My cat bit me yo! Calling all cat whisperers.

I've got one of these but luckily, she's a sweetheart and never scratches or bites. She's more like a dog in a feline body. Oh and she loves baths! LOL

if a cat rolls over and offers a belly, you're the boss, period...

it trusts you. ;)

absolutely false!

Dog appeasement behaviors evolved because dogs live in packs, hunt in packs, do everything in packs.

Cats do not hunt in groups, they only get together for social activity, and in much lower densities (naturally, not when kept together by food). They have not evolved the same appeasement behaviors, and anyone who thinks a cat on its back has submitted is asking for claws or teeth if they are not very close to the cat.

When a cat fight another cat, one of the two may very start on its back - not a sign of submission. It's a fighting posture.

The darker cat was a real biter when we got him. One day he bit straight the fleshy part of the hand in between the pointer finger and thumb. I popped his ass with a rolled up newspaper. Never had another problem with him again and has been my best buddy ever since.

ok, you are correct, my words were chosen incorrectly. let me rephrase my point...

if a cat allows you to pet it's belly without clawing or biting it trusts you.

i did not mean a cat was exhibiting dog appeasement behaviors. i was only going by my own experience with cats and the level of trust the cat must have before allow you to touch it on the belly or paws or any other places that really piss a cat off...

yes but someone other than you may get the same posture from the cat, but might also get attacked if they are too forward. If they just stick to touching the head, there is much less chance of biting/clawing.

absolutely...

i've got a cat that started nipping at about age 7 or 8. doesn't break the skin, but does it to let you know don't touch me there anymore. then she turns right around, starts purring and rubbing on the hand she just bit, lol ...

she very rarely does it to me, but will do it to others. she's a lover though. she wants to be petted and paid attention too. will play fetch just like a dog too...

with all that said, she has never nipped any one just rubbing her head. ;)

I'm thinking it may make a big difference if you own one cat or two? Having 2 cats it seems now at age 7-8 they still play once in a while. It's usually with each other.

I agree from what I've seen in there fights laying on the back is a good fighting spot. My female will be on her back, the male will jump on her and go for her throat (not aggressive just playing) and the female will start thumping him in the head with her back legs, its some funny shit. They do a lot of fighting when they have had some home grown cat nip.

They sometimes let me rub there belly's but usually it turns into the above scenario they start thumping my hand with there back legs and nipping playfully.

They love home grown cat nip. I know lots of cats don't like it, but they seem to really enjoy it. I recommend growing some if your cat likes it. Watch out though starting growing a single small plant about 5 years ago, now we get 10 bushes that are like 4 feet in diameter. Shit spreads like wildfire!

Haha no when I posted the title for some reason Jesse Pinkman came to mind. No idea why, other than that Breaking Bad is one of my favorite shows. Speaking of which... time to break out the dvr for the latest episode. Peace yo!

I used to have a cat who would always come around when i was smoking. He didn't much like to be handled by most people (he'd put up with it from me, to a point.) He just wanted to sit in the circle as an equal.

I used to keep a jar of catnip next to my herbs and when I would smoke, I'd put some out on a lid for him so we could get high together.

Ever have someone scratch your back in the same spot for way to long? Starts out feeling good, by the end you're like "enough!"

Cats can't say "enough" so they say it with teeth. On another cat, the skin is very thick and covered with a thick layer of fur. Cats can nip each other without drawing blood. He wasn't necessarily trying to hurt you, he was simply saying "enough."

this picture is when my cat was still semi slender....hes put on a few pounds since then..

hes one of the most chill mannered cats ive had...he never attacks humans but sometimes he will play too hard and leave some deep scratches...almost certain hes got some "maine coon" in him...one of his nicknames is the coon baby because he is as big as a racoon...most of his names are fat related..like cheeseburger, fatboy, mcjiggles, baby seal....when he walks his fat jiggles back and forth so we also call him scuttlebutt...

he also smells like crisp 100 dollar bills......swear to god hes a money cat. the fatter he gets the fatter my money grows.....before i bought him i was barely scraping by making a few grand a month...when i bought him the money started pouring in no joke....

Wow your cat looks almost exactly like my cat. The only difference is his belly has a bit more white. Aside from that it's exact.
