Anyone else grow a lot but not smoke?

If I had to take a break from MJ, I would still grow. And store properly for when I can smoke, I'd have plenty of nicely cured dank. But, I probably won't be taking a break from MJ. Sometimes I smoke less to get the tolerance down, but I usually keep smoking.

Nothing wrong at all, growing and not smoking. Unless you never smoke and are only out for $$$.

... I look at a cabinet filled with cured jars of top top quality herb as art,and it make me sad to see it all smoked. Respect the plant!

Nicely stated Ganja D.

I love growing mj simply to refine my skills & to have some head stash around. Most of my buds are given away to others with higher tolerance to weed than my own in exchange for their verbal review. Much of the weed kept for myself is burned as a sacrament, like incense... Sort of a Spiritual Hotboxing.

Just grow?

Just grow?

I read a poll here on IC once that indicated the hobby of growing as way more addicting than smoking. As cannabis isn't physically addicting that makes sense. But that led me to wonder; how many growers are there that love growing but don't partake?

Definitely more-so in medical states than in non-med states (in the US at least)...I can't imagine someone that doesn't have a relative or close friend or something in need growing if they don't/didn't use to smoke.

I would say that survey was skewed because it was taken at a place where the vast majority of participants are growers who enjoy what they do.

If you compare the number who grow to the number that smoke marijuana I think you'd find that smoking marijuana is far more addictive then growing it. Even if the addiction is just psychological.

I would have to respectfully argue that just because more people smoke than grow, that doesn't constitute a smoking being more addictive conclusion. That merely states that it's easier for more people to smoke than grow. Perhaps most people don't know how to grow.

I don't smoke anymore, but I do enjoy growing. I do sometimes feel obligated to test my product sometimes to differentiate between phenos other than going off of physical characteristics. I haven't partaken yet though. I don't live in a med state.

My gf asked me what I was thinking about after we made love last night, my reply "Blue Satellite 2.2 Freebies, the colors of that plant are magical". Needless to say, I think about growing more often than not.

Well I agree that the conclusion is tenuous but so is a conclusion drawn from asking a bunch of stoners/growers on a website devoted mostly to stoners/growers which is more addictive, growing or smoking? Any conclusion from such a limited survey of a limited cross section of people is likely to be false.

Thanks Caveman. Exactly what I was wondering. I imagined there were those that did that, hobbyists that do it for the sheer pleasure of it. It IS a beautiful plant.

Go pave yer cave, ya fukin' caveman. Man, I love that show. Yeah, I really dig growin'. Just like Ricky, I fukin' grow weed, that's what I do. This may sound kinda off-the-wall, but I've been clean off weed for a couple months now, and I finally have slept through the night. Weed really fucks with my sleeping patterns. I'm actually not looking forward to harvest in late Dec on my current grow for that reason, because I just know that I'm going to be right back on it, smokin' it 24/7, and gettin' silly with it all over again. It's like having a really cute girlfriend I wanna just screw over and over and over again, with no let up, until my dick falls off. Wish I could just look at her and say "you look beautiful darling" but the smell, yeah that smell, well, I just gotta have a taste, and then the cycle begins all over again. Mary Jane, why can't I quit you, baby?

Wow Abbie, a couple months not tokin' is a long time for an everyday smoker.

Its been about 8 years for me, I used to smoke everyday for years. Now I don't even consider actually smoking it. I had a dream a few nights ago that I actually did burn some, and it just was so weird, it just didn't seem normal.

When I used to smoke, the only choices I ever had was schwag or schwag. On rare occasion some headies came in town, and I gladly paid $120+ for a quarter. Now folks get it for $100 a quarter and there is an occasional supply, right around harvest time. :)

i definitely enjoy growing more than smoking...i can't really explain why...my best guess is because when i get interested in something i like to be really good at it.. and its fun to try and grow the best dope possible, and to try and keep the plants nice, green, and healthy :)

also..the smells and different growth patterns are fascinating as fuck to me. its a great feeling to know you're experiencing something that only a lucky few people in the world will ever experience. such as a plant that doesnt produce lemons that smells like a delicious lemondrop candy.. hell 90% of the time i can't even pinpoint the smell, its like i've got a damn alien fruit in my hand. looking at the grow report form, at the 30 or so smells that are possible with MJ, blows my mind. i really have no clue how this plant adapted all these smells and tastes...hell i've got one plant that smells sort of like skunky coffee.

as for smoking the stuff, i still do occasionally. i did most of my smoking in high school and that was enough.

Well good for that kind, benevolent, spirit, in your area driving prices down. Every town needs someone like that. :)

Caveman, you really gotta try vaping some dank. It's so far and above smoking shwag. It's like on a whole different plane itself. Very different...the taste alone...

Edit: To admin. Thanks for the merge to the old thread but I wasn't exactly looking for those that just grow a lot. I should have been clearer I guess. My question was directed more to just the hobbyist instead of all involved. Granted the hobbyist may grow a lot but having money involved adds a whole 'nother dimension.

i am worried about the day when smoking looses its appeal... that said, mad respect to the people concerned about their product/medicine/incense/art.. tokers or otherwise.. if you don't care then whats the point?

I've thought about edibles, there is something about it that appeals to me. Eating a cookie would never be looked at the same way again.
