after a few days work i have managed to get all the cactus crammed into the front greenhouse...added a layer of plastic to the inside,i think i will go ahead and replace the opaque panels with clear polycarb panels to get a bit more light in there...

lol, mild fall here, still covered in blossoms everywhere, there are often a half dozen species of butterflies as well so its a scene of almost lovecraftian horror....im almost certain the geneva convention has been violated in some fashion...

At least as grotesque as Lovecrafts work. Come to think of it, Id rather be face to face Nyarlathotep.

having a warm fall here,i would call it unusual but this is the desert after all...anyway,still blooming here, the yard has turned into a late season butterfly singles club, mainly the species that stay here year round and mainly hibernate during the winter...

just installed a bunch of new plants today, been getting lots of larger plants, well not lots, they get pricey, but a few centerpieces here and there....spent a lot of time swinging a pickaxe today, pulled out massive amounts of bermuda grass roots....any day that features dead bermuda grass is a good one in my book....i try and be philosophical about it and think at least its holding the soil in place, but after a summer of yanking it out of the same places over and over again im a bit over it....slowly gaining the upper hand....

well this could be nearly the end of the flowering season here, the weather is predicted to turn colder over the weekend so we may have our first hard frost of the season,im sure that will put a damper on some of these plants enthusiasm for flowering...i still have the larger dish garden succulents to get under cover for the winter....may have to scratch together a quick cold frame out front on the south side of the house...

many of the succulents and cactus are taking on their winter hues, like the little santa rita prickly pear, just a plain green cactus during the summer it turns deep purple and red over the winter.
and the little sedums and sempervivum that survived the summer heat are coming back slowly and should survive the winter....i expect some die off over the winter, but the desert natives will spring back if even a tiny amount of the rootball survives,i have had one plant regenerate 4 times now when i had given up on it....
