I love your threads Cap, You and I take opposite routes to the same destination. I want to see how much I can get from 1 plant whereas you want to see how many plants you can get under 1 bulb. I must say, after trying your lst without any of the topping I usually goin for, I can use this method right under the bulb where hight is a big no no, and go for single colas or a single supper topped and cropped plant at the back where hight is desirable.

HARVEST TIME none to soon! I am happy for you - if people here only knew your real heart for the hurting - my hats of to you & the cannabis spirit - U represent.

ya see Caprichiso; I found it easy in life to give when u have a lot - but to offer & give when there is a personal need & not a lot to go around - that is REAL giving that will last into the next life.

If giving does not cost you something - it's only a puff in the wind to eternity

Well, the first numbers are in and it's not even close.

An average of 13 grams per plant from the first five, which will total out to 260 from the entire room, or just under 10 ounces.

Some things to note:

These plants received only two weeks of veg growth, meaning 80 days from rooted clone to harvest

The fifteen trained plant I did last time had almost four weeks to achieve 20% better yield numbers with 25% fewer plants, but the two fewer weeks per generation mean, in the course of a year, I can get an entire extra harvest out of 20 untrained plants. This would come close to mitigating the yield difference.

The biggest benefit is the ease of growing this way. No training saved me probably 10 - 15 hours of work through the couse of 80 days.

The biggest drawback, assuming equal annual yields, are the number of plants involved, which is how LEO is America determine severity of infraction

All in all, this was worth doing but I wont do it again. I have restarted my perpetual harvest using these clones and have some newbeans on the way that I'm doing a test grow with. I'll fully document the results as my room stays at 20 watts per square foot using a plain old 400 HPS.

Stay tuned for the rest of the harvest results over the course of the next few days.

Hi there Cap,
I've been following your thread and have enjoyed it immensly! , my kudos to you for your efforts man.

Can I ask you approx what height the plants were after the 2wks veg and/or when they went into 12/12?, my apolz if I've missed it in the thread.

After my last grow, which consisted of Afghan mainly, I'll be topping/training every grow from now on methinks?, I let some of the afghans just grow untouched: no topping, no training, bending, nada.
They were all too small though when I put them into flower I think now? as yields were, on average 14g per plant dried but they were only 18"-24" tall when finished  . The others which had been topped and/or trained plus a lot of the popcorn removed from the bottom yielded much better.

I think maybe the choice of strain definately has a bearing on this, as you'll know, some tend to branch a lot producing natural side tops but some strains don't branch much at all unless topped or trained etc. I guess it was just my bad luck that the ghanis I didn't top/train didn't show much lateral branching? lol.

Thanks GMT, well currently i have 10 plants going as the first generation of my perpetual harvest. Then I'll begin rund of five plants per generation, with four generations in the room. Should be harvesting five plants every 15 days or soby this summer.

Esskie, thanks for the kind words.
-After two weeks of veg they were between 12" and 14" tall
-Don't top your plants, just tie it over and keep your most developed top to harvest. See link in sig.
-I know what you mean. This strain showed tremendous side branching which may have hurt my yield due to the style of grow. But it should do very well in training for my perpetual harvest.

GWFH, thanks, I'll keep trying. My eforts at setting a baseline for cannabis growing are well underway. :D

Final yields are in. A total of 274 grams dried or just as predicted above, just under 10 ounces. I'm pretty disapointed in the yield numbers, but not really. I mean, ten ounces is ten ounces, right?

Hi there Cap  ,

Thanx for that man, I was just curious as everything is usually topped prior to flowering here (usually for a clone) but I need to veg longer/grow taller before flowering from now on too.

-Don't top your plants, just tie it over and keep your most developed top to harvest. See link in sig.
That happens to be a very informative guide to plant training my friend! , I read it before to get info about training my Humboldt SnowBud motherplant so she produces more shoots/clones and just recently read through most of it again.
Not that training in flower is a problem at all, they're in 12L buckets which I could place screws? into the top of to tie onto? but I'm not sure I could trust myself to keep on top of it? .

Btw, I am just beginning a, hopefully!, perpetual harvest cycle too :whip: :joint: , the way I've worked mine out (based on an 8 week flowering strain) is either 6 plants every 2wks? or 12 plants every 4wks?, despite the last one not being strictly a perpetual harvest.
12 every 4wks would do as ok!, I'm a heavy smoker but c'mon! lol. If the 6 every 2 option does get going I'd like to veg until the plants are approx 20"-24" tall after topping to ensure a decent return per plant you know?.

-....This strain showed tremendous side branching which may have hurt my yield due to the style of grow. But it should do very well in training for my perpetual harvest.
Really?!?, do you mean because you had been training them?.
A plant with lots of good healthy lateral branching for me, is good for filling in gaps between plants not to mention the multiple heads. I hate to see light hitting the clay pebbles and/or between my buckets coz if it's shining on those then it's not producing therefore it's wasted light > power you know?.

Just the style of growing I normally end up doing?, I do like to remove a lot of the very bottom branches & popcorn so there's more focus on the upper part of the plant though. I always really fancied trying a SCROG or SOG but despite doing a couple of kind of? SOGs, never done a screen grow.

Already looking forward to your next grow thread I've enjoyed this one so much!, thanx for showing us all your grow and sharing your methods etc. I love to read other folk's grow reports
