if a cat rolls over and offers a belly, you're the boss, period...
it trusts you.
absolutely false!
Dog appeasement behaviors evolved because dogs live in packs, hunt in packs, do everything in packs.
Cats do not hunt in groups, they only get together for social activity, and in much lower densities (naturally, not when kept together by food). They have not evolved the same appeasement behaviors, and anyone who thinks a cat on its back has submitted is asking for claws or teeth if they are not very close to the cat.
When a cat fight another cat, one of the two may very start on its back - not a sign of submission. It's a fighting posture.
ok, you are correct, my words were chosen incorrectly. let me rephrase my point...
if a cat allows you to pet it's belly without clawing or biting it trusts you.
i did not mean a cat was exhibiting dog appeasement behaviors. i was only going by my own experience with cats and the level of trust the cat must have before allow you to touch it on the belly or paws or any other places that really piss a cat off...
yes but someone other than you may get the same posture from the cat, but might also get attacked if they are too forward. If they just stick to touching the head, there is much less chance of biting/clawing.
He's pleading with you to stop ending sentences with yo, cats are so very smart that way. 1
U soaked it in peroxide?! Damn I don't know if you shoulda done all that it was jus a lil nip. To each his own though that'll teach that cat a lesson!
They love home grown cat nip. I know lots of cats don't like it, but they seem to really enjoy it. I recommend growing some if your cat likes it. Watch out though starting growing a single small plant about 5 years ago, now we get 10 bushes that are like 4 feet in diameter. Shit spreads like wildfire!
Yah`mon :friends:
my cats love cat nip...
i call it 'their kitty high'
high yummybud, bud!
