if only the electric company billed you in amps instead of watts

only thing switching to 220 will do is free you up some amperage from your electric panel. it will not save you any money

daps on the grow freedom its a beast

True that.

The fact 220v vs 110v will save you money is a huge myth and only shows the electrical ignorance of the general population.

Oh, and nice show FIP. I hope you get some retirement money out of this. Good luck. Stay safe.

You'll save a little from less amps because not so much will be lost in the lines. But I don't think we're talking big numbers here.

a little update...

a little update...

I want to thank everyone for stopping by once again, and especially thanks to those who took the time to read the whole thread.

I'm just waiting for them to finish up now. Two weeks to go. I barely have to water them at this point. 30 gallons is lasting them easily 48 hours.

Here's some pics:

Here's a little bit of what's up next. Cuts from several different females from rez's william's wonder and a cutting from a bean I found in a batch of my Calio from several runs ago that ended up female:

Nice setup bro! Gotta love them huge setups! If those ballast can take 220v and all u need is the new plug, witch from your pictures im pretty sures is either 120 or 220 and all u need is a new $10 plug for each ballast. plus eletric stuff rehooked up.. it will cut the cost of energy almost 1/2. Will draw almost 1/2 the amps.

Wow, I run mine on 240 now, if I go to 480 will I save even more??? :D

I know people are trying to help but when you just flat out give wrong info, especially on anything electrical, that just sucks.

Philly, that is the worst grow I have ever seen. You need to let someone else come take it over..... Dont worry, I'll come take it over for ya. LOL :D

Nah, I am kidding, looks real good. Hope all is OK with your partner and all. Looks like a nice harvest is coming real soon. Glad to see you got another batch in the works. I feel like the only big grower here who keeps on going or at least posts about it.

Thats cool. At least you came back and admitted it. FYI electric use is measured in watts Watts=Volts x Amps. Doesnt mater how you get there, 120,240, or 480, you still use the same amount of watts

Awesome project, Freedom, I thoroughly enjoyed reading those 12 pages. Party time coming soon...

How is the humidity? I was concerned when you said you were exhausting out your attic. If true, there is the good chance that condensation will get crazy up there when the hot moist air hits the cool air of your attic. When you duct through the attic for a stove hood or bathroom fan, you have to use insulated duct to prevent the duct from getting cold and causing condensation on the inside walls of the duct. I hope you are not sogging out your attic insulation with condensation.

The only advantage to running higher voltages and lower amperages is cost savings in material, as in you can use thinner wiring for lower amperages. The reason long distance transmission lines run at high voltage is to get the current down to minimal levels. Imagine the diameter of the wiring if it was the other way around. As someone else mentioned, there is less loss also, as there is less heat and vibration in the higher voltage/thinner wiring scenario....less resistance.

update a bit overdue...

update a bit overdue...

Dear Diary,
It's been a little while since my last entry. I know that I have a shit ton of REALLY tedious work coming up (trimming AND transplanting all in one week), so I've been fucking off and not really been doing much. Well, that's not entirely true; I got fed up with Vista and installed and have been configuring Ubuntu for the past 5 days, been playing a shitload of Tiger Woods '09 on Wii, oh, and smoking TONS of this great hash oil I've been extracting with denatured alcohol (the best oil/hash/extract I've EVER experienced). So I wanted to apologize to anyone who has been wondering where I've been.

Well, just a few days until chop. I'm pretty excited. The house fucking REEKS, even with two of the big boy can-fan filters running. Everything is cool on the outside of the house, just as soon as you walk in the front door, BAM! you can definitely smell it. It's ok though, as my partner and I are the only ones with access to the house. From what I've read about the Willie's Wonder (which I'm running next), it can get pretty stinky. So I'll be picking up another big boy filter, very possibly two, for the next round.

My irrigation system is going to be re-vamped as well as the ventilation scheme for the hoods. This room will be TIGHT next run, I assure you.

The partner wants to run 4 lights in his own basement and duct the heat from the lights into his house for heat this winter. That's a great thing. Now I have a place to grow for R&D type purposes, mainly working with those Pakistanis. I also have 2 Sour Bubble/Sour BubblexBasic Kush plants that look beautiful in veg that I'm gonna run soon too. Gonna be taking a bunch of clones today actually.

HeadyPete-Thanks for stopping by and I appreeciate the compliments. As far as humidity in the room/house and condensation in the attic, I'm not having any issues. The exhaust from the grow room is going into a bedroom above it. I installed an attic-type exhaust fan right into the ceiling-entrance to the attic. When the entire HOUSE would get too warm (73 degrees) the exhaust would pull warm air up there. But it hasn't even been getting above 68 in the house lately, so that fan hasn't kicked on. But I DID have a condensation issue elsewhere, read on for more details.

To all the regulars who stop by and the newcomers, thank you very much for all your kind words. I really really do appreciate it.

So the other day earlier this week, it had been near freezing outside for the first time this season both during the day and night. I was taking care of my plants and I noticed water dripping from above. I look up, and this is what I found:

The fans for my lights were running 24 hours a day and pulling air directly from the outside. So for 12 hours, the metal and glass of the hoods got freezing cold. Then the lights kick on and warm it all up. To rectify this, I put the fans for the hoods on the same thermostat for the room exhaust. All is good now. But look at what happened when I first turned the hood exhaust off, haha, pretty neat:

Don't worry, it's not smoke, just steam from the condensation evaporating.

Ok, here are some picture of the bitches:

Is that isolation on the airductings between the hoods?

how do that work, im asking coz I got a room full of aircooled lights with the same condensation problem. Mine just collects on the duckting and drip down on some of my flowering plants, they are like ½ size of the rest of the grow and it's only a question about time befor they will get bud rot from that.

Been thinking about adding insulation to the duckting for some time now, then I saw your pictures and just have to ask ;)
