Why is medical marijuana so expensive?

Adding this: "A" would stop most of that chemical brown brick shit-weed from coming into this country, and the violence that accompanies it. Only USA GROWN sold in this country, or legally imported from elsewhere. If taxed, we know OUR OWN PEOPLE are getting the benefits of any tax levied-especially growers who take the time and care to produce far superior smoke. (Paraquat ring a bell, anyone?) No way I want to see Mexican shit weed on the shelves...I bet I'm not alone in that thought?

That's why it's so hard to give an answer! Yes, we all buy those items, but all are regulated and taxed. If "A" is impossible, I can still see the best smoke on the planet being imported if can't be grown here- but unfortunately that gets the gov't even more involved. I'm trying to say that I think those who grow within our borders should have the full benefit of their efforts should there be legalization and tax. I hope that makes sense?

taxing banans, coffee, sugar, rice, hemp, or weed is easy. We import and pay tax all the time. We brew beer domestically and pay tax all the time. Our farmers grow corn and export it (don't pay tax but get subsidised because they are special) all the time.

"A" is really easy. If I can buy French wine I want to buy great weed from Thailand. Nothing special just another commodity.

I'm not so sure those days are gone. Just last week I found myself in possession of some brick weed that I'm certain is from Oaxaca. Actually has me recalling the old days. Nice, uplifting equatorial sativa. Cost $150/oz and I'm sure I got charged a higher price since I'm new to the area and just met these people through a friend of a friend of a friend.

So I take it you recall when we complained about being gouged for $35/ounce back then? Funny how cheap it seems at $150. Then again, I've been morning my lost seed jar, tossed away as if it were trash. I'd have paid a heckuva lot more than 150 to get my hands on these seeds, and heck, I got a bunch of consumable cannabis on top of the seeds. Land race sativa, I am grinning from ear to ear.

Instead of arguing this in another thread, I was wondering what people think about the price of medical buds for sick people.

From what I understand, buds are sold from between 20 and 30 bucks a gram or 60 bucks or so an eighth. That figures out on the low side to 600 an ounce by the gram or 500 an ounce by eighths. On the high side it could range from 800 to 700 per ounce. That figures out to be around 10,000 dollars per pound. It's my understanding that club owners want to pay 2400 to 3000 per pound. If that's true there's an awful margin between retail and wholesale.

How could someone unable to work, or dying, afford to smoke on a daily basis? A better question seems to be how could a sick or dying person afford to smoke at all?

If these "compassion clubs" actually were concerned in people getting their buds for pain, how can they charge these prices. It saddens me to think of someone not being able to afford it because of the price. I just don't see a whole lot of compassion.....

Terminal patients will always get their medicine. It just usually isnt advertised as heavily because then every dick jane and joe with a headache would be demanding free weed and calling the practice unfair that some have not to pay for their medicine while others do...

My response is always the same, would you like to trade places? I gurantee you any end life terminal patient would trade you in a heartbeart...

...and to those slamming dispensaries, half of my strains are at or BELOW steet value and I have a much larger overhead than someone slanging weed out of their garage...

I have had friends that have been going to nor cal for years, bringing back 10 packs of TOP SHELF stuff for 30,000. I dont see outdoor fetching 1.5 times MORE than that THIRTY years ago.

These arent hard to come by prices in that area. Especially with the competition, I'm calling bs.

So you are saying you have no firsthand knowledge of what prices really were thirty years ago. In fact you may not even be thirty.

It is not opposition to my position, it is someone making the claim I seek to imprison people for growing pot.
This false accusation is wrong on many levels but, especially wrong when the moderator allows harassment and verbal abuse to continue unchecked.

I never once said anyone should be imprisoned for growing pot yet, hydrosun keeps repeating this false claim as if it were fact.

He sets up strawman arguments such as "when was the LAST TIME you beat your wife?"
The plaintiff never beat his wife yet the appearance by inference is that he did.
