Is this thing on? *taptap*

So, fudge. I've got my pants down and y'all're lookin'. Really shit the bed this time 'round with the on-deck circle.

Waited too long to pop seeds. Now the seeds won't pop. :wallbash: So here's what we're cookin' with:

One Nightmare Diesel (#1) mom - about 18-20" tall, bushier'n all getout.

One Golden Goat start, about 10-12" tall or so.

And a random assortment of just-rooted cuts - some Chemdawg, some Strawberry Diesel x Chemdawg.

Finally got off my ass and took some cuts of the ND1 today. I think I oughtta get on some sort of regularly-scheduled rotation here.

I ran the StrawD x Chemdawg once before, .. Just a teeny teeny single-cola SOG-type deal. Seemed to produce quite well, but it wasn't my most favorite effect. Seemed to kind of lack personality. (No offense, youknowwho :tiphat: Hope your feelings aren't hurt :cathug: )

So while the StrawD x Chemdawg will certainly do in a pinch (will more than DO), I'd like to be raising something else while those flower.

I think the idear is to get on a 4-4-4 routine - Four finishing flower, four starting flower, four veggin', harvest four, start four, rinse, lather, repeat.

:dunno:

Currently using the flower cab to veg 'em. It provides instant access to the blumats, without me having to run the line from the cab into the tent, or set up a separate rez for the tent.

I put in shelves. And a new approach up top next time 'round - going to trellis 'em, rather than tie 'em back to the screenishness.

No excitement here - just cuts. All ND #1.

Rooted cuts, a random assortment of ChemDawg and some Strawberry Diesel x ChemDawg. Ignore the biggest'n on the R...

picture.php

...because it's the Goat, which is more'n rooted. Looks a little more yellow'n it is.

My ace in the hole for this next run, Nightmare Diesel #1. The last #1 that went in was about 16" tall, half as bushy. Ended up a 36-40" beast who gamme 3.75 oz. This'n is easily 18-20" and more nutso-er.

Done and done! Everyone got a sprinkling of Mykos during their transplant, and watered with Orca.. I'll be keeping up with the Orca intermittently throughout the next 10 days or so.

Thanks AD! :tiphat: The truth is that the room vacillates between tidy and a disaster - I tend to get it tip-top, and then slowly the organization erodes to give way to getting outta there quickly, which means not putting shit back, putting shit back halfassed, etc..

It's no coincidence that the room is fairly cleanish right now and it's the beginning stages of a run. Check back in a month, let's see how clean I can keep it. ;)

you gonna roll through with this thread or start a new one for this grow?

Been kickin around ideas, im gonna stick with the 600's for my vert. i believe they run more efficient than the 4's and they were not that hard to cool.

Gonna try to modify a t5 system to veg around instead of under

got some space jack, oatmeal caramel, kings kush, blue raz, lavender, Headband, to clone very soon and a few other gardens to visit this week:woohoo:

Super stoked to post up a new begining!!!!

That's a good question - I figured I'd just leave it in this thread, 'cause I'm lazy like that, but maybe I'll start a new one once the excitement begins. After all, once I throw the new 600 in there, there'd be no truth-in-advertising in re: my thread title, no?!

Got some new crap.

Picked up 12 lbs of crab meal. The good news about my lousy next-round timing is that I'll have time to mix this in to the, err, mix.

Also picked up a 600 W dimmable ballast, USHIO HPS bulb.

And the bestest part? I've been noticing these damned fungus gnats (mentioned way earlier), .. And my [old] dunks didn't work, just added SM90 into the mix, but still noticing these flying fuckers..

Got a sponge full'a 5 million predatory nematodes - to be added shortly. :D

Creepy crawlers for the critters.

Reminder - dirt mix

Reminder - dirt mix

2.4 cu ft FFOF
2 cu ft ProMix HP
48 lbs EWC
2.4 C diatomaceous earth
1.8 C greensand
1.2 C Blood
3 C Bone
3 C Kelp meal
2.4 C lime

..And some recent additions:

A sprinkle of Indonesian guano

A dash of bloodmeal

A lovin'ful of crab meal

A pinch of alfalfa meal

Man I hope it works for you. It's been a while since I researched all that stuff, but I remember the crab shell has chitin which makes aphids disintegrate when they eat it. The EWC and neem seed repels them, they don't like to eat it and they bolster the plant's own pest resistance.

Yellow sticky traps will get rid of the flyers, while sm-90 wipes out the eggs/larva in the soil . Or buy a sundew from home de pot, or wherever sells plants in your area. They would be with the venus fly traps as they are also bug eaters. Look like they are covered in trichromes, so they are easy to spot ;).

I had the yellow traps up last time too, and while they definitely collected a decent amount of 'em, it didn't wipe 'em out. (In conjunction with the [old] dunks)

Actually, once I took everything down and got in there to clean out the room, I found what seemed to be the most effective killer of these things - the fan.. ?

It was friggin' covered in the fuckers - like someone dumped a container of ground black pepper all over the white fan. Dead critter city.

I'm a little concerned that they could be winged root aphids, and not just fungus gnats, ..I was reading a thread 'round here just this AM, got me thinking.. I don't think that's the case, but I'm also not entirely convinced. If, after the nematodes, there are still things buzzing around, then I may go into phase II of my concern-ed-ness.

Ha - back to the yeller traps, those things are like an exposed, live wire, dangling in the garden. I avoid 'em at all costs - That shit is like cartoon-style sticky. I accidentally bumped one into a wall, and now that spot on the panda looks like it's been smeared with vaseline and sprinkled with dead critters.

The key is to use the yellow traps with sm-90, and not those iffy dunks . Nematodes should knock them out in a few weeks though too. Agreed on the ridiculous stickiness of those traps, but hey they work and iso alcohol cleans up the glue ;)

On the RA subject, are you experiencing any nute def? cal/mag and potasium in particular.

Honestly, I don't think I have any RA symptoms. Everyone is chugging along - new cuts are rooting & starting to take off, other cuts are rooting, seedlings are seedlinging..

But critters make me nervy.

I think I'm just being a hypochondriac. :)

I bet it's RA... RA fly toward the light, die on impact, and would be surrounding the muffin fan on the floor if that's the fan you're speaking of... Gnats avoid the light and get caught on the sticky traps and in your buds. Just speaking from experience... And your ND definitely didn't have gnats stuck in the buds like some cherry AK47 I sampled recently... I have some nugs still I can show you so you know what a gnat looks like...

Good stuff bobble. Here's the funny thing.

In terms of symptoms, visually, nobody had any up-top issues going on.

In terms of performance that's a tough'n. It seemed to me like the Old Grandad really underperformed. But, the ND 1 was the muthafuckin' BOMB in the yield.

Dunno. Let's just go organically nuclear and kick some ass.. :dunno:

Hey all

I've been slackin' in terms of posting anything meaningful or constructive here lately. I have to say, the fact that I've shot myself in the foot for the next round in terms of immediacy has taken some enthusiasm out of the sails, as they say.

Anyway. I'm newly resigned to the fact that I'm just going to have to hold my damned horses for a few weeks here and do some veggin' and remodelin'.

In the meantime, I've been taking the time to do some housekeeping. During the last grow, I saw an undeniable number of flying critters in the growroom. I figured they were just fungus gnats - wasn't too concerned as a damage-inflicting deal, but thought of 'em more as pests. Didn't see too much adverse effect on the plants (maybe), ..

And now I'm thinking (as are others, all smarter than I, it's worth noting) that it might be winged root aphids.

So I've taken a few steps here. For starters, I've amended future dirt with crab shell meal. Here's a smidgen from the manufacturer (whose other products I use - their fish hydrolysate is the bomb):

Crab shell meal

Neptune's Harvest Organic Crab Shell is an excellent dry organic source of NPK, Calcium (23%) and Magnesium (1.33%). It will also help with nematode and fungus problems. Here's why: Crab Shell is high in Chitin (Kite-en), which promotes the growth of Chitin eating bacteria in the soil. The exoskeletons of fungus and nematode eggs are high in chitin. Crab Shell when added to the soil helps to create a hostile environment for the fungus and nematodes by feeding the biological life that eats chitin and chitin based organisms. Crab Shell should be applied in the same way we recommend our Kelp Meal to be applied.

And from another source about crab shell meal:

A good fertilizer and substitute for bone meal, due to its high concentration of calcium. Crab shell is also high in chitin, which promotes the growth of chitin eating bacteria. The exoskeletons of fungus and nematodes eggs, as well as the jaw structures of some garden pests like the Japanese beetle grub are high in chitin. Crab shell, when added to the soil, helps create a hostile environment for the fungus and nematodes by feeding the biological life that eats the chitin based organisms. It is not classified as a fungicide or a nematocide.

Hopefully will help with some of these cal-hungry bitches I got too.

Also, I've recently added SM-90 into the reservoir for all-time watering, at the rate of 5 ml/gal. (I think, right _D? Or was it 2 ml?)

AND. The most recent kickdown from the store, with perfect timing:

Just watered these in yesterday. Hopefully y'all can read the text in the second photo - it's the destructions on how to apply.

FWIW, the last time I sprayed with Azamax (roughly every 2 weeks), I gave the soil a halfway decent sprayin' too.

I've decided that the day that nothing starts flying around after I shake the pot - that'll be a good day. :) I used to have a tolerance for 'em like "Oh, it's just one or two," but not no mo.
