Verdant Green confirmed the real output on the HGL 126X PENETRATOR PRO @ 187 watts, charts updated...

this is an HGL 126X2-PRO lamp, 187 watts. the X2 just refers to the X lens technology so the power consumption would be the same for the 126X-PRO and also probably the 126 penetrator pro too

just unboxed my pro grow 180 . only plugged it in for a min to test it out, but it seems pretty bright. feels solidly built. blue switch and red switch. fans are louder than I expected. going to set it up in the next couple days

is there a reason nobody else seems to have one of these lights? not much I can find online on them. seemed like a good choice to me? :dunno: will find out I guess

NOT output. Input power. Big diff.

This is so very true!

What happens when a manufacturer uses less efficient LED and driver components? Two things chiefly in its favor:

1) parts are cheaper to purchase
2) watts used increases but light output decreases

That is why using input wattage alone as a metric fails to disclose
true output in usable light and thereby can incorrectly place lamp ranking accordingly.

nevertheless, power used 'from the wall' is easy for everyone to measure at home and provides a useful comparison with other units and other forms of lighting. measuring output would require expensive equipment and even then it doesnt necessarily tell us how well the plants will grow as there are the different spectrums etc to consider.

if i know how much power my lamp uses and i know how much i yield under that lamp then i can work out grams per watt and compare that with other units and other types of lighting such as HID

Hi Verdant,

I would say that what you say is safely true as long as we stick to the list of vendors in the list that we (ICMag ) actually have had access to and grown with, or that the lamps came from suppliers or vendors that have already been grown with.

If we vary from this list for cheaper lights through eBay or other such markets with unknown lamps all bets are off until the lights arrive and they can be used.

There are still a lot of people "out there" looking to to make easy money and vanish, and the internet makes that stupid easy. LED lighting is still an area which, while fairly common on ICmag, is still fairly new to the average guy out there, which makes it attractive for such scams or marginal products.

Caveat emptor outside the ICMag list!

Not trying to make any digs to any particular brand already tried and documented here on ICmag.

:)

ok, here's some updates...

Added:
1. CAP XtremeLEDs

2. California Lightworks SolarFlare (only listed as 1 model, but they come in Bloombuster, Full Cycle and VegMaster, all the same price)

3. Welthink models WEX-C150-FS, WEX-C150-W and WEX-C150-W-FS

And marked with a STRIKETHRU now are the older model HGL lights. I could not find them on the website so I am assuming the newer technology is all they offer now. If someone has other info on this please speak up...

I am buying two of these. Seems I should easily be able to get 2lbs from over 1600w?

http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-7-Band-864w-LED-Grow-Light.asp

You had better keep researching. There is no way in hell that they have decent quality chips for that price, and I would be willing to bet that they don't output 864 watts, as you are thinking. They are advertising on the nominal rating of the 3 watt chips, not what they are actually being driven at. The absence of a set of detailed specifications is a big red flag for me. If you do get them, please plug them into a Kill-a-watt and let us know what the actual power is. Good luck!

i agree with rives...

they probably output no more than 600 watts...

but please do pick up a kill-a-watt and let us know the real output. i will add these to the chart also... ;)

heres a couple pics of my pg180 all lit up. the 3 leds that appear to not be working are IR.

I've only had plants under it for a week or so, but they seem to like it so far

Cool DD! Are the last 3 pics,( blue, red, purple,) taken w/ the different selector settings?
Bummer about 3 not working. What's the co. say?

Hey GP73LPC, how about getting Kessil up there? I've got the 350 Magenta, like to have a cringe how it stacks up. :)

So out of all of these, what would one get to replace a 1000w in a 4'x4' area?

i can't endorse anything i haven't used, but a lot people love the lumigrow products. the evo products that Mr X uses and i personally have a couple of welthink arrays...

check out the links in my sig entitled:

and

those may help you with your decision...
