I'd say Ali would win. Close call though. In his prime Tyson could bob and weave very well, I'm not so sure Ali could easily keep him on the outside. Frazier did not have that kind of mobility.

However, Tyson was already an unstable kind of character, Ali might have beaten him before the match, you see how obsessed he was with psyching Frazier out? Also, I think Ali went through some wars. He got up after getting knocked down and he could take a punch better than any boxer I've ever seen. I don't think Tyson had the heart and chin that Ali had.

Tyson Would Win based on being the youngest and devastating puncher on the heavyweight circuit and would knock out Ali in the First Round.

Ali started as a light heavy weight-winning based on taunting tactics and foot speed.Soon as he got to heavy weight,he slowed down.

And Taunting Tyson ?
Tyson would make Ali tie his shoes then knock him out. Then stomp Ali personal trainer. Then kill his bees.Steal his honey. Then knock out Ali's Boxing Daughter before being born.Ali's mom would be a no-show.

Would it even be a question if Iron Mike was a media darling, and the voice of a generation, and the face of a sport for 30 years? If Ali talked about eating babies, got locked up for rape, and got face tattoos?

I think back to all of the great fighters that Ali battled. To be honest, Tyson didnt have a great group of fighters to fight while he was in his prime. Some might disagree but Ali fought way more boxing legends than Tyson did.

as a boxing FANATIC i gotta weigh in here. i would bet every last dime on ali.
A) tyson was probably the greatest knockout puncher in the history of the heavyweight division(though george, if he hadnt been retired by ali in his prime might have been right there with him)
B) ali was without question the greatest heavyweight of all time
C) tyson COULD knock out ali, or anyone on the planet at any time, IF given the chance, but.....
D) when ali beat foreman-there was not a man on the planet that hit harder, not only did ali take it, he beat him and mindfucked him so bad george missed out on the PRIME OF HIS CAREER. thats more than a beating, thats a mindfuck deluxe. literally walked away from the sport he loved for what, 10 years? think about how badass that makes ali. really, think about that....
E) ali is probably the greatest man to be a professional athlete of all time. his character, pride and honor would not have allowed mike to get the best of him. he would have outwilled him. period. and thats something mike never learned.

Great points subrob.....Tyson was so weak of mind and would have been highly susceptible to Ali's mind-games.

Two words-MITCH GREEN. Anyone remember that alleyway ass whippin ? Which one do you think Mitch believes would win? That ONE PUNCH looked like Ali took several rounds to do that..whew, I know, I know, different circumstances, but I'm just sayin...

I just sat here and thought about how much I miss the old days of WIDE WORLD OF SPORTS..you know..the thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat.
That dude on the skis STILL makes me cringe when I see the old footage...
Anyways, I remember growing up in the 70's, and watching Ali in his last days competing, and wishing that Spinks boy or Larry (FORD Tough!) didn't beat him.
People say Ali cause nobody wants to get they ass beat by a mean ol bully. Heck, Ali would help you up, brush you off, and then wink as he patted you on your butt and on your way.
Mike would by wiping your teeth off his Tim's and pattin' you down, before he lit up a blunt and smoked it RIGHT OVER YOUR BEAT UP BODY. Standing there laughin' and shit..

Ali was a technician, a master a la Gracie in the first few UFC's of the early 90's.. Outmatched in size practically every time, and still put fools in check.
Ali will forever be the OG sports icon. Talent, principles, longevity, charisma. There will never be another like him...

But please oh please don't let mike get in one of those uppercuts, or haymakers..oh..my..goodness. I remember watching the old VHS tape, Mike Tyson's greatest knockouts...I will put Ali's footage up against that slug-porn at any party...
Yeah, we all love Ali, but do we really want to see how much his head would be messed up now if Mike got in a few rounds of connecting-win or lose...I'm just sayin..

Ali, but at the bell, both fighters embrace, bloodied but unbowed, and Ali whispers in Mike's ear..."Ain't gon be no rematch...ain't gon be no rematch.."

in his day ali was the man a lot of people loved to hate. he knew it, and played it to the hilt ... learned it seeing how the "heels" in pro wrestling drew the crowds.

Ali's my favorite boxer of all time, but I dont know bout this one. If Tyson caught him right he'd fall, but Ali can dance like a mofucka so he might not catch that shit. I'd say Tyson, but it could go either way.

I would put my money on ali provided:

1. If tyson couldn't land too many punches. Face it, when tyson connected with punches, damage was done, often one was knocked out. You can't dismiss a man who can knock out fighters with a single blow.

2. If Ali was in primo shape. Although Tyson had the hammer, Ali was faster in the ring and had better footwork and fundamental skills.

Its a tricky one ....They both was some bad ass fighters and boxers...Tyson is a fighter mohamed is/was a boxer imo ..They do not have good tecnic but they can trow them punch like a horse kick and they are fast :D they are from a diffrent time so a match between them will end up in a tyson Victori on KO im sure.....Tyson is a much more mental mean and diffrent boxer then Ali...They both have a problem.....Mike go mad when he get hit that is no use ...Ali if he get a hit he go play whit em forget hes parade and so on and thats why that white boy i can remember broke he jaws Bigtime and defeat him .....

But LOOOOOL Larry Holmes muhuhahaha The danish boxer Brian Nielsen the fat ass bastard beat him up real good then we all sing LARRY GO HOMES LARRY GO HOMES LARRY LARRY LARRY GO HOMES ...so funny Brian was a shit boxer i loved him once but when he trew the white thing to dry u whit in the ring against Tyson i hate him he could have go all rounds ,,,yes larry whas semi old when the fight was on but hey he absolutly got beat downs big time :D Evander Holifield is awesome and so is Mads larsen...this guy will take every body down and thats 4 sure ....

what would be great is if the money were even in all the weight classes. then, the greatest division of all time would have been light heavies! think about the fighters who would have stayed in that class! from dempsey and marciano and lewis on up. ali woulda been a light heavy-for at least awhile, holyfield, tyson, the list goes on and on.....
---next up, lets use john mccain for something really useful. before his prez run, he wanted to federally regulate boxing. i wonder why he is not makin that noise anymore? hope he doesnt think hes gonna get another chance at the oval office. cmon john, help us all out here....
---and larry holmes was agreat champion, born at absolutely the worst time!!!! if there would have been better heavies during his reign, we would be comparing him to ali! most boxers have had an off night. i have never seen a better jab from a heavy in my life. he used to win entire fights off his back foot throwing that jab out!! just never really had a nemesis. boxers NEED at least one nemesis.....you know what, we need to start a boxing thread....

Ali was the bomb.....could move like no other and had a nice ass reach which would have given him the edge over Iron Mike....but like everyone said...if Tysons catches u ....no matter who u were...any human being....if Tyson caught u ....lights out....but guys with reach and who were tall.....they could give it to Mike.....Remember Mike Tysons Punchout.....I feel like Glass Joe TKO status after the bowl i just toked!
