Vanilluna in excelsis...

Here's my Vanilluna keeper, chopped today at 71 days. It could still have gone another week - at least if it were topped to let the light through, but I just didn't have the space or time - no worries, as its a magnificent specimen - my best yet. Great yield, thanks to some bat guano, and mild CO2 supplementation.

As mentioned before in my harvest thread, the smell and taste are mild, but a delicious mix of creamy liquorice, coffee, vanilla, cough mixture and rich earth - not fruity at all, unlike the other phenos, but I much prefer this one, and it's much more unusual. The high is mellow and hashy, but not narcotic at all, and extremely potent - I love it, despite the long flowering-time.

And the resemblances to its mother, DJ Short's book-cover Blueberry Sativa plant (apart from the missing pure magenta leaves), are quite startling...:)

Those are just INCREDIBLE EM!!! your plants are always so beautiful. You're one of those people who whenever i see a picture of your plants i know that you grew them without even seeing your name. You do incrediible work in the garden. I read the goldfinger thread and man i cant tell you how much i would like to have that strain or the mo flo (that was the name if i recall correctly) in my garden. I've always wanted to try flo, i'd love to get the opportunity.

anyways, i'm sure dj would be proud. keep doing what you're doing, EM. you do it so well.

Thank you so much - that's really kind of you, and just what I need to keep me fired up on this! DJ is proud, as he told me so...:)

As for Goldfinger, I am aiming to get to the F2 stage real soon - my female is fine, and I just have to grow out a new male to get moving again. But the MoFlo line is much further ahead, and I'm planning to incross three very distinct f3 females with a new male in the next few weeks for testing. If they prove consistent at f4 (they should), and different enough from the original f1 Flo gen, then it may be feasible to try and get some of these out to a wider audience - we shall see...:chin:

haha DD, that's exactly what i was thinking. like almost word for word.

EM, i'm excited to hear about that. Both the goldfinger and mo flo have great appeal to me. I was just reading the thread again, i just love your plants. They have so much character, i'm so jealous! I cant wait to see the line worked to the point where you think it's perfect. I wish you the best of luck.

The Goldfinger should hopefully get moving again quite quickly. I've gone through several female phenos from both batches now, and I reckon I've seen most of the main types possible, barring a few freaks of course! Growing out a male will probably be trickier, as I have less idea what to look for. I think the plan would be to stick to Flo-dominant males, and Malawi-dominant females until the right balance is achieved.

Thanks folks - that beauty was only 15 inches high at the finish - if I'd vegged it for a couple of months first it would have been enormous. And to be fair, most of the other phenos I grew were very low-yielding - one was almost pitiful, and ironically was the best of the remainder, but just too low to be viable. Shame.

Still, I've got plenty to be going on with, and this pheno will definitely get some Flo pollen on it next time around, which should just about give me the entire DJ Short list in one form or another - which is nice...:)
