I think that I'm going to make shields for all the LED strips after this plant is done.

The strips without sheilds are burning some leaves and it's just luck that I don't have a flower growing into a bare strip.
It's really hard to see through to the back wall to check it.

The flowers can rub right up against the shields with no issues.

She's getting really tight in there now.
It's been a long time since I had a plant that's almost too big.

Making the shields is a real PITA.
I can't cut them with any kind of saw or shears, they just shatter.
I have to use a grinder with a cutoff wheel and kind of melt my way through the plastic.

Shields are a good idea for sure. Maybe you lose some light but you gain safety.

Yeah I'm sure that I'll lose some light but that doesn't concern me.
I've got a butt load of lights in there to make up for the loss. lol 😄

It's not really a safety issue. The lights aren't that hot. There's no smoke or smell, it just kills any leaf or bud that touches it.

I remember worrying about the safety of the SILs I was using.
They were too hot to touch.

I put a SIL in a coffee can and filled it with powder dry dead leaves.

I left it in there for 4-5 hours and there was no smoke or smoldering or anything.
The only thing was that it gave off a hay smell that wasn't very pleasant.

I also found the picture of the burned out LED strips that someone posted,..

I found a picture of my cat getting her first bath too.
She was full of fleas when I got her,..

And a picture of me windsurfing down the railroad tracks. Lol

Why not raise the top strips a bit if you cant lower the planter?

Peace :tiphat:

I was going to do that.
I've got my ceiling lights mounted to a piece of wood running across the top of the closet.

IMG_20220529_145908.jpg

There's just a single screw holding it to the door frame.

IMG_20220529_150640.jpg

And the screw on the other end is just screwed into the wall.

IMG_20220529_145908.jpg

All I need to do is put a block of wood in between the piece of wood and the door frame and raise the screw on the wall higher.

Then I checked the inside of the closet where the piece of wood is coming through,..

IMG_20220529_150256.jpg

I've got the wires for the left wall and door over top of that piece of wood, and there is almost no slack available to raise the wood support.
SHIT !!

I would have to disassemble everything to fix it and I really don't want to do that with a full grown plant in there.
Too risky.

So I will just wait and see what happens.

I will be covering all the bare lights after this plant 🪴 is done but I don't want to risk dropping a drill or myself onto this plant. Lol 😄

The problem with railroad track windsurfing is that you can't zigzag your way against the wind.

Actually it worked pretty good.
I could go at least 45° up wind.
It was pretty slow going upwind, but I would go like hell downwind.

I was out one day just screaming down the tracks and some guy was driving his truck down the gravel road beside the tracks recording me.

I caught up with him and asked how fast I was going, he said "at least 60 km per hour"

Then a week or later someone called the cops and they said that I was trespassing on CSX property.

It wasn't quite true.
CSX sold the rails to the municipality and there hadn't been a train on the tracks for years.

I didn't want to bother with a court battle, so that was the end of my Rail Sailing.

That was actually probably a blessing in disguise,..

If I would have fallen off my sailing ⛵ machine at 60 km/hr, I would have been in a world of hurt, especially if I fell in front of my flying machine and got run over by it. Lol 😄

The problem with railroad track windsurfing is that you can't zigzag your way against the wind.

The problem with sailing ⛵ upwind on the water is that you get pushed sideways/downwind.

The railroad tracks are fixed and if your wheels are locked in and there isn't too much friction, you can go like snot. lol

The problem with wiping out on the railroad tracks, is that you land on the railroad tracks.

Water is A LOT softer. lol 😄

Seems like the sport has a history going back to the 1800s.

Back then it was a gentlemanly affair..

Yes, I did a bunch of research when I was doing that.

It's nothing new.
And I found a bunch of people that did it more recently.
A bunch of kids with something they made, and a guy that sailed around a good part of the US on something he made.
But he they always trespassing and potentially in trouble.

I actually joined a forum, "The Wooden Boat" or something and posted my pictures.
The guys wrote back, kind of impressed, but most wrote to warn me about getting squished by a train.
(One guy was a train conductor and actually killed a couple of people walking through a train tunnel.)

The tracks I was on was free of trains, so the only danger was the danger that I made for myself. Lol 😄

The biggest difference between what they did and what I did was that they were going about 5 mph.
If it got windy they had to shut down.

I waited for the wind to go rail sailing ⛵. Lol

PS,..
You don't need 2 ton 2 foot across cast iron wheels.

I used skateboard wheels, and they worked just fine.

They're WAY faster too.
And you're closer to the ground if you fall off. Lol

Make sure that you use ABEC-3 bearings or better though. lol

This is the land yacht that set the land speed record of 202.9 km/hr.

The wind was only blowing at about 50 km/hr.

There is this thing too,..

Screenshot_20220530-094403_DuckDuckGo.jpg

It can sail directly into the wind at more than twice the speed of the wind.

The window plant is doing OK, but she's kinda spindly.
Her flowers are starting to fill in and I assume they will get much bigger?
She is two weeks younger than the closet plant.

I broke and taped up a couple more fan leaves.
I've been doing pretty good with the LITFA for closet plant, but the window plant has suffered some abuse. lol
