12/12 - Day 19

12/12 - Day 19

Good idea madback... :chin:

Couple bud shots... some trichs on a lower bud, and roots thriving directly beneath the dripper.

Looks like your plants are liking the Tropf Blumats. How much did the Tropf Blumats set you back? I'm thinking about using them myself on my next grow.

I think it was about $70 for the kit that includes 12 of the sensors, and everything else you need except the reservoir. I'm using a 5 gallon bucket, but I think for my next grow I'm going to use something larger, an 18 gallon rubbermaid possibly.

I am completely satisfied with my purchase, and think they're definitely worth the money.

Yo GrnMtnGrwr, I'm planning on that 60 day mark too. Didn't put any notes up from the grow, but glad we got icmag so I can estimate the dates ;).

You like the cones..One more satisfied costumer for Blumats then. That's great I'm going to get a set after the harvests. :)

Nice pic with roots!! ;)

Bud porn we love it!
you still have six girls in there?
So I take it that they have stopped stretching?
The cabinet is looking really full.

5 girls, set up in an X shape.

I'm pretty sure we're done with the stretch, it was about 2.5-3 weeks for the stretchier ones.

Lookin good! With plant counts i always though 6 plants under a light just doesnt work as well. I was going to run 5 in an X but since I can have a higher plant count now I will flower 4 each light for total of 8 flowering and 4 vegging up big and every month 4 come out 4 go in.

I still like to root more clones than i need so I can always choose the best health and size about mid point of veg.

I love the 400w... what i cut my teeth on after the first flouro run I did.

If it was personal use and not for patients I would probably still have a 400. You can grow all the meds you need with that kind of light.

Finally evened out the canopy a little bit, brought the middle plant up about 5"... still not perfect, but it will definitely improve yield.

All my previous grows/cabinets were with a 150w HPS, I'm extremely happy with my choice of the 400w for this cabinet. A long term goal of mine for this cabinet is a 1lb harvest... I'm definitely not expecting it this round, but if I find the right C99 pheno... maybe a DWC scrog will get me there, and if not that, maybe I'll try my hand at a SOG. This first run will pay for the cabinet easily, and should definitely keep me supplied until the next harvest.

Fuck SOG..... seriously leave that to drbud and shit. It's a pain in the ass.... I don't care who is telling me it's so damn easy just to dunk this or water 50 little bottles etc etc. Nah, I'll do 16 plants tops. Tops

Yeah if I went back to a closet or a cabinet (I am still going to build another cabinet just so I always have a 400w mmj machine) I would definitely go for a RDWC scrog ala freezerboy if I didn't stick organic. You can pull big number from just a few plants and quicker with the explosive growth.

I don't think I would do more than 2-4 plants in a cab or a closet again.... I would rather scrog 2. I'm not a fan of 1 plant growing..... gotta have a backup.

The max # of plants I would do in this cabinet is 8 I think, and I would only do that with an automated watering system like the Blumats I have now, and that doesn't really fit the definition of sog (4 plants per sq ft, which would be 20~ in this cabinet).

I would never do DrBud style high density sog with the current laws. The plant #s just aren't worth it IMO. Cultivation laws start at 3-10 plants in my state, so I've always been curious if 1-2 plants would only count as possession? :dunno: It's definitely some motivation to grow trees.

I'm definitely planning on doing an 8 plant run after this, just so I can work out the details of different mediums and containers. After that, I'll probably do a 1-2 plant grow based on the findings of this next run.

This is my current plan for the next run...

I'm taking my best C99 and getting 8 identical cuts, putting them into these containers...

  • A - 100% coco, Liquid Light, 7 liter square container
  • B - 100% coco, Liquid Light, 7.5 liter Air Pot
  • C - 67% coco, 33% perlite, Liquid Light, 7 liter square container
  • D - 67% coco, 33% perlite, Liquid Light, 7.5 liter Air Pot
  • 1 - 100% coco, 7 liter square container
  • 2 - 100% coco, 7.5 liter Air Pot
  • 3 - 67% coco, 33% perlite, 7 liter square container
  • 4 - 67% coco, 33% perlite, 7.5 liter Air Pot

This will allow me to figure out...

  • A,B,C,D vs 1,2,3,4 (Liquid Light vs none)
  • A,C,1,3 vs B,D,2,4 (Air Pots vs Square Pots)
  • B,2 vs D,4 (100% coco Air Pots vs 67% coco, 33% perlite Air Pots)
  • A,1 vs C,3 (100% coco Square Pots vs 67% coco, 33% perlite Square Pots)
  • A,1 vs B,2 (100% coco Square Pots vs 100% coco Air Pots)
  • C,3 vs D,4 (67% coco, 33% perlite Air Pots vs 67% coco, 33% perlite Square Pots)

Very detailed GMG....

I was going to do coco and all the knowledgeable experienced people said the perlit mixed coco gave better yields and helped not have that wet void directly under the rootmass. I was going to do a side by side but went in another direction. Can't wait to sit along and watch what you come up with :)

curious what do you want to know about square pots? I've used square, round, airpots and now just put my girls into 10 gallon smartpots.

Square pots are what I have now, and they contain more medium than round pots of the same size, so they just seem more efficient than round containers to me. :dunno:

I can fit two 8 gallon Air Pots in my cabinet, I'd really like to see what kind of monsters I could grow in those. Give them a couple months veg under a screen... :chin:

hey GMG,
ive been using 2 gal round heavy dutys for abit now. just started geting the 6 x 6 squared pots. i do like the square pots better. id say they breath better then the rounds ones. the bottoms are raised and have more holes in it. and on the round pots, it just has 4 - 6 tabs cut out on the sides of the bottom.
ive also been using smart pots. they are great. i have some pretty big moms in the 3 gal ones and the roots arent poking out yet. very good airation on them. they do try out faster tho.... air pots next
your signature is super helpful. but, shit looks great keep it up.

Ahh okay, I was wondering if you were trying to see if the square pot grew better roots or something like that..... I was gonna say no def not, just the same as my rounds.... roots coil same too

But yeah, I like the harmony of square containers. I bought all those 5 gallon super pots that are 12x12 square at the top so I could (if I felt inclined, fit 16 of those 5 gal under each of my lights.) Round pots that size I think were 14 or 15 inches maybe.

Now I won't even use em prolly.... there goes $80 in containers :D

GMG that is the same goal I have for my cabinet with a 400 watt HPS and after my first harvest of 9+ oz I'm thinking that it should not be more than a few more grows until I achieve this goal. And you should be right there with me.
