I should have told you to get white pipe cleaners as they are easier to see when you want to remove them. Just thought I would show you my trim so you know I feel your pain.

Yeah it hurt man, seeing all that hard work laying in shambles at my feet like that. And as for the pipe cleaners I already had the green one's ( but will def buy the white nxt time).:tiphat:

Surely that amount of trimming will stop them from growing for a week? Seems excessive to me, I don't know so someone please tell me im wrong!

I like autumn too :)

Thanks for stopping by guys

Gonna need a couple more buckets, if you plan on trimming those.
And the ones on the left could use some molasses or a ph adjustment, lol. <kidding>

But I've got a question about your grow room...
Are they getting light from both sides? If so, why the need for the trellis in the first place? Wouldn't a couple bamboo stakes and a few twist ties be all you need? Just wonderin'.

Anyway, Mad...after the trim they'll stress a bit and have slow growth and droopiness for a week or so.

Depends on the quality of the plants genes, as to how much stress they can take. Some stress easy, some not so easy. If you were to attempt this, I wouldn't do that much to another plant, till you see the test subject's ultimate fate. And I wouldn't recommend a newbie trying it till they've got a couple of successful harvests under their belt.

Autumn sucks. It means winter's coming...

 You guys shoulda been comedians i almost freaked out there for a sec on that ph thing.

Rusty :wave:winter definately sucks here too, but the falls nice. As to ur ? about the lights.the room is roughly six foot square with a bare bulb 1000 and a 600 hung stadium style in the middle with plants along the walls and reflectix on everything but the floor.

Sub that trim job will reward you greatly, I know it's hard hacking your plants up but it is worth it in the long run lol you really went Charles Manson on them but they will come back kicking, trust me.

Thanks for sharing your pics.

it dont slow them down at all, in two weeks he will have to trim them some more, it literly creates monsters

You sure you want to inform newbies to do this without knowing how to recognize any issues that may arise? You sure all strains and pheno's would recover without incident under the inexperienced yet watchful eye of a newbie...? You sure the newbie would know when to stop trimming-up...?
Tiz a bit different culture in here. Might take some getting used to, lol.

Hey Rusty i said im a newb to indoor growing not growing all together, but I understand where ur coming from. Please dont think that I allowed myself to b talked into anything I wasnt ready to do. I have been growing outdoor's for close to ten yrs now and have seen the effects of pruning and topping plants as well as doing those things to early, or to late. This aint my first rodeo old boy, and im not recomending anyone do as i do, only to give me a lil help whn I need it or offer up any and all comments.

As always thanks for stopping in Rusty, I'll try to keep u up to date with pics so u can c if I went to far like u seem to think. (By the way did i say the girls r looking great? more pics this eve).

It's ok, he's in good hands and the folks on the vert forum will help out the whole road, we will take him under our wing from start to finish. It's best for people to get hands on experience in this rather than just reading all day long, them plants will be monsters very soon.

Glad you're not a green newbie (without ANY experience) but I'd still go slow till you get the hang of it. It's always best to undertrim, than overtrim.

Assuming a newbie has the knowledge to pull it off, and assuming there is absolutely no other stress factors, and assuming the newbie will refrain from defoliating the ladies, I guess it's great you're taking him under your wing, lol.

Been around a while, and have seen the disasters that can and do ocuur. Tiz why I think it's best to use caution when giving advise. Just a personal rule, but it has served me well as a troubleshooter. And I'm all for experimenting and hands-on learning, however newbies tend to go "all-in", if you know what I mean. (then they tend to panic and compound matters)

I'm not at all trying to condemn your processes, I'm not trying to tell y'all how to help. (although it admittedly sounds like that) I am trying to explain where I come from and hope that this insight helps others stay out of trouble. Being a troubleshooter from the medical cannabis forums, a dead plant means no meds. To a cancer/AIDS/MS patient, this is not only a pain in the ass, but physically painful and an unnecessary psychological stress. Tiz why I always try and have newbies approach advanced gardening with a bit of caution.

looks like you did perect on the trim to me, like i said in two weeks there going to be bushyer than they were and will need more trimming to let light in, do just as you did this time.

Rusty i would never tell him to do anything that i havent done already, you could tell from his pic's that his plants were healthy, I have argued with many about trimming leaves for years, have tried it both ways and for indoor especialy scrogg growing you have to get light to those lower bud sites,

REMODEL

REMODEL

well guys I had about 8 clones that have been veggin for about a month and are about 12" to 16" in height. I had been trying to come up with a way to increase plant space.. so I went up ofcourse. I added a row of closet shelf around the middle of the walls, and rearranged my bulbs in a stack with the 600 over the 1000.

:jump:man it looks good in there too with the reflectix on the walls and ceiling its definately bright enough for shades. so now the only thing im wondering about is why people r still growing in flat gardens whn its so much more economical to grow vert. I guess it takes tearing down those reflectors and giving it a shot.

So once again thank you vert forum for opening my eyes. I'll get some pics of the new setup tomorrow after the lights come on. I worked non stop for about 3 hrs trying to get everything rearranged today so that the girls already flowering didnt miss to much of their lights on plus i watered everything today too. now its time for me to kick back and :smoke: and check out some more vert posts for my next inspiration. Peace out people
