I smoked for about 5 years until last sunday, quit cold turkey and havent looked back...i never want to have one again, i just fight the cravings with strong will power.
I did it out of boredom at work...they would let me take as many cig breaks as i wanted, and i took full advantage.
Will power, something I need more of. My dad is an ex-smoker and says will power is key. I too have taken advantage of smoking at the work place.
My pops had a heart attack (no arrest) and quit cold turkey. He smoked a pack of Pall Mall no filter for 60 years. Although he has symptoms of advanced cardiovascular disease, his dock says pops emphysema isn't as bad because his lungs are free of filter particulate that makes lungs bleed when coughing.
Filters are arguably as unhealthy as chemically processed cigs IMO.
