I think a Bruce Lee in his prime would dominate in the UFC. Granted he packed on about 30 pounds of pure muscle mass.

If he were his 156-177lbs he would still excell.

But a 200 LB Bruce Lee could dominate untill he chose to retire.

But then again, who knows?

Could babe ruth make it out of the minor leauges had he been drafted today?

ok first lets define a win,one that would meet everyones standard.
1.can we agree this wouldnt be left to the judges?
2.im not too clear on what is banned in the ufc as far as fighting styles so if theres a ban list lets post one.
3.theroy and practice are 2 different things so lets judge on what they actually do for training and fighting styles and what skill level the practitioner can apply it at.
4.consider the framework of the question this is bruce going into a sport.this will not answer the question of a actual combat situation.and this wont answer the question of mma's style vs all traditional styles.

A 200 lb. Bruce Lee would look like a tree-stump and he would give up a ton of speed and agility. He'd be fighting the likes of Shogun & Jon "Bones" Jones. He'd be squashed like a grape. If he went down in weight, he'd be facing The Spider. Nuff said. In fighting, more muscle is detrimental.

Seriously, this is so easy to see...

Bruce Lee is like a god, and is highly respected by me and most everyone on here.

Still...

He would get his ass kicked so hard by most ANYONE in the UFC...

These guys train just as hard if not harder than Bruce trained, their whole life revolves around fighting.

I remember when UFC first started... all the "karate" type guys would get their ass kicked SOOOO fast it was embarrassing.

Sure they were fast and good fighters, but then they just got choked out.

oh yeah lets be specific (bruce lee vs. XXX) this is so we can consider weight classes cause in actuality he would stay in one maybe two classes,but if you guys want we can say that its like the old ufc where kent shamrock fights sumo wrestlers and negate the weight class issue all together.

Ah! Well then, I stick with my first statement. One fighting style< Many fighting styles combined. He would be taken to the ground and molested. He'd have Jose Aldo to contend with at featherweight and Frankie Edgar at lightweight.

As per the Unified Rules Of MMA. More info here.

Ways to victory
Knockout (KO): as soon as a fighter becomes unconscious due to strikes, his opponent is declared the winner. As MMA rules allow ground fighting, the fight is stopped to prevent further injury to an unconscious fighter.
Technical Knockout (TKO)
Referee Stoppage: the referee may stop a match in progress if:
a fighter becomes dominant to the point where the opponent is unable to intelligently defend himself from attacks, which may occur as quickly as a few seconds;
a fighter appears to have developed: the referee will call for a time out if a fighter's ability to continue is in question as a result of apparent injuries, such as a large cut. The ring doctor will inspect the fighter and stop the match if the fighter is deemed unable to continue safely, rendering the opponent the winner. However, if the match is stopped as a result of an injury from illegal actions by the opponent, either a disqualification or no contest will be issued instead.
Corner stoppage: a fighter's corner men may announce defeat on the fighter's behalf by throwing in the towel during the match in progress or between rounds.
Retirement: if a fighter feels unable to continue after the conclusion of a round, s/he may inform or have the corner inform the referee that s/he forfeits the match to his opponent.
Submission: a fighter may admit defeat during a match by:
a tap on the opponent's body;
a tap on the mat or floor;
verbal announcement.
Technical Submission: a referee may intervene and call a stop to the contest when:
a fighter appears to be unconscious from a grappling hold;
a fighter appears to have suffered a serious injury from a grappling hold.
Decision: if the match goes the distance, then the outcome of the bout is determined by three judges. The judging criteria are organization-specific.
Unanimous Decision: if all three judges on the panel score a bout unanimously in favor of one fighter
Split Decision: if two judges on the panel score a bout in favor of one fighter, with one judge scoring the bout in favor of the other
Majority Decision: if two judges on the panel score a bout in favor of one fighter, with one judge scoring the bout a draw
Draw: if all three judges on the panel score a bout unanimously in favor of neither fighter.
Split Draw: if one judge on the panel score a bout in favor of one fighter, the second in favor of his opponent, and the third in favor of neither fighter
Majority Draw: if two judges score the bout a draw, with one judge scoring the bout in favor of one fighter
Technical Decision: if a fighter behind or even on points commits an intentional foul during the course of the match, and the opponent is unable to continue due to the injury or injuries inflicted by the foul at any subsequent point in the fight, the match is stopped and awarded to injured fighter
Technical Draw: if a fighter ahead on points commits an intentional foul during the course of the match, and the opponent is unable to continue due to the injury or injuries inflicted by the foul at any subsequent point in the fight, the match is stopped and awarded to injured fighter
Forfeit: a fighter or his representative may forfeit a match prior to the beginning of the match, thereby losing the match.
Disqualification: a "warning" will be given when a fighter commits a foul or illegal action or does not follow the referee's instruction. Three warnings will result in a disqualification. Moreover, if a fighter is injured and unable to continue due to a deliberate illegal technique from his opponent, the opponent will be disqualified.
No Contest: in the event that both fighters commit a violation of the rules, or a fighter is unable to continue due to an injury from an accidental illegal technique, the match will be declared a "No Contest".

Bruce Lee would be knocked out without ever being touched as soon as Chuck Norris entered the ring.

these guys are pretty damn tough, using their bulk and strength to overwhelm their opponent.

i just wonder if bruce lee could take these kinds of fighters down?

Isn't this a sherdog.com forum's topic?

Anyways, they don't use bulk and strength to overwhelm opponents. That is why there are weight classes. When they fight they are fighting at the same weight. They use technique. Anyways, Bruce Lee theoretically would of done really well! Not only did he have extremely fast striking he also practiced Jui Jitsu and Judo. He would of probably of been the greatest bantam weight ever. Although asians don't seem to do well in mixed martial arts. I don't think there has ever been a #1 fighter that was Asian in any weight class.

Despite Steven Seagal being extremely lame, the guy is very knowledgeable and very quick even in his old age. He has been training Anderson Silva by request of Silva. I saw a video of him training Silva and it was very obvious who the teacher was and who the student was.

I believe that Bruce Lee would have some choice words about what the UFC has become. For those of us who were there when Bruce was becoming a phenomenon, know what he was about. He lived and breathed martial arts and studied all forms including wrestling and boxing. He was also one of the first to mix all the best parts of each art into one... his own. For those of us that were there when the UFC started, know that what it is now, is no where near what it was all about to begin with; the pitting of two different styles against each other with no weight classifications, and with as little rules or interruption as possible.

I don't think Bruce would consider the rules of most professional fights of today to be worth competing in.
