Unc - can I save that first pic of the 2 bees onto my harddrive and show some friends? In ceramics class there are two bee keepers and I went over to one of their farms, that picture is EPIC :peacock:

That 3'rd picture plant, you got me, something at school and i will find out for you sir. and if you want some I can collect seed.

Maybe you can identify it this way?

By the way Unc, I finally pulled the trigger and planted my succulents :)

I need more grow stones, and actual rocks, going to border it nicely and then do a spiral in an open space I left to put a chair. Soon I will build an awning for the shade cloth so that the chair won't be brutal.

Thought you might like the chinese hibiscus, one of the better shots my camera pulled off recently. Good vibes, happy 420 :smoweed:

Man Unc that bee looks like it's all pissed off with you all up and in it's business like that, or maybe you just blew a whole lot of smoke and it's now all stoned out in that case you don't need to fear of it stinging you.

the great cactus blossom festival continues...
have a couple of cactus blooming for the first time since i got them...
given the variety of hedgehog cactus blooming im wondering if they will produce any funky hybrids or possibly any inter-genetic hybrids that could come about with the other species popping at the same time...

finally was able to get some more gravel and bark mulch and river rock, and got another dozen plants in the ground...there wasnt much in the way of die off this winter,a lot of stuff is just waking up now,but the bulk of the garden has been showing new growth and flowers, and most of the flowering plants will go right through until november so its quite colorful now...there could be a wider pallet of colors to work with in the desert plants, but whatever they may lack in showy color they make up for in robust growth and mounds of flowers...i have a few blackfoot daisies i got in one gallon containers that cover 4x4 areas now after a year of growth...super good ground cover and the seeds provide food for birds...

anyway, one of freshly graveled areas...

been working on that thin strip in front of the sidewalk....tough bit of ground since i have to dig out all the soil and sort as much of the bermuda grass roots and rhizomes out,and i have to go down several feet...got about 1/3 of it planted in native grasses and wildflowers plus a few non native species just cause i like them..
about 1/3 the plants you see are volunteers that just came up on their own

im paying the price for it today...back is aching....
its easy,i have a good nursery i work with, and at this point i have a good feel for what will thrive and what im willing to roll the dice on and try out,and the desert plants are easy, just water them on occasion and they do fine..
