T5's work best with a screen, training and fewer plants IMHO...
Allows you to keep the light close...
Less Plants but More Buds...

i have also read that the light intensity is higher towards the middle of the bulb, n less towards the ends...

That's three ounces you did not have before..."-)

Bring on the Photos...

Traditional is to run 6400K during Veg and 3000K during Bloom but I like the 50/50 mix myself all the way from Veg to Bloom...

I did all three Temps this last grow and all did well so the choice is yours...

Well, if you vouch for the 50/50 mix that's good enough for me! Here are my three current ladies from left to right, Jillybean, Agent Orange, and Orange Spice.

These girls were very close to dead when I got them, but luckily they had been sitting in veg for a very long time so they had really big root systems. I've been vegging them for 3 weeks now, and they've really recovered. The Orange Spice is obviously the runt and lagging behind the other two, hopefully won't make my canopy management a nightmare.

And here's my one measley nug porn from my last run.

She was called Dynasty and smelled like baby poop, and got pulled 2 weeks too early. She would've been a real nice yielder if I could've gone the full 9 weeks. Oh well, still pleased for my very first grow.

I have not noticed that.... of course my tubes are almost 'virginal'. Only one run on them.

As a matter of fact if I had to describe the 'grow' pattern, I'd almost say the reverse was true.

We'll see if this link works.

This pic is of a 2' x 4' patch,,,, measured. The 2 plants are growing up through a piece of fence wire.... and the pattern is 'full'. lol

I ran and F2ed the TGA Jillybean, very nice bushy indica with lots of smaller rock hard nugs. I have the agent Orange as well but have not popped them yet, will be watching...:ying:

1st Grow complete,T5s are awesome!

1st Grow complete,T5s are awesome!

Well I had to harvest about 10days early for the OGs and a week or so early on the Godsgift. I started to find microscopic webs deep inside the flowers and I am pretty sure that I had spidermites moving in. My lesson learned= Be proactive about pest control!!
I thought my super clean area and hermeticaly sealed room were shield against pests,WRONG!! Im finding all the pests I have around my property were in my growroom. That being said, I stayed just ahead of the pests and managed to pull a decent harvest for my first time, I think. I will have just over 4oz once dried.
Im going to move, rebuild my growarea, add in another 4x8T5, build some bubble buckets a scrog screen and learn some more while having fun growing my medicine.
Thanks for all the great tips ZZ and others.

Awesome stuff in here as always.

I want to see dense sog under 8 lamp T5s. Something like 32 plants flipped immediately (4 plants per Sq Ft).

..then make it a double decker.

Ah.. if only plant counts weren't so risky.

And I wanted to be the guy that did it. Due to lumen output from the lights I think a better bang for the buck would be 12 plants per sqft though.

One of the benefits of using T5 is the low heat. I think if I was running the 2 600w HPS in the first few weeks of flowering I would have gotten a lot of stretching I keep the plants inches away only time they burn if they touch. Stretching is cause by wide temperature swing from lights on to lights off. After the 4th week or so I will bring on the HPS.

Looks superb.

When I flowered under a 8 lamp T5 I got around 9oz from around 8 plants.. flood and drain hydroton. Not a bad yield considering that'd have net me a little over a pound out of 2 lights (864w), but I'm sure there was much room for improvement.

I see you're using all bloom.
I used a equal mix of 6500k and 3000k lamps. Has anyone confirmed that ALL bloom is a better route to flower with? Any comparison grows done?

Final Results:T5s are awesome!

Final Results:T5s are awesome!

Well I found a few spider mites on two of my plants and I being unsure, just harvest the whole thing before my flowers were ruined.
So harvested betweeen 7-12 days early.
That being said, I am totally happy with the results.
Thanks so much for all the tips and the interest.
I used FFOF soil,Dyna-Gro nutes,EJ Catalyst, EJHi-Brix, and SoluableMychorriza in 3 gallon pots under 432w of T5s with mixed spectrum blue/red bulbs vegged for 28days under 24/0 and flowered for 58days starting at 12/12 cascading down to 10/14.Room temps were 65-75*F with RH @55%-65%
Thanks so much for your tips and interest.
My next grow will be DWC scrog under 864w of T5s........................

Well I got a little over 30oz off of 7 plants on my last grow and I screwed up the grow. So I can't take any chances I need a bumper crop so out comes the free floating vertical dimmable 600w cool tubes if I get less than 2 pound then I screwed up.
1.5oz per jar.
picture.php

Let's face it their getting too big for T5. 24 vdc fans 150 cfm. 1st time running them vertical, before it was all horizontal. Maybe double yield?
picture.php

Well at least we know you can grow pretty big with T5, sorry for the switch over.
picture.php

I got them set at 75%...I should go to 100% maybe later....

After a week of daily adjusting pH and ppms in my rez it occurred to me to convert to D2W. Easy to do, just reroute the drain tube to an empty container during flower, and especially during heavy flower the plants dump high pH waste. Better to not have it recirculate, even if pH adjusted

And since I am feeding only 3xs during lights on, with each feed/spray < 12 ozs, it's easy to replenish from premixed nutes

I'm excited to see what the next week brings
