smoking around children is whack if you ask me. also to fully understand this way of life isn't really fair to them as well. how many adults do stupid shit, ie have the wrong conversation with someone, then that person in custody blabs and before you know it, task force is kicking in your door.
all it take is one conversation with the wrong person, then that wrong person gets in trouble at school, blabs to principal, next thing you know CPS & Task Force at your door. just seems to unfair to place security issues with kids, thus I'll never fully understand why people take that risk, when they have the power to prevent it from being an issue.

You have not lived where I live because if you had lived in my little town then you would know that it is nothing but old hippies and all of us smoke at barbques, christmas get togethers, at breakfast, at lunch, at dinner, and in the car going somewhere. You have to make sure you crack the window though so that the kids don't get a contact. Wow I am amazed that you guys actually agree that it is ok to make it law that you can not smoke infront of kids. This is a different level of stupidity that i did not knew exists on this forum. The only way i would agree is if it were illegal to get drunk around kids. Which it never will. How in the fuck can you say it is wrong to smoke around kids, but ok to drink around them or smoke cigarettes around them? That is just plain idiotic. I again have to leave this thread because it is going no where. Again talk to anyone that is high up the chain with legalization, and they will tell you that 2012 is the year, and if this one does not pass it would still pass in 2012. Why because none of the high up supported this. They have spent no money on this. OH richard spent a mil or two. So fucking what. Wait until you see what a hundred mil will do. Mark my words right here and now for the last fucking time. California, Colorado, Neveda, Washington, and Oregon will have a vote in 2012 to legalize marijuana. It has been in the works for quite sometime. Although again since i will not copy and paste I am wrong. All you have to do is contact the people that I had listed. there are many more that you could contact and they will tell you the same thing. You guys are funny. I tried.

It does not say anywhere that you have to hide it from them...only that you cannot smoke in the same room with them--
As far as you smoking while driving with kids in the car...that is just plain stupid...and if you get caught, you will most likely lose your kids--
BTW...smoking ciggs in a car with a minor is already against the Law-- $100 fine--

Also many of the couples I've met over my lifetime have age differences greater than three years.

Is felony assault and battery really justified if a 20 year old hits on a 17 year old?

SMoking cigs in the car is not illegal where I am. I do not smoke in the car because I am the one always driving and i don't drive well high. However every single person that I know smokes in their car. I know a 75 year old that smokes when she picks up the grand kids. It is just that way here, and we do not see anything wrong with it. I have yet to know of a kid getting high from the car, a room, a porch, a restaurant, the front porch of the local bar (which kids are allowed on). I have also not known of a kid getting drunk while in the same room with people drinking. They needed to be treated equally. I guess when everyone you know is high from the time that they wake up until the time that they go to sleep then you just look at things differently. When the dance teacher trades classes, or a restaurant trades meals, or the local bar always serves you for trade, or any construction guy trades you for anything you could ever need doing then you just get use to it. I will say that if you have not been to a Family christmas get together where there are 20 to 25 people and everyone is smoking then you have not had a Christmas get together. Moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grand ma, grand pa, etc... Guess what? the kids don't get high because they are not allowed to, and it is not a big deal that everyone else is. It is their normal.

I had CPS at my house because a "Concerned Parent" called on me, and they looked at my garden, talked to my daughter...and the only thing they were concerned about was if I was smoking with her in the same room-- When they found out that was not happening, they put a copy of my Rec in my file, telling me, "So we won't waste our time with this again."

I understand that this could be a very touchy subject and if you have had to deal with these types of issues in your family, I am truly sorry.

However I am not yet 40 let alone 50 and I have never slept with anyone younger than 19 and the 19 year old was when I was 22.

I never said 50 year olds should sleep with teenagers, what I've said is if the age of consent is 17 and a 50 year old sleeps with a 17 year old then NEITHER party is committing a crime.

I've tried to make the comparison to other personal choices that were once criminalized (homosexuality and interracial coupling) in order to demonstrate that the majority's laws and opinions are not always ethical or moral.

You may feel age of consent less than 18 is immoral (which it may be), but until those 15 and 16 of other states are changed to 18 the activities you see as immoral are still legal; therefore the course of action should be to change the law not promote violence.

I'm sure many people behind computer monitors need mental help, but in my case it is not because I have proclivity for teenagers

Its not LYING to my children, its protecting them from ingesting a substance that they do not choose to ingest.

Children's bodies are developing at this stage and this can prove detrimental to their health (rather youd like to believe it or not, id rather not risk it).

And really if were talking about edibles, than obviously you need not worry as long as they do not eat it.
