Hiya mooseknuckle

Yup, that's the right stuff and that's a decent price for a kilo.

You also need sulphate of potash which is under a fiver for a kilo at any garden centre.

thanks very much funky, thats a great help, sorry to be a pain, but as ive never used hammerhead, what is the dilutation rate and is it added weekly?,cheers

You add it from week 3 or 4 of flower depending on strain. Start at 0.5ml per litre and work your way up while reducing the base nutes.

I only live a short distance from Fargro. Perhaps I will have to pop along. I have a chilli farm so no worries getting bits.

Hydrotops have never actually stopped production. They just went back to only supplying their first store. Nu Green in Birmingham. Where in lies the problem as Nu Green will not ship.

Now I am just starting a small account to supply my growstore and hopefully a few of you guys if needed.

I will let you know in due coarse. He is just analysing my water atm.

And Stuppa has been using the Hydrotops range, Chaos. Here is a link

biOpOnic Bac tivator
Bactivator is 100% organic bio-stimulation and the natural
foundation of a healthy hydroponic system.
By recreating the conditions found in a good rich organic
topsoil Bactivator offers unrivalled bio-stimulation leading to
enhanced, compact vegetative growth and profuse flower and
fruit production.
Bio-stimulation in Nature can be observed in the symbiotic
relationship between beneficial bacteria and fungi and the root
system of their host plant.
The colonisation at the root zone by these beneficial
microbes directly stimulates cellular function and root growth.
Additionally, Bactivator provides a natural microbial defence to resist fungal infections by pre-emptive consumption of
their food sources, which in turn increases resistance to pest attack.
Bactivator is supplied as two components:
The first is a unique blend of over 40 carefully selected and
cultured beneficial microbes and fungi in a latent state specially
blended with amino acids and extracts of Fulvic and Humic acid.
The blend will remain in this state indefinitely.
The microbes in Bactivator attach themselves to the root hairs
and take the waste products from root functions and convert
them into usable plant nutrients to ensure nutrient and oxygen
assimilation remain at optimal levels at all stages of crop growth.

The second component is a liquid blend of plant hormones,
enzymes, amino acids and microbial catalysts designed to stimulate
root function and sustain the microbial culture during the initial
stages of inoculation.
A healthy, well developed root system will result in increased
nutrient assimilation and growth rate.
Bactivator should be added to the nutrient tank on a weekly
basis to maintain good microbial balance at the root zone.
Bactivator can be used in conjunction with any nutrient to
enhance biologic reactions at the root zone.
However, for the best result, we recommend using as part of
the HYDRoToPS biOpOnic, biOlOgic or Original Nutrient Programme.
If you have not used Bactivator before and you have a root
infection, we recommend double dosing with (activated)
microbes only.
Activate microbes (2 doses in 500ml tepid / 25°C water and
stand for 30 mins)
Add immediately to nutrient solution Important: do not add catalyst in this application.
For more in-depth information on hydroponic, soil and root
damage applications please refer to Bactivator User Guide Sheet,
supplied in every Bactivator tube.
Bactivator is a 100 percent Biologically Active Organic Product
for use in hydroponic and soil growing.
biOpOnic Bactivator is available in 10 & 25 dose packs.

Fully Formed Flowers - triple F

triple F has proven itself to be probably the best floral stimulation
product available for both traditional soil-based and hydroponic
growers. Developed and tested over several years, triple F
never fails to surprise even the most experienced of growers with
the results of using this 100% organic floral stimulant.
Rather than applying chemical morphogenic agents to induce
and enhance floral response triple F is based on the natural symbiosis
of carefully selected microbes with your plant’s root system.
This natural symbiosis triggers flowering site receptor signalling
and directly increases nutrient assimilation at the correct time to
produce profuse flowers and fruit, with Increases in yield of up to
50%. Full application instructions included in every pack. Suitable
for use in all methods of hydroponic and soil based growing.
Available in 125ml , 250ml and 500ml packs

Many, many thanks Herbalizor for this, very happy to hear this is back, or never really went away. Heard a few "funny" stories from the trade and believed he was gone. Got my last pack of FFF safely guarded and still got 10 tabs in Firefox open for various bacterial suppliers as I was so keen to get the stuff replicated...

On my travels, I also found these guys, http://www.vitalorganisms.com/ and was planning to look into their products, might even get inspired to do a Hazy Lady style Side by Side test of them all to help while away the long cold winter.

Nitenite Spidermite has been out for ages and its not worth it like most others...
Forbid is the only thing im gonna say....

humic and fulvic acids work better than worm liquid in hydro, in soil, the worm liquid is better as it's biologically active.

Spidermite Control, bought a 250ml pouch for 19.99 the other day and was surprised to see what's in it:

Only three simple ingredients so I reckon I can purchase the raw ingredients and make my own much cheaper. I got a 10ml bottle of Coriander oil for 1.99 on ebay, a litre of Triethanolamine for 6.99 and a litre of Sulhated Castor Oil for 3.49, I chose this sort of oil as it's highly soluble in water and used in many products as a carrier oil, I suppose I could have just got a 1.49 bottle of sunflower oil from the supermarket. So for about 13 quid I am gonna make just over a litre of spidermite spray (10ml Coriander Oil, 50ml Triethanolamine and 1 litre Castor Oil) and have almost a litre of Triethanolamine left. I might get some more Coriander Oil and try making a really cheap version using Sunflower Oil.

Hi funkey,

I was taking ur advice on the Hammerhead formula and today whislt shopping i found 5 kilo bags of P and K at 50% any good? and any idea how i work out ratio's per ltr etc

thanks great thread uk'ers

Sounds like Triple SuperPhosphate and Sulphate of Potash, those are both around 50%. You can indeed make your own version of Hammerhead using those. I'm not sure of how many grams per litre but the key is to have the K twice as strong as the P. There is a spreadsheet you can use to work out the precise grams per litre, I'll dig it out and find out for ya if I can. If both products are 50%, you could just do something simple like 75 grams of the P and 150 grams of the K, that would probably work out as something like 0-15-30.

I ran out of Growth Technology PH down (phosphoric acid) so decided to go with a cheaper alternative. I bought a kilo of Citric Acid for 2.50ukp which is enough PH down to last me a lifetime. Some info about Citric Acid:

Citric Acid is a sequestering (chelator) and stabilizing agent.

Citric Acid is a colourless crystalline organic compound and belongs to carboxylic acid family. It exists in all plants (especially in lemons and limes) and in many animal tissues and fluids. In biochemistry, it is involved in important metabolism of almost all living things; the Krebs cycle (also called citric acid cycle or tricarboxylic acid cycle), a part of the process by which living organisms (e.g. plants) convert food to energy. Citric acid works as a preservative (or as an antioxidant) and cleaning agent in nature. It is commercially obtained by fermentation process of glucose with the aid of the mold Aspergillus niger and can be obtained synthetically from acetone or glycerol.

The three carboxy groups lose protons in solution; resulting in the excellent pH control as a buffer in acidic solutions. Citric Acid also chelates metals (citrates chelate metal ions) and, for this reason, is an ideal organic chelator in nutrient formulations. C Integral Hydroponics, Ed 4 to see how it is used as a organic pH down agent.

It's just like powdered Ph down, you add it to your nute mix as needed to adjust PH, I just add a pinch and let my PH meter tell me if more is needed.
