Great thread masamaaso ,
ive been reading along since the start,

really enjoyed the stories and you relating how the day to day life is where you are,
id have to refresh myself with it all again,
but the return injured fisherman story and the witch doctor woman would have to be my favourite ..

been a real pleasure to see the meals you guys cook,
some great looking food there man ..

i know you dont need me to tell you your a lucky man,
you know it well already im sure ..

posting so i can keep an eye on that pot your growing ,
island pot is often fantastic ,
you have a great spot for producing some fine herb,
keen to see what you can come up with..

What's the Tibetan mink fuk? Is that transcendental meditation? Howard Stern swears by it; not for physical pain, but to center yourself emotionally.

1 ton of cargo, does that include the passengers and their luggage?

For a fishing upgrade, does that include trawling nets?

Have a safe and fun fishing trip, take some pics of the islands you visit and the fish you catch, and hopefully you'll catch any issues with the boat before you head out on a longer voyage.

I wish I had some pissy smellin work but I mainly have fruity stuff
Like a mister nice( g13xhash plant )crossed with some cherry pie herm dust
(None of the 6 I've grown have shown nuts)
And a mr nice x white widow
Cherry pie. X white widow
Cherry pie x blue berry ( Cali connection never released)
The nice pie (mr nice x cherry pie) x white widow
And nice pie x blue berry
Any of those sound interesting?
Oh yeh and a purple pheno of bubba kush x cherry pie
Forgot to do a bubba x ww or bubba x blue berry
But I still have pollen and cuts so let me know maybe we should let the ship mates decide
But of course if somthing tickles your fancy ill happily add a few of ur pref..
All seem to have a very good resistance to mould and pest ( knock on wood)
Would love to see any one of my beans growing across the globe..
Like I said I'm not a breeder just a guy that won't pay nutty prices for a bean,
And has a vision of "MY perfect strain" and would love to add some fast flowers for a bumper crop for you to enjoy.. It's the least I can do for the short novel you have provided me,
Thanks captain...

How about the smoking roach, seems like a good name for a boat. lol.

Love the new boat Masa, I hope the seas are kind and she lands plenty of fish. How about naming her 'Madra' which I think is the Irish word for dog? Sounds like you're on to a winner if the mrs is suggesting upgrading your gear as well. A new boat AND new tackle? You truly are blessed:laughing:

Got back in here last night,,, man whatta ride,,the boat cruises sweet as can be and notta prob on the whole trip,,cept my cam finally took its last shot.
We made it to the southern tip of the Island of Palawan,,,,sorta,we took my wifes brother with us,,cause honestly,,he knows the tides and currents better than I do,,the currents in the short open sea run to get to the Indonesian coast took its tool on engine number 1 as soon as we were outa land sight of the last island stop we made,, engine #2 picked up the slack pretty sweet and gave me better control of the boat but sucked up twice the diesel, I know next time to go with 3, 32 liter jugs not 2,,, gonna keep the "pucker factor" down. but 32 HP had us clicking right along,,,the guy that built the boat told me what it could do and pretty much not do ,,,, we had to make a few extra stops on account of that, but it was cool, gave my wife a chance to get on land more often than we thought, as well im gonna go one size up for both props.and need some walk boards along the back so i can get a better trolling reach.. I spent a lot a time fukin off with trolling, and the misses was getting uncomfortable,,not really pissy,,,,yet ,,,just uncomfortable,,, but I did well,,,,boated 6 Tinigy (king mackerel) 3 of um were 10 kilos each the other 3 were all 4 kilos, 3 Dorados at 6,,,,.6.,,,, and 8 kilos, and so many Barracudas we stopped counting.
As we traveled and I fished we would use the fish as a gift to the people we stopped at along the way, ,, the Filipinos have a word for it, one of my favorites in fact from that land,,,,,ready for this shit ??? its called "Pasalubong" PAS A LU BONG,,,its got the word pass and the word bong in it and it means your giving something or someone is giving it to you,,,Pasalubong...
and used 2 of the 10 kilo kings to trade for diesel when we got up to Balabac island.

Ight,,I gotta go get some things done,, check on my crop,,,I can smell it,,,and then go smooth some ruffeled feathers cause i just hauled my own fuel and goods back up in here,,,yea theres a few folks pissed,,, gready lil shits...
I"ll show ya whats on my cam as well answer up on some questions,,,say couple good ones, and I"ll get the shots off the wifes fone camera later tonight..
It is good to be home

Hey mas, not much on posting, but have followed since page one. Loving the stories and have made this thread a part of my daily routine. As many before me have said, thank you for sharing a different way of life and culture that most would barely think twice about. I used to import farmed corals from Indonesia and would love if you're able to snap a few pics if possible. I think I remember mention of a GoPro? At any rate, good vibes from mine to yours.

Oh...my boat name submission. Paralyzing. Seems to fit, but hey you're the skipper.

Wut up Brudda???
Ya need to read back somewhere in the thread I mention the,"Tibetan mind fuk",, now yea it would be cool if I learned it from a Sherpa in a small camp on the outskirts of Kathmandu, but that wouldnt be true, but would make a good story,,,but not true. No I was taught by a friend from Nepal, on the floor of his Bethesda Md home (nice house) as well he's taught a lot of men and women who ended up with life time chronic pains.

Basically its controlled breathing, heart rate ,blood pressure and relaxation,, stillness of the body is key,,,once you move or someone touches you ,,,Its over and you have to start again, oh,,and smoking some hash,,,really helps put you in the state of mind needed to do this, ya really gotta empty all thoughts in yer mind and focus on the target point of your body, as your focused on this your breathing will slow(as ya get better you can drop your heart rate to next to nothing which is when you can "mentally" levitate, or in your mind and what you feel ,,your now "floating " above the floor (NOT REALLY FLOATING ,,IT JUST FEELS THAT WAY).
Its only a temp thing,,lasts as long as you can lay there, but once disturbed ,,,its over, its great for getting some sleep when aches start kicking,,,I'm pretty good at it now and can do it at will in the right setting and do it just about everynight as im in the hammock sucking down bonghits.
And just to toss it in here,,,doing this with a couple hits of old skool purple microdot is the shit snizzy.....

Yea man 1 ton of cargo is the total weight of anything put on board,, people, animals, cargo, and I tell ya when ya start with 2,,225liter barrels of diesel fuel your half loaded, we put a few boxes of dry goods and some cloths and flipflops for the kids I was done, soon as the boat went down in the water under the weight I said ,enough, this was a shakedown cruise not a full blown supply run.

No trawling nets but I do have a few 100 meters of gill net we use when the flying fish pass here, no upgrades this time are going into rods and reels,, what I have is hodge podge piece meal,, what im getting I gonna be SWEEEEEEEEET.
The boys at Amazon are loving me,, ordered 4 Shimano ix4000s with 6 foot tiger lite uglystiks,, gonna string these with 30lb power pro braided and use for shallow trolling for gamefish.
Got 2 PENN BATTLE 5000s each with a 9 foot uglystik,,, im gonna use on the far outsides,,, up high for trolling in the deep cold blue..
They had a sweet Lowrance portable that I know a guy whos got one just like it and it is sweet,,,the price was right ,, so I got one,, thats fishinng gear right ???? hope the wife thinks so too.. but it is a nice unit,,,deep temp ,,GPS and NAV funtions, fish sounder,, cant wait for that to get here,,
And man I got a sundry of all sorts of deep divers mainly greens shallow divers,,,spinners, poppers, crank baits,, rubber worms and lots of squid rubberies so I can make my own depending on water color and clarity and I got 2000 yards of 80lb, 4000 yards of 50lb and 2000 yards of 30lb power pro braided line,,,mossy green.
Wifes gonna see the bill for the line and skitze out on me for sure ,,,shits not cheap, but she did authorize 5kUS for upgrades and i didnt go over by to much,, ...sorta....

sorry the fotos kinda suck,,Sabuya's cell fone cam was all we had.
Here we are trolling for kingfish in the Makassar Strait,,, a body of water that separates the Celebes Sea from the Java Sea and Flores Sea,Its a 110 kilometer stretch at the narrowest point of the strait,, in the back ground is the Indo mainland and 2 lumber smuggling ships, and I beleive that bent rods got a nice Barracuda on the end on it,, the strait was full of um......

Can't wait to see your "island style" release clips on those wide lines. You never cease to amaze me Masa!

Plants are looking good, boat looks sweet, life must be good M8!

You my friend,,,WHOAAAAAA,,,, headrush,,sittin hittin the tube in the hammock...
Ahhh yea ,,ok so thats gonna be a issue unless i wanna spend all day untangling a 4 line "clusterfuk"..
Go any ideas ??? take a look at the back of the boat and have a go at it,, new gear wont be here until sept if im lucky so right now running 2 off the back is easy,, but 2s just not enough now is it ?????

Glad you and your crew made it back home safely. Sounds like a hell of a good expedition Capt. Can't wait to see more pics soon.

Thanks Dingo,, it was a good shakedown,, found a few "issues" here and there with the boat,, but nothing bigtime, biggest of which I fixed last night..
Theres two 16HP direct drive diesel engines mounted on a hardwood frame that is then mounted directly to the hull and the boat is built around it, so whats the issue you ask ??????
Man does it VIBRATE, sweet Jesus thought is was gonna lose some dental work... Yea when both engines are running at2500 RPM and she's cutting through the waves its hard to find a spot that dont absorb it,,,,,So,, when I discovered this I new the fix,,quik, simple, and tested it all day yesterday( didnt catch shit cept a bunch of blue fin tunas), but it worked sweet as apple pie,, and the fix ya ask ??? go ahead ask,,,,

Yes sir,,I took a page from the book of an American Icon.
Rubber mounting bushings and longer mounting bolts WITH washers..
Thank You HARLEY DAVIDSON.

"Pasalubong"... its a beautiful thing brother!

Yea Man,, And I know you know what it's all about, good to hear from ya, hope all's going well out yer way....

If only life rode along at this pace elsewhere . Glad the trip was a safe-un .
What you gonna call the lucky lady ? Kali would be sweet , eastern ring to it & anybody knows the green may be thinking the same thing .

Badger,,,,always good to hear from ya man,, I'm pretty sure i've settled on a name,,It was actually the first one tossed out even before the boat was finished and tossed at me as more of a joke towards my "lifestyle"..

Thanks for the description of the 'TMF', sounds like a very useful technique. Probably helped a lot of people avoid dependence on pain killers.
Do you ever do it in the hot springs?

Sounds like youre really maximizing the ship's fishing capabilities, sucks that you have to wait so long for the upgrades to arrive, but once they do no fish will be safe from 'Island Hippy'.
I have a question, are there sharks in your waters and do you ever catch and eat them?

Nice fix on the vibration issue with the engines. Mentioning Harley Davidson reminded me of your old motorbike. Which was nothing like a hog but that bike served you well. I guess now you're focusing on the sea instead of land. This will be the summer of the 'Island Hippy', the sweetest boat between the PI and the Indo coast...:dance013:

HAGGYYYYYY,,,,:moon:
How are ya lad ?? the new grows looking lovely whatcha got in there ??? hand full of yer "cheeses" so by the end of july ya think..
Yea man the boats great ,,doing a lil fine tuning on her,,in a few weeks when the winds and currents shift Im taking her on a full blown supply run to the north, where im gonna get some arts for both engines,, main bearings are just about the only thing that breaks on these direct drive diesels,, other wise not a lot of moving parts so im gonna get 2 for each engine , cause I tend to be a bit heavy handed with things..:ying:

Thanks for the description of the 'TMF', sounds like a very useful technique. Probably helped a lot of people avoid dependence on pain killers.

Sharks,,,you betcha,,name yer poison,,got just about all of um coming in and around here and catch sell or eat as any other sea animal. mainly small 5-6 foot reef sharks that are not to bad,,they tend to keep a good distance unless theres blood (fish blood) in the water,,then they come in for inspections,

There's a large bull shark that cruises the back waters on a regular basis and it's called an "ASWONG" or Monster,, it has about 4 or 5 plastic 2 liter bottles "stuck " to it with small metal spikes and the bottles pop out of the water when its close to the surface.
Its been blamed for the death of a handful of fishermen and is sought after and hunted, the plastic bottles are buoys from harpoons and spears from the native spear guns when it gets hunted
Usually one of the kids spots it and calls out the alarm,,dosent take long for 40-50 boats to be in the water and heading for the last place it was spotted,( what happens next is really off color even for me to write here for open public forums if ya wanna know what happens next PM me and I"ll give ya what to some are... not need to know details)
When,, more like if,,, the bottles pop up its with a crash of water and shark, very loud and a lot of water displacement, every boat in the water converges on it and hundreds of harpoons (most made just for this hunt) and spears are hurled into the water,, most hitting nothing a few making a mark and 1 or 2 sticking in the shark, the action is fast and dangerous with boats banging into each other either trying to get to the shark ,,,or get away from it.

One day they"ll get it,, it'll get old before then if ya ask me,,ive laid eyes on it 4 times and figger it to be in the 1000lb or better class, its a big fish..
Now some might be asking ,,,hey Capt,,,why dont you whip out that Vietnam era "blooper" you bought a few months back and lob a few 40mm HEs at it ???
Something like that might get noticed....

And,,,,,annnnnnnnnnd
Thats not the name of the new boat,,,

I've decided to name her after one of my favorite girls in world ( with the exception of Sabuya of course) a girl I met when I was a young lad,,lost and alone ( no shit military school at that age and during that era was a bitch ) Yes she corrupted me and led me down her path to new things, new people, wide awakenings,, she's traveled the world with me and has never done me wrong.
It just seems fitting....
