What's new

A perfect cure every time

Guess I'll just stick with these calibers. I really don't have a choice...don't have the time to return them, don't have the time to get something new.

Absolut...great link. Wish I had it before placing an order with a derelict eBayer that doesn't ship for two weeks. This curing process is turning into a migraine.

update from here

buds are sitting at 59-60% in the jar

i always leave them closed till i see 60% and then i take the buds out and put em back in and close again.

i have no old sock weed like i always used to have

but i just dried another clone from the same strain i am curing now and it smells a lot stronger.

i mean the buds don't smell bad or stale in the jar , but less strong as i expected , also when i open the jar there is no super dank strong smell

i'll just continue curing and see what happens

buds burn evenly and smoke pretty smooth considering they have been curing for 7 days and dried 7 days

i just hope i can get that fresh strong smell back in the jar

I usually don't expect a strong smell before 3-4 weeks, strain-dependent. As the cure progresses, the smell becomes more complex. IME, it takes a minimum of ~8 weeks for a strain to smell like its true self.

I finally bought a Caliber III, and a Boveda calibration packet, and the CIII was dead on at 75%. Its also alot smaller than I previously thought. Thanks again Simon for this great thread.

Patients and growers alike locally raved about my cure after using this. Simon...this is fucking brilliant and the end product is absolutely something for people to talk about.

Since I started using this method...I've been asked what my "secret" is dozens and dozens of times.

Personally...I think it's a combination of both this perfect cure...and the boatloads of Molasses I use.

Whatever...I've got longtime growers all of a sudden contacting me to get some of mine for their head jar.

i too am rather psyched, just starting my 1st 'from the start' caliber cure
i bought my caliber to check the state of my last cure, which i began by best guess
it gave me peace of mind, if nothing else
just tossed my 1 week dried bud into the jar, RH gradually crept up to 67%
that was enough for me, out they came, not going to try to catch the maximum humidity edge

That is really cool. :tiphat:

Someone close by has been growing for decades. He grows amazing stuff. He flipped out. Telling me how fantastic it was.

It wouldn't have gotten there without your curing process. I almost don't want to tell anyone.

Doesn't matter. Another long time grower asked me how I nailed it...but once I told him, he said, "I know how to cure...I'll just keep doing it the way I know how".

But that's just it. He DOESN'T know how to cure. And his customers always complain about the flavor, potency and finish of his product.

Oh well. Fuck 'em. You shared it with us...and at least we're smart enough to take your suggestion.

And it seems this cure is a bit harder to get down in our neck 'o da woodz than for most in more humid, sea-level climates......

I have been experimenting with quick curing for testing smoke during flowering. I dry them for a day in a paper bag in a warm location, then I put them into jars with a small amount of silica beads. The beads I ordered a dark blue and get lighter as they absorb more water. When they are spent you bake them in the oven to recharge them.

If you have humidity problems a small ramekin of silica beads in your curing jar may help out. Alternatively you could dehumidify the room / tent the curing jars are in so when you burp them they are getting dryer rather than wetter. Hope this helps.
