Havn't heard that since I was a child (carter has pills) !! And thats been a few years, I'm 54 now, I just got a kick out of it. To all that make the trip this year, have a great time and be safe!!

A note to all those travelers (and gap year kids) who are hoping to spend the holidays and the turn to next year blazin' with legal marijuana in Amsterdam; your time for fun may be limited at the Dutch government looks to crack down on the sale of pot to tourists. It's all part of an effort to curb crime, reports Reuters, and also because the Netherlands just isnt' fond of their reputation as a hotspot for drug tourism and all the seediness that creates.
"The heart of the problem is crime and disturbances surrounding the sale. We have to go back to what it was meant for: local use for those who would like it," says Ivo Opstelten, the Minister of Public Safety and Justice.
The Dutch towns that border neighboring countries like Germany and Belgium are already beginning to restrict use and Maastricht has the right to refuse foreigners entrance to their "coffeeshops." As a result, the cities have seen a wane in traffic jams (by those driving in for a toke) and crime. For now, Amsterdam's 223 "coffeeshops" remain open to everyone, as the possession of up to 5 grams (0.18 oz) of cannabis or hash is allowed in the Netherlands. There's no date announced yet when that will change to "...as the possession by locals of up to 5 grams...," but rest assured we'll let you know when and if it does.
