Well, in an attempt to answer the original post, this is the best I can offer. OG comes out of Chem/Dawg and Diesel lineage, but what created the original seed(s) is a total mystery to just about everyone. The versions I can figure to be the oldest cuts are the Fire OG (Raskal's cut), Larry, and Tahoe. The SFV has been around for a while but not nearly as long as those other three. The SFV (clone only version) comes from Swerve, a grower turned breeder, but where he found his cut is somewhat of a mystery. The SFV may be the best yielder of them all with rather large, round, chunky golf ball type nugs, but I have always found the flavor to be just a bit lacking. The Larry is a rather lemony cut, that grows long and lanky, again with rather nice round chunks of nugs. The Tahoe is probably the most indica dominant, however its buds are somewhat long and foxtail-esque. It is still a lanky plant, but more squat than the Larry. My favorite is the Fire cut, it is the most well rounded in effect, offering an even head and body effect. The buds are round, the tops can become a series of buds stacked on top of each other, and they are incredibly frosty. As you can see tall, lanky plants are typical, and their distinctive leaf pattern gives them away. They start with a very distinct three bladed leaf, it kind of looks like a dinosaur footprint, and even near the top the leaves often only have 5 blades. I did not get into the Abusive or Ghost cuts as my experience with them is very limited, but they are also rather old cuts. Then there are the Poison, Soul Assassin Crew, and Hell's Angels Cut, again, I have very limited experience with these and they all seem to have appeared later in the mix. I hope this has answered some of the questions you had. There are tons of OG varieties out there and more every day.
