Signs that a collapse is under way.

When the Government prints more money to get out of debt, you know the end is coming. What's scary is most Americans assume that Grocery stores will always have food. Americans have become spoiled and out of touch with reality. Look what happens on black friday. You have people trampling over each other just to save a few bucks on some cheap crap they dont need from china. Now think when the grocery store's are running out of food? They have done study's and it will take the average american 5 days with out food to start killing each other for it. How many Americans now how to store their food when the power goes? How bout cook food with no power?

Not trying to change the subject but...

It wasn't so much the 911 attacks as it was the response. Sending a whole damn army after a rouge gang of criminals was only as good as getting OBL. Going after Saddam was senseless.

I forget who wrote the recent book that claims we spent 3 trillion in Iraq. What we're spending on DHS gives insult to injury.

OBL tried to wreck the US economy with a few measly attacks. He probably accomplished his mission, just didn't happen in his lifetime.

Another sign: The change in sexual politics.

We see this already with married couples that hate each other, but due to the economy are forced to remain married.

When wealthy men are overtly dating, or in a relationship with girls that are 15-16.(Disregard if you are in Europe)

Peoples expectations of what they thought they 'deserved' or were 'owed' was in check in the 70's.

Trust me when I say things were much worse (back then) then what we've experienced in recent years, people just didn't need all the shit they have today.

Wanna know why mom has to work?

Big(ger) house
2nd and or 3rd vehicles
Every little new electronic doo-hickey that comes down the pike

Did I also mention spoiling the shit out of brat kids who don't deserve it more often than not?

Yeah...that'll get mom working :dance013:

those parts weren't worse
but you could do serious jail time for small amounts of weed in many places, that was worse
still can today, but less so
we were just getting out of a war that hadn't gone well, and with a LOT of screwed up guys that really got fucked in vietnam
so there were bad things

I know what you're talking about, IPS. My folks lived through the depression and it affected their spending habits. They didn't necessarily spoil us as kids (mine sure didn't) but we learned to spend more anyway. I've cooled the jets over the last decade but I'm still not as frugal as my folks were.

Indeed.

Priorities...they haz them

Seriously though, I remember having vacation/christmas savings accounts i.e. physically having the money I was going to spend, or not spend.

How many years did people live on their plastic? How many would still,if they could?
Granted, this is what our parents had hoped for us...'better' lives.
Me thinks somethings got lost in the translation because all I want to do is go back to the 'ideal' of the 50's.

How fucking cliche' is that shit? Never thought I'd say the words...:ying:

Baby boomers going bust at the same time as the credit bubble pops. It's the intersection of demographics and economics.

Keynesian Bubbles. A paradigm built on the infinite expansion of credit. The theory doesn't take into account large swings in the population. Keynes said as much, but this isn't true Keynesian economics. Credit contraction is a natural over the course of time. One way or another.

Does anyone know roughly what percentage of the worlds food supply is grown in the USA? I find it amusing that these threads always focus on USA only, can you people say domino effect? And Canada and mexico = USA. In global shtf borders will become meaningless. Once the fighting for food starts and the world population is cut by 1/2 to 2/3 the rebuilding process can commence. Interesting times indeed.

Can anyone recommend a doc or movie that portrays a realistic economic crash.

There are tons of movies that show natural disaters, nukes etc, but I have not seen one that lays out a realistic economic crash.

On youtube check out a series called FutureStates ITVS.

If any of you are looking for a great date film, I suggest The Road.
Pigeon and rat would be a holiday.
At the very least start storing sprouting seeds and find a gravity water filter that suits your needs.
Cycling thru your survival gear is a very smart idea.

If The History Channel is right, you might as well have a 5th Ave apartment. Once the folks clear out, the animals will come.:)

when the fed stops printing money in favor of plastic...no matter how much money (currency) you possess it will be worthless! plastic will be traceable, currency not so much, so they have a leash on you (as well as an income), paper money becomes history, but not the debt you created.

when the food you can find is full of some genetically modified substance that your body becomes reliant on, then they can begin rationing. all small food plots prohibited.

schools become shelters for the displaced, displacing learning.

government forces hunt down peasants smuggling food to their families.

representatives of the 'people' are no longer elected but installed (presidents cabinet)...

the future is now, what can we show our kids?

...arm yourselves, plenty of ammuntion...
...put up lots of non-perishable foodstuffs...
...water, water, and some more water, potable water...
...source of heat...firewood, fuels...
...learn to grow food, any and all kinds appropriate to your area...
...have a plan...either to protect or to evacuate, and practice it until it is rote.
...form neighborhood protection groups...
...distrust any and all forms of authority...

imo, the empire is already falling headlong into obscurity...and we equated ourselves with the Roman Empire...

lotsa good thoughts on subject here....right tactics and ideas for dealing with standard economic "corrections".....next one wont be 'by the books'........wont be an economic collapse, will be a .... "1st-world" status collapse, at least, for USanians and asst. other satellite 1sters/nations....on the heavy end who the feck knows?

but heres the catch...WE'RE ALREADY IN THAT LIL ECONOMIC COLLAPSE.....as i said, not by the books. everything's slipping because the dollar game is up but it'll be milked to THE end b4 everyone says...."uncle"...cuz everything(fer now) rides the greenback....may not be so for ever and ever....imo...

signs? look for;

*sheer fecking madness - if an econo-colla is seriously coming.......more war/new false flag(son of Osama?) will happen b4 they let a full crash......there are muchoprofits in crash, but the bootstraps are janky and there aint no pullin' up after this next one. nedd energy for that.....alt.s need 10-20yr to come close, 10-20 yr in CURRENT paradigm = 100 yrs

*BAU.....no collapse..(as you see it..), just higher prices, more american idol, gas=5$, more unemp, 55mill on EBT........the great, exalted, wise,thiefers-of-oxygen "leaders" that have kept us from killing our selves, and them, for generations+ have an uncanny knack for devising new ways to oppress/profit/feed off of everyone they possibly can.....cunning, indeed.....so with that in mind, think of possibilities rather signs

there will be 2 possibilities for crash; controlled or uncontrolled. either could be as good/bad as the other...at least if it's 'controlled', they'll be profiting somehow and there will be play....uncontrolled is fukushima+floods+volcano+sunspots+WTFever eco-disaster==ALL AT ONCE.......hell, you only really need 2-3 of those at once, add in a lil israeli attack on iran/al qeada revenge/pirate sinking oil-tanker........throw in geo-politico with tsunamis and quakes..........

but, ive been saying this stuff for.....6 years now.....? still sucking O2....the beast will be ridden until the legs go snap

Signs that a collapse is coming.......

When Zimbabwe, the country that recently minted a $100 Trillion dollar note, tells you your currency is shit. Welcome to the Twilight Zone.

RBZ urges gold-backed Zim dollar New Zimbabwe
THE central bank says the country must consider adopting a gold-backed Zimbabwean dollar warning that the US greenback’s days as the world’s reserve currency are numbered.

Government ditched the Zimbabwe dollar in 2009 after it had been rendered worthless by record inflation levels and adopted multiple foreign currencies with the US dollar, the South African Rand and the Botswana being the most widely used.

Finance minister Tendai Biti says the country needs at least six months import cover and a sustainable track-record of economic growth, inflation stability and above 60 percent capacity utilisation in industry before the Zim dollar can be brought back into circulation.

However central bank chief, Dr Gideon Gono said the country should consider adopting a gold-backed currency.
“There is a need for us to begin thinking seriously and urgently about introducing a Gold-backed Zimbabwe currency which will not only stable but internationally acceptable,” he said in an interview with state media.

“We need to re-think our gold-mining strategy, our gold-liberalisation and marketing strategies as a country. The world needs to and will most certainly move to a gold standard and Zimbabwe must lead the way.”

Gono said the inflationary effects of United States’ deficit financing of its budget was likely to impact other countries to leading to a resistance of the green back as a base currency.

“The events of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis demand a new approach to self reliance and a stable mineral-backed currency and to me, Gold has proven over the years that it is a stable and most desired precious metal,” Gono said.

“Zimbabwe is sitting on trillions worth of gold-reserves and it is time we start thinking outside the box, for our survival and prosperity.”

this seems to be an example of what it takes for a country to contemplate going to gold backed currency
makes more sense if you mine gold to some extent
i'm not an optimist by a long shot, but it's going to take a lot of falling before the USA matches Zimbabwe

We'll be in Zimbabwe like craziness sooner than most people think ;)

Stores of food, cannabis, beer, wine, and water will serve us well in the not too distant future.

HINT HINT HINT
when NON MORMONS start thinking several years of stored food is a wise idea, you know we are close to a collapse ;)
