Hey shogun, what part of the set up is noisy mate? The fan or the noise of the air being sucked in through the carbon filter? As each will need a different but similar solution :)

You can silence carbon filters by using a large box and insulation matting, if you search on 420 I saw it on their a few years ago and it worked fine supposedly.
You can also look up "leepy box" for your fan which is basically wrapping your fan with ducting cut to the right size on each end, wrapped in cling film, put in a box larger than it passing the ducting out of holes cut each side of the box, then taped shut, completely wrap the box in duct tape all over, using sharp point make a hole in the box to insert the nozzle of a can of expanding foam until fullish allowing for expansion, then tape over hole fooking quick and leave to dry. Hey presto quieter fan. Or you can search TD silent mixed flow fan and they are nice and quiet.

Alright speedemon it the sound of the air if you see my last post there is a pic of a primair controller click it its a video..i was thinking
of doing this...

carbon - silencer -fan - silencer....acoustic ducting

i dont no if it will work...or maybe i should get the cash for a td silent

Hi,

Yes your planned additions of silencers will work. Ensure you use solid ones and not the flexible type as they could leak smell.

Youll find that a length of duct between your carbon and fan will reduce noise. A carbon strapped straight onto a td silent 8 inch made the fan 16 db louder than when a couple of metres of duct are installed between.

You will nt be able to use the prime air controller with a Tds fan. You would need a transormer type controller for them.

On listening there is a fair bit of fan noise there. Wrapping the fan may not do much do to the fact you have the fan in the loft and it sounds as tho the sound is being transmitted thro the duct work.

So I think silencers will help, but ultimately you need to change your fan. My 8 inch Tds when in the tent running straight from carb thru blockbuster shades was alot quieter than yours is currently.

Revert to open reflectors and add some duct work and the loudest thing now is the oscillator or the tank dripping.

Alright Herb i am working on getting the cash for a 6ins td silent
as i spent all my cash on a new adjustible digi ballast..as i think the old cannatronics ballest needed changed as its 11 tears old..lol..
so i am going to get a 6ins td silent from just fans..116.00 pounds
thanx for the info herb...Shogun

Yeah that will work mate if its the airflow causing the sound, I use a solid silencer for both my out takes but I have mine at the end, so it go's Carbon filter, 1 meter duct, fan, 1 meter of duct and silencer.
I agree with herbs though save for a td silent fan mate :) and remember the silencers are long and quite heavy so know where and how your going to mount it first :) Hope you sort it mate :tiphat::ying::ying:

cheers speedemon i was going to get a td silent but the snow here is that bad traffic cant get here so i think i will have to cancel the grow or take a chance without a carbon filter...:yoinks:
