Analog's LED

Legal California Medical user. I have had Crohn's Disease since at least 1974.

This space is 15 inches x 15 inches = 1.5 square feet. 4 feet high.

the LED light is a Kessil 350 Magenta, 72 watts from the wall. It is 10" above the center of the canopy.

Currently there are three Bubblegums in flower, air-pots, coco-perlite.

Supplementary DIY LED under construction, awaiting delivery of more parts.

Looks good, analogue. The Kessil appears to agree with those girls! I'm anxious to see what you get with the DIY project.

Love bubblegum. One of my two favorite strains, the other being white rhino.

Awesome, i just put some bubble gum into flower. its a ranky dank plant, those look pretty good for being under one small light like that.

Seems to me that you could have that light a lot closer to your subjects! Maybe you've got it that high for a wider light footprint. Love the airpots myself... been using them for a couple years now.

Hey Rives. I think you are right. Its hard to quantify what I see subjectively, but the leaves don't seem to be under as much stress.

Shouldn't take long to glue and hook-up the supplemental LEDs once they arrive.

Down the road we'll convert Veg to LED. RAPID Led is getting some new stock soon.

:woohoo:right on.

:thank you: and it feels really different, growing with LED :D.

Got the light a little closer now. And I dig the air-pots .

This supplementary array will bring my flower cabinet up to 96 watts from the wall.

assembly time: less than an hour

Four modules of 2 x 3w Cree XP-E Neutral Whites driven at 700mA

i love the fact that you've got a kill a watt meter with such a small setup. How hot is that aluminium getting? could it handle a third led in the center?

I think that the most efficient grows will probably from these micro grows where they are really pushing the limits of just enough led's.

I have a question for you.. how much head does that Kessil produce? I know this is going to be a hard thing to quantify, but I need to have a supplemental light for my closet that generates very little heat.. appreciate your help..

oh btw, would it be possible to pull the plants out and get some photos of them when they're not all cramped up. Are those one liter air pots back there?

It gets body-heat warm (so "not very hot"). I haven't done a 12 hour test yet. It would be prudent of me to get a heat gun to measure junction temperature (where diode meets heat sink).

Yes I can/could add more LEDs. The driver I bought is 25 watts capable - and that's almost at capacity. No problem to get another driver.

Hi MKG. The Kessil 350 I am using - the temperature at canopy level is averaging 3 degrees Farenheit above the ambient temperature of the room the cabinet is in. It's barely even warm to the touch after a daily light cycle completes.

For what it is worth, the Kessil optics are 60 degrees, slightly diffused (67 approximate). The emitted pattern spread is circular and at a height of 10 inches you get a 15" circle. So there's a trade off for coverage but for me it's perfect as my PAR reading at 8 inches distance was 950-1000. I've since moved the light to 10" away to emulate the PAR readings that Phaeton is growing with.

Sure no problem - I'll add picts later this evening.

Yes, one liter air pots in the back, a .8 gallon air pot in the front.
After these 3 plants are completed I'll be trying the largest air-pot I can fit in there, about 4 gallons or so.

looking good

I love small cabs.. keeping it real

Thank you, This little cab has good kharma.

kickass !!! :lurk: :joint:

You're too kind.

some shots.

Morphology of the plant is not strikingly different than what I am accustomed to seeing. This plant - i have had it for almost 5 years - does not stretch much.

The 2 smaller plants (49 days) went into flower after being pruned the day before. Additionally I was unprepared (even though I "knew") for how low the canopy temperatures initially became (rectified) . Some things you have to learn in person.

The .8 gallon air-pot is a common example of what usually goes transpires here (4 of those .8 gallon air-pots will fit in my cabinet), she didn't stretch much, and is at day 17 of 12/12.

Nice stuff, analogue, didn't know you were rocking the Kessil.
With the heat, I'm down to just my 3 LED units over two plants a wk. away from being done. Happy how the LED's are working w/o the HPS.

Nice work on the DIY LED! :good:

When it gets hot the CMH's get turned off, gets the temp from 7 over ambient to 3.

Took a light reading with the CMH and LED and then took a reading with each alone just to see the difference.

The CMH puts out over half the heat (800 watts) but only contributes 1/3 the light, not a good trade at all. I thought they did better.

This is high energy testing but turning off lights from too much ambient heat seems to be common and I happened to point a light meter at the table.
LED wins this comparison, 714 watts versus 800 watts.
