on the strain, apparently it isn't what they claim it to be. I also considered some of Med-Man's RKS but I think I will wait for some more work to be done on the cross before I proceed with the hunt for the skunk musk. Must say I've got some West Coast Sour Diesel going right now, 8 of them to be exact. I am thinking about reporting my findings with pictures here on ICMAG. I vegged them for about 3 months as I wasn't prepared for how stretchy they would get and wanted big yields. If you are looking for stinky and havn't tried the WCSD you should give them a shot, my entire house smells like a swimming pool filled with kerosene, cat piss, jet fuel and diesel fuel. Extreme funk and I'm loving every second of it! Some people grow for potency, some for flavor. I do it for the look on peoples faces when they get a whiff of the dank emanating from me at the grocery store LOL. Good luck on your hunt for the skunky monkey.

Thanks for the compliments.

I actually just finished my 3rd run with the garlicky pheno.
A few comments about it; each grow of this pheno I was able to alter the smell in some ways, first run was more garlicky but after a few changes in my grow the smell is now more skunky still with garlicky undertones but definitely more skunky.

I was also able to really improve the yield on the 3rd run too, I wish I had taken some pics.

I am done with this strain now as I have moved on to other things. It was a good couple runs, very dank buds, excellent resin coverage, very potent, with a powerful stink.

I appreciate the opportunity to test this strain, I am now going to consider this test grow complete :joint:
