..great thread ..thanks for starting it up ..it certainly has helped along the way.

..is anyone out there loading from n-tane canisters ..i have some research grade butane and propane to use ..i must admit the canister is a little intimidating ..i was under the impression it was going to be smaller but it looks like a co2 tank with a different valve ..

picture.php

..my plan is to ..and please correct me if im wrong ..to attach this tank to the 't' where my can tapper connects ..put this monster on the mail scale ..charge the loop using close to 3#'s out of the tank ..recover ..weigh my recovery tank to see where i landed and take it from there ..hopefully to extraction.. once i have this tek dialed i would like to blend the butane and propane into one extraction ..i think i will recover all the tane and most of the pane ..i think being the key words...

..aside from not having whatever connection i need to go from this tank to my 't' ..does anyone see a problem with what i want to do ..after many extractions and many cunfusing moments ..i am extremely well versed in the use of my BHOgart..
..if anyone knows what connection to use and where to get it.. super thanks in advance ..

..i am in possession of some extremely nice cbd strains just to toss that out there ..but i think everyone is at this point...

..once again ..@apollojmr ..great thread...

I am pretty sure you are gonna want to visit glaciertank.com ...not positive..but they seem to have most parts needed for that..I also just bought a 5 lbs tank of tane and I am wanting to use that as my recovery tank and I am wondering if that is ok..anyone that knows I would appreciate a reply.

Does anyone know anything about Bhogarts new 'Shatter Platter'?
I take it's some kind of inline filter of some sort...

Sorry, I was referring to the 2" inline filter plates they are selling now...

I have a smaller shorter bottom on my mk4, opening the pot is a snap now, no more sticking on the gasket and easy to pour or scrape. With a top view port the gasket is also a nice marker for how the recovery is going.

If you are talking about the filter that is attached to the refrigerant pump that is a filter that takes the water out of the system so it does not ruin the appion pump. Other that that there is also an inline filter that I have called a vapor view that is supposed to help in many areas of the system. I included a link to the vapor view here.
I hope that helps you.

Are you using that thing to remove heat from the tane as it goes
back into your recovery tank?

I use it mostly for the glass viewing myself to see the tane in action..but it is supposed to absorb the heat and speed up the process a little. I am not sure how effective it really is though. I am going to try a few runs with and without to test it while logging the results and I will post here after I do.

Here's a brother touting Vapor Views for pump protection,

"Lew Swan
There are some decent points here, but we perform a few very important few steps to ensure that these kinds of pumps can be used. First of all, butane itself is not flammable unless mixed at a specific ratio with air. If you pre-vacuum the air out of your chamber and column before transferring butane, you eliminate the air from the system greatly reducing the inherent dangers. Another major problem we have found with recovery pumps is that they are made to transfer vapors, and if liquid gets into the pump it can cause it to blow out very quickly. Every pump we supply whether it's an appion, Diablo, rg6000, care saver, etc comes with a device called a vapor vue which converts any liquid into a vapor before entering your pump. Before we started using these we warranteed out 5-6 pumps a month but ever since we started using them we have not had a single one come back at all. It's cool to advertise your new extractor system as cleaner, but to accuse closed loop extractor operators and manufacturers of turning a blind eye is untrue. We all care a great deal about quality and health and pursue the best equipment we can find for the job at hand. Hope everyone has a great day and cheers.

Very nice to hear that from someone. I am however wondering why I was told by another extractor to place it where I have it placed now, which is right on the guages at top of the blue hose. I will have to experiment some now to see if it works better. Thanks!

Those are the inline dewaxing thingy's...

You add mesh screen to em...

Right, I get that, but why not just get a screened gasket? You'll need a gasket to attach the filter plate anyway. It just doesn't make sense to me to add two things when one can accomplish the same task. Unless of course I am missing something(really not trying to be a wise ass here, was quite interested in these before having this realization)

Krunch, I know you're familiar with elliot and how he uses the filter plates. Is the advantage that it allows you to pack stainless steel wool and various other filters like he does? Does it go regular gasket->filter plate->mesh->filters->screen gasket?

Really curious about the price and whether or not it'd be worth it. Seems like a cool idear.

I would assume the screened gaskets has too little filtering area?

Yes, you are completely correct!

Not only do they allow for more filtration media, but screened gaskets have the potential to plug and tear, especially when filtering to a low micron. Having a filter base which accepts filter papers also allows you to filter to 1 micron if you so desire(not advisable)

I believe the filter bases are just over $100, at least they were when BHOgart came out with them.

As for the vapor vue...it seems like function is much higher on the chart than trying to maintain a sanitary extraction environment free of harmful contamination. I think people tend to forget that this is not the HVAC industry. Does anyone know what they are composed of?
