Colorado Growers Thread

I think it lives up to the hype - or at least, nothing new has come around with as much hype as the Banners had, which is the usual sign that it's just a trend, IMHO

Hype, or drama, whatever it was. It's a good cut, still have it in my garden despite all the dumb bullshit drama that eventually came from it. I like it and the 5, only smoked the 5 though, I've never grown it (5) out.

You'll enjoy it beta, the OG (supposedly the Ghost cut) really comes through in the 3, with a hint of strawberryishness. (Is that even a word? Haha)

I just got word that a friend will possibly be bringing me back a clone of Bruce Banner #3 from their trip to Denver. Any Coloradans care to chime in on whether or not this cut lives up to the hype? Keep up the good work, neighbors!

Tell ya that oil it produces is the strongest I've had... definitely A++ material for this.

Didn't overwhelm in the odor/flavor category... in nug form that is. I would easily reach for a jar of diesel... and doubt I'd really reach for the banner that much if I had other choices too... though maybe for a bedding within a mixed joint... another strain to add flavor that is, ya know?

Not like I've killed her off though... ;-)

Talkin the 3 here...

I smoked 5 bong hits the other day of five different varieties and it seemed like they canceled each other out. Very unhigh for 5 bong hits

killer queen
grand daddy p
blueberry
dc kush
some sativa ??

Two questions:

1. Has anyone grown out the Blackwater OG from Cali Connection? Rumor is she's a pain in the ass, but I wanna double check... Also, does she taste like an OG, or is she purple flavored?

2. Does anyone in the Front Range area know where I can track down a cut of Casey Jones? It's the favorite strain of a friend and he hasn't been able to find one for his garden.

I've got a verified cut of the JoeShmoe Casey...Good luck finding her, she wasn't easy at all to source, this particular one came from far far away...

There is a guy on CL that is offering to sell clones of Casey Jones, but it sounds like he wants a deposit or to sell it unrooted.

Was at a dispensary last week that had CJ and it didn't look or smell very good at all but neither did their chem d haze or just about everything else I looked at.

Oh yeah, thats a GREAT place to source clones...

And then you're surprised that MMC herb sucks? Really??? :D

Hey now - no need to be snooty! I've gotten good cuts from both Craigslist and MMCs (but not AMAZING ones, to be fair).

Budgood - PM me if there's any chance in hell of you passing along that Casey in exchange for anything...

Not being snooty, just honest. MMCs/CL are hardly the places to find rare dank genetics...

merlot, I'm sure it will, about to flower some here soon...Pics will be coming.

All those bruce banner cuts went through MMCs once upon a time - so did Mr Dank's Golden Goat for a very brief spell... Generally - you're right - it's shit - but it's like collecting anything - you search around enough, among the right people, at the right time, and there are always some diamonds in the rough. I collect antique books, too - I go to every fucking used book store & antique store I pass - generally, pure garbage - but 4 or 5 times a year, I'll find something completely mindblowing--finding a first edition of Duncan's Freemasonry in a random hole-in-the-wall used book shack in New Jersey was way less likely that pulling a Pre '98 Bubba from an MMC with good connects, but that shit happened :)

As for Craigslist, I know one guy in Denver who buys every seed drop he can, grows em out, and sells a few dozen cuts off each plant. Obviously not clone-only elites, but a lot of quality gear - I'm running some of his White Dawgs, Grandoggy Purps, & Grandaddy Haze right now. Are they super-rare? Ehhh - not really - each one comes from packs of seeds that were probably held by 50-100 growers and then cloned out, but they're fire for sure.

In general, though - speaking about right now, I posted here last week about how dispensary cuts are the best way to get mites, mold & shit genetics.

And in the rare department, you can go to a few MMCs right now and buy beans off a Triangle x Afghani #1 IBL cross. We put out less than 30 packs of 6 beans each, but they're out there - some of them possibly still sitting on shelves.

not sitting on any shelves. i bought up as much of that rectangle as i could. also bought up the ghost train. eep :tiphat:

as for the dude that buys seed drops, and cuts clones. yeah they aren't super rare, but you got figure that 50-100 growers that have it are 50-100 worldwide. in denver, i doubt too many people bought the granddoggy fems from csg on seedbay. hell most growers i know don't know about seedbay.

And the cool thing is he's in with CSG so he gets pre-releases and testers before the fems are released (yup - he's holding some nice CSG males right now :) )

Yeah, mostly just people running clones, makes sense, though. You got X amount of lumens, and you already know what this cut does.
Just looking for phenos costs a lot, but actually breeding isn't cheap either...
And if you seed a crop like a buddy of mine accidentally did :(
We're looking at it as a happy mistake, though. The female was one of my bottom bitches and the male was an exotic sativa crossed with indica.
Opportunity cost has been high for me this last year doing pheno selection and popping beans, and playing around with all the different hydro.
But finally worth it. Got a nice one off the Internets, and I gets to keep it all to myself and friends for the moment.
Realized that it was back to dirt for me, and organic all the way forward (halfway there right now).
But finally getting a method to the madness, and learning about the ART of pheno selection is priceless.
:blowbubbles:

I'd been super committed to dirt, but got frustrated with my yields - now I'm running an OBBT setup - we'll see how it does! Theoretically, it's combining the best of both worlds - all organic, full of microlife, with a moving reservoir and bonus oxygen for the roots (and plenty of actual soil mix, too!)

Just for reference, what was your yield that was disappointing?

I'm just curious where I fall.... I'm getting about .8g/watt.

If I grew higher yielding strains, it would be higher. I grow for potency.

incredi...how is that grandoggy? i ran a tester pack of csg chemwreck, and ended up with one pheno that was amazing. the others were nice.

rednick. that cross sounds interesting. what was the female that got pollinated? also, pheno hunting isn't too expensive. you just need to find the right system to run. i run coco and peat handwatered drain to waste.. so easy because you can feed the plants individually, so if one needs more/less that's what they get. less pathogen breakouts..also i use hydro nutes, so i kind of get the best of both worlds. there are time's though when i think to myself DAMN if this whole room was that one pheno! i woulda killed it.. i never am disappointed. just got to know what quality seeds to buy.

don't get me wrong though. i do have commercial production rooms running all one pheno, but i'll always have atleast a room dedicated to pheno hunting. it's like pokemon cards for grown ups i swear.
