i like to play dumb and not say much. i am great on tests so 168 , 172. but dont mean shit. i learn something almost every day. i love the internet as when i was a kid you were limited to the library and encylopedias [sp?]. no more
I believe that our culture often uses the word smart as a substitution for the word memory. It's as though the more you can remember, the smarter you are. Are you smarter than a fifth grader, for instance. I always thought that smart was synonymous with intelligence?
Just a little something I wanted to throw out there. I agree with everyone mentioning spelling and other things as having nothing to do with intelligence. Those of us that went through the public schools in the states had to accept learning with a "left hemisphere brain" delivery. Public schools had me Placed as a C-B student. I'm Very right brain dominant and organized thought, math and memory are not my strong suits. Yet somehow, my IQ test scores imply that I could choose any carrier I wanted, which isn't the case in real life. We really can't have all that accurate of a measurement of ones intelligence, without better defined aspects of the mind for a clearer picture of ones overall mental abilities.
Snagglepuss ... you're right! the values within an organisation travel from top downwards. uncertainty at the top rots the organisation.
and the inquiring mind must get smarter even tho it often gets into trouble for asking too many questions!
I too don't think bad spelling/grammar makes you stupid
I would even say that, some people who stop themselves at that, might actually be looking for people's short-comings
so as to, accept their own/make them feel better about themselves
i'm not perfect either

Not to mention, everyone on here knows how to spell and form a complete sentence ...
... get this shit leagal, yo!!!
well, for me smart means how quickly and how well one adapts to new circumstances ... like figuring out what to say in fifteen seconds when the man is thumping heavily on yr front door.
this is the problem ... the Irony even ... of politics and all leadership ... that to become a leader one must reflect the group's (nation's) viewpoint on most things ... which is a conservative position ... and that conservative position means the leader mostly regurgitates the old, the known, in order to maintain her/his leadership. so there is nothing new, there is not often anything smart, and things continue the way they have always been ...
What is it that they say about people living in glass houses?
I think every single grower or connoisseur i have met seemed to be of higher intelligence then those who are not. Maybe they just actually have common sense, as we all know its not that common.
