Claude chases the Tiger

I've been having fun with my first try at growing a hardcore tropical sativa.

Seeds were planted October 25

Golden Tiger shows great vigor. Here they are on November 9

All three Tiger seeds germinated. 1 sexed as a male quite quickly. I removed him from the room and saved pollen.

I took cuttings from each of the two remaining seedlings and labeled them with my dual tracking system: each pot gets marked with a sharpie and all pots have a piece of a colored drinking straw that is the same color as the mother. Luck was in my favor and both turned out female.

I reduced light to 12/12 December 15. By the end of January I could see two very distinct phenotypes developing.

This is how the thicker and slower phenotype looked 6 weeks ago:

This is how that phenotype looks now:

This plant is in a 2 liter bottle. The plant is about 110 cm/43 inches tall. The bud is now so heavy that it needs support.

The other phenotype has very thin branches and the calyxes swell much more quickly.

Here is a picture from 4 weeks ago:

And the mother 3 weeks ago:

A few weeks ago I followed advice to reduce my hours of lighting. The mother shown above is now putting on weight and resin quickly:

This is a closeup of the slower and thicker phenotype. Each of the many little foxtails is about 8-9 cm in length and still growing!

She has a long way to go. I suspect the buds will be very heavy by the time she finishes.

I'm raising these in a square meter growing area. They are under 400 watt HPS with supplemental lighting from a 180 watt LED and a a 20 watt LED.

I had too many plants and culled a few early. I also had trouble because I foolishly used Miracle Grow soil. Thankfully the worst effects of the soil are behind me as I've been able to flush some of the excess fertilizer from the soil.

nice 1's... we planted 3 GT seeds, 2 were males n culled immed , the one lady we harvested at 3 diff times 110/120/148 days... didn't see much diff headwise in any of em... smelled like hay when picked but developed a nice smell once jarred...

it isn't the devastating/knock-out weed we were hoping for, but we did take cuttings, and now growing 4 in waterfarms (last grow was soil)... maybe hydro will give it a boost..

Zach,

Maybe the hydro will turn your cut around. Do you have more seeds? May want to try another female.

I was pretty hard on mine this grow but they are frosting nicely now..

I smelled the hay on an early sample when I culled for space. It's definitely particular to this weed when freshly harvested. Just like hay in a warm barn.

I love the smell of both of my phenotypes. I detect a a dark horehound herbal fragrance, but not so everbearing that everyone knows she's there.

Unregistered,

Thanks. Its my joy. I grow from the love of weed and its positive attributes.

Zach,

I snipped a foxtail the other day and it was dry enough to sample tonight. My hits are smaller these days but one lungful got me well started on the evening. I'll take another hit soon.

On edit at 22 after the hour: another bong and its clear that this is pretty strong weed. It's 12 weeks in. This was a bud off the fluffy and later pheno that I broke off by accidentat 12 weeks. I haven't tried the more mature looking cut but I'm snipping a few foxtails tonight.

That's the attitude Claude Hopper :)

Your Golden Tigers have a good part of thai, they probably need soft amount of fertilizer, especially Nitrogen. They are packing on weight and frosting nicely.

Thanks for sharing your love for the plant.

Golden Tiger needs a good long cure. The effect is much more pronounced today than a couple of weeks post harvest. Very hard hitting, clear headed smoke. I shared generously (its personal for me, my profit is in helping those in need) and need to run another batch.

The F2s I have were from two Thai leaning plants. Anybody running f2-3-4s? I'd be interested in how these GTs come out ?

Anyway, I'm starting just a few to go with my Bangi Haze f7s and Bangi Haze X PCKs.

Those are very interesting pictures. Almost everyone just shows Malawi leaning Golden Tiger pics so those were most welcome. I'm growing two different looking pheno's of GT standard but they've just started to flower. I hope one of them looks like yours.

I was lucky to have the one male (I see I didn't get a picture to help identify its pheno) along with the two mothers.

I'm generally more of an outside grower. I had a lot to learn about long flowering sativas and hope to do better this run.

Hi Claude Hopper,

I also like to cure Golden Tiger for a long time to reach its peak of potency and the best mental qualities of its effect. It's very very trippy smoke after a few months of curing, i'm glad to know you are sharing yours with your closest circle. :huggg:

and that's the exact effect we were looking for... unfort, so far we have not found that in seeds we have sowed of GT... we have another 3 seeds growing now, maybe the results will be better this time around.. pics of the last grows...
