The Not So Solventless Clear Concentrate From Harborside!

Just picked up two liters of quality d Limonene from the well head for experimentation, after that entry won a prize.

I went straight to Lebermuth Co for premier quality d Limonene with certifications, and then talked to Horatio, the Canadian brother who extracted the oil and submitted the entry, to determine how he did it.

He gave the following advice:

Vacuum distill the Limonene first to get the heavier elements out first, same as butane. The heavier elements are too hard to get out later and leave a strong taste.

Winterize with Ethanol.

Use a Rotovape and dry ice cold trap to remove the Limonene and alcohol under vacuum at low temperatures.

Wash the remaining Limonene out as an azeotrope using water washes and cold boiling under vacuum.

By cold boiling, he was able to maintain his entry in carboxylic acid shatter form and the Limonene measured no higher than the rest of the terpenes.

Though all monoterpenes were low by BHO standards, the judges reported that it was pleasant tasting, smooth, and effective. Enough to give it first place in connoisseurs class.

Certainly sounded worth looking at. Hee, hee, hee..............

Yes indeed!

I am very interested in this! Please keep us posted Gray Wolf!!!

I don't own a rotovape(yet!)

Although it's not necessary for this process, it would be necessary for me to have all the right tools before I attempt this

I would love to sample this extract, can't wait for this to become more common

I'm kinda dabbed out right and I don't have that much experience with a rotovape but I thought it might aid in distilling BHO. My theory from looking at my vacuum lines is that some form of vacuum distillation would work. I saw post about steam distillation or some type of vacuum steam distillation to make hash oil but I have to find it again to remember exactly where I was going...

Hee, hee, hee, a ghost from Christmas past, in the olden days before my professional retirement!

I can see that he too has found a new hobby in retirement. Coming from the R&D lab of a Fortune 500 company , should give him adequate insight on running a rotovape, and a wealth of other information to share.

Perhaps I can track him down and encourage him to join in?

w00t! Love the knowledge being shared. Can't wait to see where this all goes

Initially I thought the glycerin would help with this viscosity and not having terps as opposed to using limonene but now working with the limonene I'm having second thoughts anyways I have my limonene let me see what I come up with

The impression that I've been given is that "The Clear Concentrate" folks were the first to get this type of product to market, but their former collaborators from the Werc Shop have since gone into business helping others (HGH, etc.) make a similar terpene-added product.

Correct. Clear brought the purification tech to the werc shop, they brought the terpene profiles to Clear.

It feels like theres bad blood between them now.

Am I the only one that see what the Werc Shop is doing is a huge conflict of interest to their existing testing business? Some strains only exist because of their unique terpene profile, and the Werc shop compiles all the terpene data from samples without the owners consent and then makes a product to mimic that terpene profile at the request of anyone? Remind me to never test anything there

The purity levels are unmatched. I think that is the biggest draw, the fact that it is the cleanest product available. The cost to have bho refined into "clear" is expensive, unless your in the know....

I agree it should be insanely cheaper considering you can use any old crappy starting material and clean it up. The only advantage to this tek is economical and their business model doesn't exploit that so they wont be around for long.
