Man, I couldn't be happier right now - watching you adjust a bit and still make the ladies go to work for you. I'm so glad you're experience with the mix hasn't been a disappointment!

Seeing this thread really just lights a fire under me...motivates me to keep at it - sincerely, thank you!

When it comes to organics - just remember - everything in those chem bottles is designed to mimic the actions of a natural substance / occurrence in nature.

Gonna have to chop these girls probably no later than 65 days - exactly 2 weeks. Can possibly* 'em go to 67 days, but then the chop has to happen, regardless of how close they are to finishing.

Though, I could get smokable bud off of 'em right now, just hoping they swell fat in these next couple weeks.

Took a few pics today.

May I ask why they must come down on day 67?
They look very nice by the way.

That`s 1 weird ass mutated limb on da blue cheese Bro.....Looks like in spite of problems early on , yas`ll at least have some decent nuggage outta the deal huh ?......now......

Every fan leaf with a stem can go , just don`t rape em all at once......even in late flower....do it over a few days , and let the plants start cannibalizing themselves of what looks to be a pretty good amount of stored N left in em.......and...

Getting rid of all the green ass fans now will help guaranteed.....anyways.....

Good luck on yer next project , so.... Set goals and make shit happen....

Peace....DHF.....:ying:.....

Yo frank, not sure where you are right now in life with all of its ups and downs, but I tell ya, if you ever get that off the ground and running properly - you've pretty much set the bar for me when it comes to feeding the plants. I *LOVE* the NSPB and guarantee you I'd be a regular customer. So I gotta say thank YOU for showin' me how easy organics can really be.

I'd agree that there's pros and cons of both organics and chems, but.... if you're looking for something long term... organics is definitely the way to go. chems, you can fix a mistake pretty easy, simple as flushing and re-dosing. Fixing human error in a well-amended organic soil is a little bit tricker... but if you're monocropping a known cut, you can dial in the *PERFECT* mix...... but... with that NSPB... there's not much dialing to do other than to figure out how strong to mix it.

IMO - NSPB + some kinda drain to waste is pretty much the ultimate combination. I wanted to get blumats, but after reading bobble's review on them, I think I'd be happier with pump and drip.

well done SmokinErb:tiphat:

Thanks, bro! Good to see ya stoppin' in

Ya see, I got a baby 'bout to be born, due any day now, just waitin' for the old lady to pop. First born son :dance013:

But yea, the future mother-in-law and her sister are coming to visit at the end of the month, wanna have the hang dry part over with before they get here so I can have my tent down and plants in bags/jars depending.

Could probably take 'em both right now and have some decent smoke, I'd just miss out on some swelling.

What up freds!

Had all sorts of headaches early on, but it got easier as flower came on and I had more ability to control my environment a little. But yea, the whole point in this goal was to fill up my stash jar a little. Didn't spend much on this grow - just bought some 1x2 furring strips for a weak frame - 75 cents each - had the rest on hand.

Got raided a while back and only recently got off parole, took a little break from the forums - this place is full of quality growers, and I'm competitive by nature. If y'all can do it, I can do it. Just takes the dedication and the drive to accomplish goals. I get obsessive about shit and wanna make sure its done right. So yeah, wanted to avoid the temptation while I handled my legal shit....

and now my legal shit is handled. time to handle this growin' shit. i got the goals, I got the drive, still got a lot to learn, but like you say - the learnin' is in the doin'

as for defoliation.... i've been defoliating, just not quite like you say to. I'll try out the "little bit every day" method. I usually give 'em 3-4 trim sessions, removing a fair amount of leaves each time. They've had 2 trim sessions so far. Been slowly taking off the last ones. Usually see one or two every time I go in there that I notice blocking something off, so I clip it. Come harvest day, they'll be bare except for the sugar leaf before I even chop.

ya that branch on the blue cheese.. looks like the FLATSTEM thing that happens to some plants.. ive seen it happen .. just usually that bud is wierd and doesnt yield nearly as well as ud think.. such a fat stem usually in the buds.

I believe it's called fasciation, there's a thread about it right here:

http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=251782

But yeah, the general agreement is that they're better culled, but.... some people do like 'em. Tom Hill says the mutation doesn't affect quality, but rather other undesirable traits, such as the stem and excessive leaf...

so.. i figured id keep it and just see how it does. its cool lookin, ive never seen it before, and i should get enough nugs to hold me over until my next harvest if I get right on it.

One thing I've been thinking about lately....

Is there any advantages or disadvantages to drying your soil out before harvesting vs continuing to water up until harvest day?

I see it two different ways - on one hand, drying the soil out would dry the plant out, speeding up the process....

But.... wouldn't that be comparable drying the herb quickly, as opposed to a long, slow dry, degrading the quality of the final product?

comin' up on harvest time now and tryin to decide if I should dry the pots out the last 3-5 days.

ive had this thought before and never found a real answer. I've always just harvested when it was time. I try not to water the day before I know I'm gonna harvest though.

I figure about the same. I don't mean dry 'em out to the point of wilting and making harvesting a PITA, I mean...

I *know* I have to water every other day. If I don't, the plants will start wilting on the bottom come day 3. So I'd probably time it to water 2 days before harvest and harvest early on the 3rd day before wilt sets in.

I searched all over with no real answer here, guess all there is to do is experiment and find out. I could probably water one the day before harvesting, and water the other 2 days before. But... different strains, different bud... not really a very effective experiment.

Also, on an unrelated note, I heard from karma recently, he states there's only 3 main phenos of that D Kush (chem d x sfv og) so... I should be able to grab a pack of something else (jack o nesia, probably) and do a pheno hunt with that as well.

Still tryin to figure out my budget for building this cab. Really wish I had dabbled in carpentry more, if anyone here is a construction kinda guy, I'd love to get some feedback on building materials.

Thinkin' about using some 2x2's for the frame. Plywood on the outside walls, stick some 1.5" foam board in between the 2x2's and tack up some orca film for the inside.

Would I be better off with 2x4's? That just leaves a really thick wall cavity and I'm not going to use the batts or roll insulation. I figure with 2x2's I'd be maximizing my inner diameter without sacrificing much strength.

Also, how would I go about strengthening the frame? I usually put angled pieces in the corners for support, but... the insulation sheet will take up the entire cavity. Or will the plywood on the outside be sufficient?

I'm officially a daddy. The love of my life gave birth to my firstborn son this afternoon :)

Harvesting later this week regardless of how far along they are. Will take some pics of each before and after trimming. Then its on to the new build.

Final pics before the chop. They've been hang drying for a few days now, due to be in the jars any time. Then I'll start construction on my new cab. Also, ordered new beans, but first..... the final pics:
