Seen a couple of people having issues with gunk in the res and SM-90 lately.
When I run across them I will post links.
I believe it was Bobblehead and Mister D.

Just noticed that slime for the first time this run. Res temps have been a little higher than I like, but SM-90 and Silica are supposed to buffer for higher temps iirc. It has to be the oil in the SM-90 mixed with Drip Clean imo. I forgot to add the Drip Clean last couple of mixes (partly due to the nutes I am using are supposed to be high grade and not needing Drip Clean). I have been adding SM-90 religiously, but Drip Clean not so much. Maybe that is the connection?Yea i just mixed up a new batch for the veg room this morning...using only GH and sm-90.
Just checked and I have a cloudy frothy res???? It looks like somebody hocked a bunch of loogies in there. whats going on with that?

Well......guess I missed that with my old timer`s disease Mr D.......so....Just to be clear, since everyone seems to be ignoring the fact that I have ONLY used GH micro, bloom, and some sulfuric acid as ph down. NO drip clean, sm-90, etc, and I still have the slime build up. Also have a gro bro running 300 blumats using nothing but micro, bloom, sulfuric acid, and sm-90. He is having ZERO problems with this combination. Got some jar testing in progress to see what that can tell me. I'll report back when I return from the grow.

it's still possible to get a Bacterial Slime in a hydro res, plumbing and containers and troughs.... especially in recirculating hydro, that hydro environment is not only a great place to live for roots....
It's called Cyanobacteria... there's a lot of threads here in which is has been found to be a bacteria that also plagues Aquariums and Aquafarms, it needs light to survive apparently and it's a bitch to get rid of. I quit Aero because of it actually...
Yea i hope we can figure this out. I would hate to have to replumb my whole system beacuse some gunk in the pipes. The sprayers are working fine. It takes alot to clog these sprayers. (I dont have a filter between the pump and the sprayers) The only filters in my system is the chiller pump in the res circulating 24/7 @ 1267 gph. Its powerful like a garden hose on high 3-4 inches above the water line constantly mixing and aerating the res.
So far so good with GH and sm-90 + ph down for (2 days). I pulled the chiller pump out and inspected, no gunk yet. I just now added drip clean at .4.
Also.. after mixing up the veg res yesterday (after finding the loogies) the res looks good today (no funk)
