I've purchased an RB 2.5#, and built several mk4's. Had some issues with shipping (tweekers stole my packages) but all in all RB has a great machine and at the new price point no one should be bitching. They pay for themselves in a day for me......After building the mk4's I would rather pay an up charge to not source all the parts again and deal with glacier who is extremely disorganized.....and my welders are never timely.

RB is the first extractor company to come out with a legit machine, designed by THE MAN GW, that can meet demand and customer service at a reasonable price. I continue to send business his way....best bang for buck, even up against a bhogart

Congratulations on your growth RB! Keep up the good work.

thank you Perma... we really are working to keep up with demand :/

still pending approval of my account with YJ.

that system isn't available anymore but looks like a rebranded reftec

I am unsure...I'll have to double check

I suspect electro polish to remove the free iron from the welded surface, and prevent subsequent corrosion. A good idea, which we also do.

A lot purdier that some of the oversized and over heated welds we've seen pictures of, no?

RB you said you flood and dump a 2.5lb column in 3 min. Are you doing a top down flush as well?
Can you explain the reason for doing one long flood compared to more quick floods?
How do you prep your material before packing it?

Yes, it is pretty quick. On our current systems I don't have it setup for a top down flush although the new models will have that feature.

Well, you can't easily do cycles because the recovery pumps are the weak link. Since there is so much room in the bottom spool, you can just run the butane through your column until it starts to clear and then dump your main column. I believe the reason cycles were used was due to the small bottom spool used and the risk of overflowing.

You really don't want a lot of contact time between the butane and your material, which would happen if you were running cycles on a big system. On the smaller units, you can actually watch the needle on your gauge move. So whether you ran a couple cycles or one long flood that would equal a couple cycles comes down to preference.

We grind and sift. Otherwise you can't get as much in the columns. We sold a system to a friend who had this metal weighted packing rod, and he got amazing results in terms of what he could fit into his columns.

RB how is that yamato you picked up? Did you get the new AI as well?

Does anyone have a tutorial on rebuilding the appion gearbox? Or something to improve the gearbox?

It is really nice. The build quality is amazing but it comes at a cost. No, it hasn't come yet but we are really excited!

I haven't seen anything out there on rebuilding a gearbox, but it probably is fairly straight forward. My understanding is that you don't actually need the fan to run the unit

The fan is for the heat exchanger, so you can blow on it with another fan.

PS: I haven't wrecked mine yet, but Specialized Formulations lost one of theirs and had to replace it, so you might ask them. Tell them I sent you.
