The way I found the best hash was to ask the guys that worked in the porn shops in the red light. Just ask locals. be polite and smile. that works in most cultures.

Why are you guys that complain about quality and prices, only been in the MOST COMMERCIAL Coffeeshops!??
When I was there, The Bulldog was the only commercia CF I went to...
Newer in my life seen so good qualities and low prices than when I was in the Dam... But it was NOT IN THE central of Amsterdam, or Ledseplein area!
You have to walk you lazy asses!
The farther away from central area, the better prices and quality.
I´ve been in other cities in Holland too, and the prices were lower than in the dam, but same quality. But beeing in Amsterdam is worth it in my opinion, and the trip can be made pretty cheap if you put some effort in finding the right places and not jump in places that has the biggest signs.

Good advice hazy mate!
There are still a good few coffeeshops left that don't cater to tourists and sell good gear for decent prices. The hash especially, can be very good if you take the time to head off the beaten track and hunt out the best pieces.
Hazy did exactly that earlier this year and I was most impressed at the collection of hashes he accumulated, both for the quality and the price.

I asked locals what coffee shops to go to, not if they could score for me. your right though, if you are not careful you can get mugged. Also it was in the day time. Also I had my 300 pound 6'5" cousin with me.

i smoked orange bud, silver haze and bubblegum from a'dam today and i'm high now for hours and tasty it was.. it certainly was not garbage as some say.. it got me pretty damn high... and that what it is about...

I come from Amsterdam and was there like 25 times.....it's getting more and more "strong weed" and always more expensive!
The best I had this time was the "Sour Diesel" from coffeeshop Rokerij!
For 10 Euro, very very fruity ganja, very clear high....good to explore the city!
Ok, there are other good strains, all the hazes in grey area, greenplace dampkring barneys and so on...but 14-18 € is too much ....i bought e gram of the "good shit" smoked the whole in a pure one with my cousin and always had to notice that my sweet skunk and my nevill/mango haze at home are the better choice, hehe ;-)
They should lower prices and instead leave out the pushing-fertiliser to get more natural, tasteful ganja to a good price for everyone....!

I recommend a little look at all the cheap varieties in Dampkring. Depends on what's what at the time, but you can usually find some good taste and good potency weed amongst these cheaper strains. In the past we've found joy with their Amnesia Skunk and Jack Herer, but as with any coffeeshop what was good last month may be atrocious the next.

the best pot i ever smoked was in the dam hawaiin haze from either tertulia or kadinsky or hell might not be either one of them lol, all i know is you walk down steps into it and its a real nice place with flowers on left when you walk in and the bar is small with a few stools a lil ordering spot but the bar itself is a very old and one of the nicest bars i ever saw, it had two person very tall stools along walls made of a the same wood as bar on a smaller scale it was a very small place very nice and dutch dragon from dutch flowers was the second best with amnesia from grey area a close 3rd but this was in 05,,,bt my favorite coffee shop was twede kramer, very nice rasta worked there named tim i gave him some of my american newports he was very grateful he showed me how to roll spliffs with thte filters lol,,,,peace
This is either a very sick joke or you know absolutely nothing about Amsterdam except what you hear from Fox news. Which is it? There is already too much mis information about The Netherlands without you adding to it.
^I always felt safe walking around in amsterdam, but you can get mugged in any city if you are not careful.

I always felt very safe in Amsterdam...just keep a wide berth from drunken and aggressive assholes, the sad street scum and friendly scammers and you will be good... If I was a single female I would not go out alone late at night alone as the streets can get nasty
and as wisely mentioned above one way to find out what's good that week in Amsterdam is to ask around at every opportunity in your hotel, at restaurants and retail shop workers..and especially other tourists in coffee shops "Hi, smoked any good quality bud or hash this week?"..most haven't got a clue, but there will be some pearls amongst the suggestions.
for those who haven't been to Amsterdam...you must go there at least once in your life, it is a must for any life long smoker of ganja, but don't go there for the quality of the bud, go there to experience real cannabis freedom,

id like to echo these sentiments amsterdam is such an amazing magical city theres so much more to it than just weed, ul always find something that will be pleasurable to smoke as your in such a pleasurable place!!
