Original Recipe for "Skunk"

G

Green Love

Does anyone know the original recipe to making the strain of "Skunk", the stoney way?

I was thinking it might be, a bit of asian, and some south american. Possibility a european mix or an American thing.

Anybody have a clue, it taste sooo good, well. It's just kinda peppery, with a stone feeling. Non of that fuzz feeling. Really skunky, an a stoney feeling.

If you did a search on this site youd find
Skunk has come to be a generic term for any strong cannabis, when we say Skunk, we mean a plant descended from the original Skunk No. 1 bred by Sam in the 70s. Skunk No. 1 (AKA "The Pure"), is the origin of all the skunk varieties grown through the world today, this plant was created by Sam the Skunk Man, at Sacred Seeds, in the late 70s. Sam bred Afghani Indica, "Acapulco Gold", Mexican Sativa and Columbian Gold Sativa to create an exceptionally strong and flavourful cannabis plant. Skunk plants are typically early maturing, well stabilised, with high potency and yield.

I did search the site, I was looking for more of a stoney skunk, than a buzzy skunk. Perferably, an all stoney strain would be great, excluding the buzz effect.

Many different people refer to what Skunk is to them and there are so many different stories about how their Skunk tasted, smelled and looked.

It is said to be made up of: Columbian Gold x [Afghani x Acapulco Gold]

But from all of the many different discriptions of what Skunk was/is like to people, I wonder how many truly have smoked what Sam The Skunkman calls "his" Skunk? Or have many of us been smoking "generic" backyard brewed Skunk plants.

What made me post in this thread is I have been working with so many strains that I neglected my 1991 Skunk #1 and now only have it in 2 crosses. But when smoking other peoples so called Skunks they aren't anything like my 1991 Skunk #1.

Now I am in a search to get that 1991 Skunk #1 back, or breed my Mexican x 1991 Skunk #1 to something as close to my 1991 Skunk as possible.

People have been offering me Skunks that are way too Sativa, way too Fruity smelling, way too Thai tasting. My 1991 Skunk had more of a Afghani smell with a Fruity undertone. Had more of a Indica high, but didn't make you stupid (stuck).

The "Pure" isn't it. "Shit" isn't it. I think it is lost. And I think that if I breed my Mexican x 1991 Skunk #1 to "Shit" that it will be Afghan dominant. And I have enough pure Afghan strains in the vault.

I guess I just have to keep trying everyones Skunks until someone offers me up the Skunk that is closest to my 1991 Skunk #1. Let the stock piling of Skunk beans begin.

It has been over a decade since Sam The Skunkman has been in the seed business as a seller, but it sure would be nice to have him offer up a straight up Sam The Skunkman Skunk #1 that he has breed and has had only his hands on the developement.

With Sam working the with Skunk for over 30 Years and making it a "true" line, it so odd that everyone else that claims to have a Skunk has different Plants. If Wild Rose plants aren't like HTC's, HTC's aren't like Mr. Nice, Mr. Nice aren't like TFD's then what is the closest to the original? Whom still has any old stock that is directly from Sam himself?

any cash cropper should give you what you need.. go for shiva skunk or short stocky afghan indicas. select the heaviest yielder and shortest flowering and you'll get that boring and heavy buzz you're after. don't let it go too long, otherwise it might actually have an interesting buzz to it.

that's what the gangs, bikers and mafia are doing.

You will find it here somewhere on this site...It is ( (Columbian Gold x Mazar) x (Mazar x Columbian Gold) ) x Acapulco Gold

Who in this thread asked for any of the qualities of which you just posted? Who asked for a Heavy yielder? Who asked for a short flowering time? Who asked for a boring buzz?

Did I miss an entire post from someone or something? Hmmmm

Hiya ReservationLabs :)

"Whom still has any old stock that is directly from Sam himself?"

Shanti did have and I assume still does. He used seeds from Sam crica '88 in his recent NHS cross. Aparrently there were 200 or so seeds, but only 5 came to be plants, one was considered to show suitable dominance and kept (a male I think).

that needs further investigating, but I'm pretty sure thats all true :)

Burningfire,

Ok I got it here. Was lost for a minute.

glad you did , haha..

in my experience the heavy short flowering yielders usually have a very boring buzz.. once in a while it hits the spot but it's the cheapest and most available bud in canada. it sounds like what he's after.

Original Skunk #1 1987 The Seed Bank

Hi All ! :santa1: :Ordered SK #1 from the Seed Bank 1987 still have the
original seed and the S-1's they produced, a 35mm film canister full...
:xmasnut: they had a hermie tendency, so they were not grown much
after that....But, that was 20+ years ago, so maybe they might be worked again.....they were very big plants as I recall......Peace!

Yeah I was completely tripping and missed that post everytime I have read this thread. I was so lost by your post and then I re-read every post and was like wow what a blind idiot I am, lol.

Cash Cropper really love short flowering, high yielding plants that can be pulled earlier then being fully ripe and still have a great weight. There is a lot of that going on within Indoor grows in Northern California also.

I have been working a lot with Sativa's over this past year. Lots of patients is needed but it is so well worth it within the quality of high. The HAZE I have been growing and also a Mexican x Skunk #1 cross I have been growing are both so top notch within their level of high and smoke quality.

Road kill skunk is an afghan trait. Older skunk phenos had this trait as well.

Its a nasty rubber glue coffee skunk just pissed on your buds kind of smell during grow and even when finished.

Long cures smooth it out. Weird slightly interesting smells but not the most desirable.

The Rankness comes from high resin content. The high resin content also lends to highly lung expansive (painful) hits.

The stone is long lasting and tiring

It leaves a hangover feeling after a long smoke session.
