I need to get a real camera...this phone i'm using isn't good enough...lol

Do it. A simple "point n shoot" will do the job with less effort/money, but won't be as versatile and have the picture quality a DSLR can capture, especially if you want extreme macro shots. I am biased though - I love my DSLRs :)

Well that calls for some disco type dancing  Spread the love brotha!

Quick question, and sorry if I missed it, (the porn shots got my mind all googly) but what is your general setup?

hi JT - currently it's as simple as can be...they're just vegging round the clock in a 3 tier t5 light set up

c99 on top , headband clones in middle , bottom shelf is empty

Greetings,

I've been reading about this variety for a long time. It sounds really good to me. Someone gave me a "Pineapple" cut (C99?) that looked great and smelled great. It was really pineapple until the very end when a peppery smell started to dominate. It had really skinny leaves. The smoke was quite disappointing. I might have done something wrong, or the aroma was selected for at the detriment of the potency/quality. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Now I have been gifted a cut of Thai x (Colombian Gold x (C99 x ???)). I detect that peppery aroma in the cut. I always thought that Thai sticks had a citric rind and pepper aroma, so I have renewed hope that a good cut of C99 was used to help make the Thai and Colombian easier to grow.

Looking forward to seeing how this C99 works out for you, and what it looks like when mature.

Best of luck,

ThaiBliss

hello there Thaibliss & thanks for stopping in:thank you: I can tell you that lots of C99 cross's got made over the years & if they were made with original f1 pollen ,then usually the resulting cross was an improvement...what you are describing as the c99 cut gifted to you as "thin leaves and peppery smell" does not sound like the c99 i remember...c99 should have very strong aroma's of a mix of tropical fruits with citrus undertones and also a rich butter-like aroma mixed in there as well...its complex & luscious...we will see what the new cindy develops into:)

There's no "magic" solution to easily focus with macro subjects unfortunately. Manual focus of some kind is usually best. Auto focusing with tiny subjects usually ends up where the camera prefers it rather than where you prefer it to be.

Some use a macro focusing rail to make focusing a bit easier (turn a knob and you can adjust focus by fractions of a millimeter), but I usually don't bother with mine, instead opting to re position the tripod in small increments - I can usually get away with it with the larger macro subjects like small nugs or a few seeds.

IMO it's more important to to get a good solid tripod/head and lens than the DSLR itself. Either way if you buy used (but still quality gear at a knockdown price), and an older DSLR you can get yourself a very capable setup for a relatively good price. I'd recommend a Canon 40D or 50D + EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens + set of Kenko extension tubes for Canon. Get a tripod/head from a manufacturer with a good rep eg Gitzo... most combos can be made to work, but I would personally avoid tripods with set leg angles for macro work.

Feel free to PM me if you want to discuss the subject in more detail

:tiphat:

Run more than a few versions of C99, Original, GN03, Dutchgrown, Mosca f1, Mosca bx1, many f2's and f3's never had what I would consider a peppery smell or taste in any. Spicy sort of but not really a peppery spicy more of a super sharp fruitiness. Sugar coated sharp fruity punch sort of taste.....my favorite of all time was a hawaiian fruit punch that also had a metallic after taste to it. Was "THE" Kill.

I also grabbed a couple of the last packs of nugshinners but none germinated he said they were really old. Also should anyone still have any mosca bx1 lot #711 throw them straight into the rubbage they are worthless and low germ rates had 3 packs still have 3 seeds might as well toss them...anyways....

Crash: one could go to Craigslist and look for restaurant equipment for sale. They go under all the time and have to liquidate. The NSF wire racks used for storage can be had on the cheap, are well built and easy to keep clean. Highbay T-5 fixtures can be found at supply stores like this one, much cheaper than grow stores.

Is where I found my last ones.

i agree it's definitely cheaper to DIY

If they're looking this good already the flowering period is going to be downright amazing to see :)

one of the many facts i know from my past experience with C99 is that...she would throw astonishing flowers @ you very fast in an easy to grow plant...that's the nut-shell
