? I trim all older leafs below the second nodes

are you saying you do? or; asking if you should? i think they look great & it would seem the penetration of LED light leaves us w/ the options to make whatever decision suits our own preference

when i have done it; i trim the lower branches

not too sure about that 'defoliation' tech of removing leaves but it seems like bud formation continues absent fan leaves so i wouldnt argue w/ advocates of the tech

look'n good

I do trim below 2nd nodes, once again defying 'convention', but when using hydro the rules change significantly

i find cannabis and hydro to be completely forgiving and allow all sorts of abuse and yet the plant still survives.

not that i like to abuse, but they don't call it weed for nothing. survives in many, many environments.

I bought a couple of the 9.5w Cree household bulbs. Installed one in the mother LED tent and will put the other in the clone 'tent'

Clone Update

I made some extra room between putting a 6" spacer in the bottom which allows for raising the plant height closer to the light, then using a inverted tote with the bottom cut out. This should buy me enough time to finish the plants in the HOT5 tent, then transfer the clones to it

Mother is so sticky. Trics even covering the main stalk + all leaf stems. Due to Red intense ufo, it is hard to get a clear shot of the top 8"

If not for the fact that she is within 2 weeks of harvest, I would put the larger wattage supplemental led globes down low to help energize/feed the lower branches/buds

Yesterday I added an extender and splitter. Now have 3 leds in the clone tent

HOT5

I cut auto watering off Monday and have been watering by eye- oops, some plants went past wilt and killed some primary leafs. No biggy, but...

Since I reconfigured my clone tote, I can let the HOT5 plants go a few more days- assuming I take better care of watering, which is just enough to keep them from wilting ~ 4-6ozs.

LED Tent

Phoenix's buds are fattening up nicely. I'm thinking ~ 7 more days

Clones

I trimmed the huge primaries so I can get more light to the 2 other clones. Also raised the top portion (the inverted tote) and added 2 more LED bulbs (3 total- ~30w)

8 new hybrid seeds.

The plant in the LED tent is from BrandX, a boutique breeder. It is WHxWW pollinated with Bubble Gum. I had a male of that genetics that was pollinating long before Phoenix was ready, so I used some to pollinate one lower branch of my HOT5 Unknown Sat (but mighty good). I also attempted to pollinate one of Phoenix's lower branches. I probably won't know how well (seed count) until I harvest Phoenix. If not, I am saving the rest of the pollen for the clones.

First I was using a 22w Utilitech WW (2 clones did extremely well), but 4 clones were being shaded from the light. Then added a 7.5w Utilitech (sans globe), but it was too far from the shaded clones. Added a CREE 9.5w WW, then replaced the 22 Utilitech WW with an EcoSmart NW. So, currently have 9.5w CREE + EcoSmart on an splitter + extender to get light closer to the lower clones

whats the wattage on the EcoSmart ?

total wattage for clones ?

It has had ~ 30w, but now 21.5; EcoSmart 12w NW + CREE 9.5w WW. The vanity fixture has 3 separate receptacles, so I could simply have 3 individual bulbs (or 6 with splitters), but the clone height got away from me.

Here's a couple pics of the clones + a pic of how I combined a vanity fixture over my ufo
+ extenders in the mother tent

I started harvesting the HOT5 plants today. Forgot what a PITA manicuring is.

In addition to experimenting with lp mist heads, I was experimenting with various size APs to see whether there is any growth difference between the 1 liter v 4 liter.

All plants were same strain clones. 2 of the three plants were in 1 liter APs, the 3rd 1 liter was put inside a 4 liter, with no side fill. Pretty much the same result, but I have 3 more to harvest where I filled the gap in with lava rock. +Those 3 (pics tomorrow) are > 2xs the bud size/weight. Case closed on party cup grows

Clones and LED also doing great. Phoenix probably has 7-10 more days

Clones and nearing the end for the mother (Phoenix). This BrandX strain (WH X WW pollinated with Bubblegum) is great for small tent height. She is ~ 45". Likely to produce 2" ozs when dried. Smell is delicious. That said this is an F1, so other expressions are likely. BUT, I pollinated her (one low branch) with same strain male- buns in the oven:biggrin:

Looking to develop a modified drip system so that all the nutes from each feed cycle get inside the APs. Hoping to combine lp misting via drip ring for more spray over the top rocks. That would minimize channeling Anybody? Looking at Hydro Galaxy 6" rings, waiting to hear what diameter the inlet is.
